Great dinner at Kent Hotel tonight. Atmosphere is fabulous and the staff were just so lovely and attentive without being in your face. Ordering my gin and tonic was in itself an experience and the blood orange segment made it perfect. Caesar salad was fresh and good portion size. Bonus was the playlist gently humming in there background was perfect. Not too noisy as it filled up. Looking forward to coming back in the warmer months when no doubt the doors/windows are opened up and a street dining experience begins. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking.

We were a table of 17 with healthy appetites and some special dietary requirements. We were looked after wonderfully from starters to desserts and none of us left disappointed. If you have coeliac disease, your GF options are delicious. Thank you to James and team for looking after us and making our night a memorable one.

I went to an awards thing there recently, and I must say, apart from my award presenting skills, I really enjoyed the the food. I was surprised not only at the quantity, but also the quality. I took some of it home in my pocket, just like Grandma taught me to do.

This place has always been a good place for a catch up, nice atmosphere it's busy but not loud so you can hold a conversation. They have nice house wines and pizza is alway good to share 😋 recommend the calamari too 👍

Some meals are very good and others ok. Not really consistent. The wine selection is good but the atmosphere when it is busy makes for an unpleasant evening. With floorboards and lots of windows, the noise level is awful as everyone yells to be heard, some more than others. And some patrons at larger tables will stand and meet up to chat to someone from the other end of their table, rudely right next to nearby patrons. Give busy nights at the Kent a miss - just not worth it. Oh, and don’t be sure you will get the table you want either. I don’t know why, but my group almost always gets the worst table whenever we book.

The Kent Hotel offers amazing Modern Australian pub fare with a sophisticated touch, so not your regular kind! They are also a sister restaurant to the Plough Hotel in Footscray. The place was buzzing on a Sunday night with every table booked out, I see this as a sign of good food. The service is attentive and thoughtful, the specials were read out to us and our courses arranged and timed perfectly. The pasta had so much flavour and was easily mopped up with some complimentary bread. The pizza was sensational, a 10/10 in terms of dough and flavour. The steak was perfectly cooked and paired with a delicious serve of seasonal greens. I was especially impressed by the eggplant chips which are usually hard to nail, but they did - crispy, light and not at all soggy! Not to mention the generous portion size. They have an extensive drinks list, with many local and international options. I enjoyed a great Italian Pinot Grigio. This dining experience was a gifted invite, however they agreed to having me come in without advising them of when, so every part of my experience was authentic. I wouldn’t hesitate twice recommending this restaurant. ⭐️ 5/5

The only thing going for the Kent these days is location. Frequented often in the past for great food and visited recently … charcuterie plate exceptionally average , showing absolutely no imagination with the amount of condiments and pickles that are about these days .. and $5 for two pieces of warmed bread that you needed to order as the plate had nothing on offer ...seriously !!! That is just outrageous.Have experienced lovely plates about town and this was simply blah .. wines by the glass very meh .. overall disappointed to visit a past gem that is sadly lacking.

The menu reads well but all the food tasted pre-prepared and microwaved. The deep fried things with fine but everything else was very ordinary. To charge what they did for such poor food is very very disappointing.

Great pub with friendly staff. Parmigiana was great. Not sure on the ham they used but it was good nonetheless.

We have had two family gatherings at the Kent with set menus, both times the food has been delicious, plentiful and the service great. Particularly enjoyed the arancini balls and gnocchi.

Decided to come to the Kent hotel with my partner this was a very bad decision, the staff who waited our table were lovely, however the food was terrible, as I write this review I can’t believe smack bang in the heart of Carlton this restaurant is serving such food. I came from a background of food/Italian culture and I must say this mussels linguine was very bad. The mussels were either from a can or frozen, sauce tasted like something from a really bad can and the chef added fresh tomatoes cut up in cubes to show some form of fresh seafood pasta. The pasta was loaded with chilli and was flavourless. Anyone that knows how to make this meal would know that they cook the mussels with the shell into the sauce and the base to this meal is oil and garlic, the mussels carry salt from the sea therefore the flavour is all in the shell. My partner’s gnocchi was covered in butter. They were no jokes swimming in it. No words to describe this further. I understand most of the clientele likes the wine and cocktails list and that’s great for business but the FOOD you really need to know how to cook if you are serving it to people and charging decent prices. We will never return to this restaurant. I hope you can take the feedback on and reevaluate how you’re chefs are cooking in you’re kitchen (owner).

Good portions and fabulous staff. A very welcoming pub with a simple but well delivered menu. Ample parking nearby and their website let's you know where you're likely to get the best park. The wine selection is broad, with by the bottle or glass options being numerous.

Have been going to the Kent Hotel for some 52years and have never been disappointed and have referred many friends there, until the last few times in the last 6 months. Not sure what's changed lately. The meal l had there last night was probably my LAST. The Fish & Chips ($28), was nothing short of disgusting! Fish was a tasteless mush and the batter was oil soaked. Chips were soggy as well. I don't like doing bad reviews, but feel they need to know. Hopefully they can turn this Iconic hotel around back to where it used to be. Bring back the Quality & Service.

This pub has gone shockingly downhill in the last 12 months. No idea why, but the food is barely acceptable, service is lacking, and there’s simply no reason to go here. I hope they can pick up their game, because it used to be pretty good.
