My recent visit to Pinchys at Austin's Wines in Geelong was a far cry from the delightful experiences I've had at their Melbourne location. As a fan and regular patron of Pinchys, I had high hopes for this pop-up venture. Unfortunately, the entire experience left much to be desired. I recall the fantastic opening of the original Pinchys in 2019, and I expected the team to handle a simple pop-up without a hitch, especially with such a concise menu. I made a reservation for the $60 set menu for myself and a guest, who happens to be an online food editor with a popular YouTube channel. Little did we know that our visit would be a disappointment from start to finish. Upon arriving at Austin's Wines, we were seated in a dining room that felt unseasonably chilly due to the open doors and ceiling fans. It was uncomfortably cold. To our surprise, the Pinchys staff informed us that the set menu was cancelled, with only 50% of the menu available. I couldn't help but wonder why no one had informed us of this change before our 90-minute drive to Sutherland Creek, or even upon our arrival. Resigned to ordering from the à la carte menu, we tried the lobster roll with truffle fries and the Spicy KFC Sando (The staff corrected me harshly when I referred to it as a sandwich). While they were good, they didn't quite meet the high standards I've come to associate with Pinchys. The serving sizes were notably small, making sense within a set-menu context but leaving us wanting as standalone dishes. The lobster roll, with only four meager lobster chunks and an excess of iceberg lettuce, fell short of expectations. The promised Shokupan in the Sando turned out to be an almost brioche like, sweet white roll, and the dish lacked the anticipated spice, feeling rushed and somewhat bland. For those considering the trek or locals seeking something new, I regret to report that I cannot recommend Pinchys at Austin's. The entire dining experience was disappointing, marked by communication mishaps and underwhelming dishes. The one saving grace of our meal was the delightful Austin's Riesling, an absolute standout in an otherwise lacklustre experience. #################################### After receiving the below reply & promise, we waited patiently to be contacted by either Pinchys or Austin's - Neither bothered. Seems it was just posted to give the impression to readers that either establishment cared for genuine customer service.

Yet another brilliant pop-up with Drunken Dumplings. Great food, great service and great attention to detail and care in managing my particular food intolerance issues. Combined with a lovely Austin riesling and the welcoming atmosphere, we had a wonderful lunch. Looking forward to the next experience!

Austin’s is the perfect place all year round for a catch-up with friends, family celebration or a delicious lunch, we throughly loved the Tulip Geelong pop up yesterday and amazing Austin’s accompanying wines

First visit to Austin's Winery! What a view! Had a lovely afternoon - wine tasting - thanks Tim for the history and lovely sampling... delicious. The Vietnamese lunch session was fantastic - great service and great food. Enjoyed a catch up with Richard and Pam to understand a bit more on Austin's Winery history. Thanks for a wonderful and relaxing lunch....

A lovely Saturday afternoon spent here at Austin’s. Great service, beautiful wines to try and the person I was with got to experience great company. The gardens are pretty and it’s a really nice place to sit and contemplate life at. I’d definitely go back again.

As a part of my Sperm Donation Australia tour of Victoria, I ventured out to see some wineries in this region 1st stop of the morning had the pleasure of coming here, Kristy was a great host and shared with me some lovely tasting wines. I ended up walking away with a bottle of pinot gris from their Austin reserved range.
