Never
again.
My
employer
booked
my
room
online
and
paid
with
her
credit
card.
Upon
check
in
I
was
prepared
to
hand
over
my
own
debit
card
for
a
security
deposit
along
with
my
licence
as
ID,
which
is
normally
what
happens
when
I
travel.
I
was
told
by
the
person
working
at
reception
that
my
debit
card
would
be
charged
for
the
full
amount
of
the
room.
I
explained
that
my
debit
card
didn’t
have
enough
on
it
to
cover
my
room
and
asked
if
the
card
used
for
the
booking
could
be
charged.
The
answer
was
no
(which
I
don’t
understand,
as
if
I
was
a
no
show,
isn’t
this
the
card
they
would
charge?).
After
a
full
day
of
work
and
a
three
hour
drive,
I
was
tired
and
ready
for
a
hot
shower
and
some
relaxation.
I
asked
if
there
was
a
way
to
work
around
this.
No,
the
only
other
way
was
to
ask
my
employer
to
take
a
photo
of
the
credit
card
used
with
the
original
booking
and
send
it
through.
Not
something
I
was
asking
my
employer
to
do
at
8pm
on
a
Wednesday
night
and
how
is
that
more
secure
than
using
the
credit
card
used
on
the
original
booking?
I
will
admit
by
this
point
I
was
getting
teary
and
emotional.
I
took
all
the
cash
I
had
in
my
purse
out
and
asked
him
to
use
the
cash
and
take
out
the
remaining
amount
on
my
debit
card.
Leaving
me
with
no
money
for
food
for
dinner,
breakfast,
or
fuel.
I
admit
I
put
the
money
down
on
the
other
side
of
the
counter
and
not
in
a
polite
way
at
which
point
I
was
hissed
at
“if
you
don’t
calm
down
and
stop
throwing
your
money
at
me,
I
will
refuse
to
check
you
in,
and
you
can
sleep
in
your
car”.
Yes,
please
tell
the
tired,
emotional
neuro
diverse
person
to
calm
down,
that
will
work.
Thank
you
for
taking
my
voice
away
(if
I
said
anything
now,
I
risked
having
nowhere
to
stay).
In
between
these
exchanges,
I
had
to
wait
in
the
corner
with
tears
running
down
my
face,
while
he
continued
to
check
in
other
guests.
I
was
immediately
taken
back
to
school
and
standing
in
the
headmaster’s
office,
a
disobedient
child
once
again.
When
he
finally
checked
me
in,
and
I
asked
about
parking
–
twice
–
all
he
said
was
“turn
left”.
Because
of
the
lack
of
food
and
stress,
I
had
a
shocking
sleep,
I
still
have
a
headache
and
I
was
useless
at
work
today
–
which
is
the
reason
I
was
travelling.
Never
again.
