I have trained in various martial arts disciplines my whole life and whilst each of them were good in their own right none of them had given me the absolute undeniable confidence to deal with a “real world” violent conflict or attack should I be unfortunate to find my self in a scenario of being in the wrong place at the wrong time with a violent attacker. After my first trial class at CQB Global Combatives I immediately knew that this was a training environment like no other that I had trained in before and since joining I have learned many skills that are simple and effective to better my chances at eliminating an immediate threat of a violence from an attacker should I be unlucky enough to be in such a situation. After being so impressed with what CQB Global Combatives had to offer I decided that I would enrol both of my kids into the kids program and they absolutely love it. All of the members are awesome and great to train with and I can not speak highly enough of the head instructor Orkun. He is a real genuine good guy who has a wealth of knowledge and is a true master of his craft. Anybody looking for a training academy that specialises in reality based personal protection and self defence must check out CQB Global Combatives, it’s suitable for any participant regardless of age, gender or previous training experience and I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

Being in law enforcement type roles for over 20 years I have found myself not as agile as I once was, realising this I made it my goal to find the right self defence school for my needs. I tried different clubs with different styles, eventually resorting to the internet and finding CQB Global Combatives. I have found the techniques, once practiced, to be easy to preform without too much flare. Simply put, it does not look flash like in movies, but consists of minimal movements. It is pure street self defence. No rules. If you are looking for a self defence style that you can always rely on to protect yourself, or someone you are with who is unable to protect themselves, then this is the academy for you. Like most of us, I hope to never need to use it but I can now walk with confidence that if a threat should arise, I know I am as prepared as I ever could be. I highly recommend this academy as the instructor has been in all types of security including personal security overseas and in Australia.

Ive been taking combat classes with Orkun Ankara/ CQB Global since summer this year. Ive never met a person more genuine, motivating and passionate about what they do. From having no defensive skills or experience to who I have become now  is purely astounding. I will surely and proudly  continue my training to further excel.

I love training here!!!! I highly recommend both trainers Catherine and Orkun! Have been coming here for over 3 months now and cannot tell you how many life skills im learning both mentally and physically. They have classes both for women's and men's which I feel is appropriate. Every time I walk out I can feel my confidence building overall. I recently attended the CQB Combatives self-defence class, and I must say it was an eye-opening experience. Unlike traditional martial arts, this class focuses on extreme self-defence and real-world conflict situations. The instructor's approach was practical and effective, teaching techniques that went beyond the norm. Overall, CQB Combatives has given me a new perspective on self-protection.

I couldn't be happier with my experience at this martial arts school. The instructors are knowledgeable, skilled, and patient, and they always take the time to answer my questions and offer personalised feedback. I have trained with Orkun and now my son trains with Orkun and Catherine. Have tried other forms of self defence, but if you want your child or yourself to be ready for a real life street encounter, than this is the place to train. Just want to send a thank you once again to Orkun and Catherine for their invaluable training A couple weeks ago a guy on ice flipped out upon being denied entry to a venue I wasn’t working at but I just happened to be catching up with the guard out front. I chimed in to verbally deescalate but the situation went from 0-100 in a matter of seconds as the guy started smacking the guards arm away from creating distance and was about to start swinging. When Orkun taught us the below restraint, I doubted myself how well I’d remember and be able to execute everything in a real life situation. But everything clicked intuitively in that moment without having time to think about it. I managed to lock up the guy with my left arm which I hadn’t even practiced with, got the chin control in so as not to restrict airways, wrapped his other arm with my right and easily walked him about 10 metres away from the venue as he unsuccessfully kept trying to horse kick me and I eventually made him promise to drop it if I let him go. He didn’t honor his word immediately after being let go, but after advising him that if I had any desire to do him harm I would have done so while he was in the restraint and it was because he had to acknowledge this that he dropped it and walked away, no harm done. Just last week I ran in to this person again and surprisingly he apologised and thanked me for my restraint. So I must pay this thanks forward to the CQB team as had i not learned this control technique that situation could have been a lot messier. Much love 🙏🏽
