Sakura Park

Park

😠 Pretty much only exists so newly weds can take pictures. They don't allow dogs or any type of playing. You must walk on the sidewalks or you'll be told to leave. It's not really a park because it's owned by Toyota in Erbil and it's pretty much their personal park. People often mention park, Iraq, Erbil, Sardar, Group, Sakura,

On December 17, Sardar Group opened Sakura Park with a tree planting campaign, in the presence of senior representatives of the Kurdistan Regional Government, including the Minister of Municipalities, the Minister of Environment, the Governor of Erbil and several other KRG officials. Other attendees included Mr. Rashid Mansouri, Consul General of the United States of America, a delegation of diplomats from the Embassy of Japan led by First Secretary Takehiro Tezuka, and some business delegations such as Sumitomo and Toyota Iraq. For his part, the governor thanked Sardar Group for opening the park, which gives a beautiful view of Erbil. For the second consecutive year, Sardar Group has imported 200 trees from Kyoto, the ancient Japanese capital, to plant in public places Airport Street near Toyota Showroom. This friendly initiative between Japan and Iraq began in December 2015 with the first bringing of 200 trees to Iraq. This park will be opened as a symbol of friendship as well as as a tribute and memory of our heroic veterans, just as the sakura tree is associated with a national monument, the spirit of the brave samurai. In the next two or three years, we will enjoy the beauty of the flowers of the sakura tree in spring, they will have a unique and charming sight that the people of Iraq, Kurdistan and the Japanese celebrate together in Kurdistan and Iraq.

Nice place to walk and very clean. On December the 17th Sardar Group opened the Sakura Park by a plantation event with attendants by senior representatives of the KRG that included Minister of Municipality, Minister of the Environment, Erbil Governor and several other Officials from the regional government.  Other attendants included the UAE General Consulate Mr. Rashid Al-Mansoori, Japanese Embassy diplomats headed by Mr. Takahiro Tezuka, First Secretary. Other business corporations such as Sumitomo Corporation and Toyota Iraq also participated also. One his side Erbil Governor thanked Sardar Group for the park that will further add beauty to Erbil. As a social contribution from Sardar Group for the 2nd year 200 trees have reached to Iraq, this time from Kyoto the ancient capital of Japan to be planted in public areas. From those, 50 Sakura Trees will be planted in the Sakura Park that has an area of 10,000 m2 and is located on the Airport Street by Toyota Showroom. This act of friendship between Japan and Iraq begun from last year in December 2015 by bringing 200 trees for the first time to Iraq. The park will be opened in resemblance to the friendship tie and in other memories of our noble Peshmerga fighters, as the Sakura Tree is nationally tied to their brave Samurai Spirit. In the upcoming 2-3 years, we can enjoy beautiful blossoms of the Sakura during spring season, we will have a spectacular view that Iraqi’s, Kurdish and Japanese people will celebrate together in Iraq and Kurdistan.

Such a lovely place. The park is quite clean, shinning and green all the time. The place is only allowed for bride and groom for photo sessions.

Eventhough it’s part of the MRF Quattro complex but residents of the MRF are not allowed to enter it until after 5:30 pm. Everything in Erbil is the opposite of the world.

😐 Nice quiet park, im not sure whether to call it a park or not, it's a narrow pathway that has trees and benches to sit on. There are a number of benches that are not systematically placed. There are no lights at night to light up the pathway, you might find cockroaches and other bugs hanging out the...
