Better than Pompeii. Large and beautiful villa outside but near Pompeii. Should be a must see after Pompeii. The villa is larger and in better condition than most houses in Pompeii. Many beautiful paintings. Enjoyed the visit.

Beautifully preserved murals in a villa close to Pompeii. Amazing uses of perspective that had me questioning things I learned in school!

The Villa Poppaea 🏛 is an ancient luxurious Roman seaside 🌊 villa (villa maritima) located in Torre Annunziata between Naples and Sorrento, in Southern Italy. 🇮🇹 It was buried and preserved in the eruption of Vesuvius volcano 🌋 in 79 AD, like the nearby cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii, about 10 m (33 ft) below modern ground level.

To fully enjoy the visit you need a local guide to explain the architecture, customs and history of this house, as the value is mainly in what you don’t immediately see (unless you are an expert in Roman history). Staff were very helpful.

Absolutely worth it to stop by Torre Annunziata and visit this place. It's 10 minutes walk from the train station so do not miss it. Tickets are 5€/person and toddlers are free.

A very cool spot to check out the ruins without having to go through all of Pompeii (and avoiding those crowds). Incredibly well-preserved paintings and mosaics, and so much history to learn!

Wonderful Roman Villa to visit instead of Pompéi. It is worth the detour.

I've been there on a Sunday morning and spent few hours in visiting, escorted by a very passioned guide. Together with the Pompei archeological site, this is probably the best you can get, about Roman presence in the area. Don't miss this opportunity!

Lots of good frescoes to see, but unfortunately, perhaps due to covid, a lot of areas are roped off making it difficult or impossible to see some of them.

Excellent information and wonderful excavation. A little known gem with few visitors!

beautiful frescos and architecture. we parked on the road just north of the site for free. even though it was only a 30min visit, it was worth the stop on the way to Castellammare di Stabia from Herculaneum.

This place was so beautiful. The frescos, the marble , were all wonderful, and I believe a little overlooked compared to its historic neighbours.

Amazing place to visit. Not so crowded as Pompeji. Totally underestimated. The paintings on the wall are so good preserved. It seems as they were Just finished yesterday. When you go to Pompeji make sure to stop here. The Villa is Just 300m away from the Station.

Wonderful place. It's best to go in the morning, they open from 9am because there are not too many people. Later are a lot of people. It's best to download guided apps

One magnificent villa, but you see tons of them in Pompeii

Parking was a bit challenging since the villa is located in the middle of a busy residential area. But wow, what a gem! This villa has been beautifully preserved and you are able to walk through rooms with beautiful fresco's(better than pompeii and herculaneum!) and walk on 2000 year old floors with mosaic intact. Must see!

Very well kept, amazingly beautiful site. Nothing less than Pompei houses, but much less busy. I don't understand why this site is so underrated. Only minus is difficulty in parking around it. If you go by car get ready to struggle for a parking

Excavated in the seventies and instead of the 1800's so the site is meticulously restored. It is not as big as Herculaneum or Pompeii but far more intact.

Really amazing place, well preserved fresco and mosaics. Some of the frescos are incredible! It's really recommend as it's also less crowded than pompei and they give you a well prepared paper guide and a map.
