I can't possibly rate this place highly enough. As a large family I had my concerns when I realised the owner (Joe) does everything himself, he is bartender waiter and head chef. I needn't have worried, he welcomed us in, served drinks took a lunch order and had us fed within the hour. The food is tremendous, I personally recommend the monster toast although the burger is also a really good choice. We may just stay here and try out the dinner menu.

If you are tired of dining in so called "tourist traps" where the food quality, ambience and service are average, do not hesitate to visit American Club Tapas Food & Cocktails! The owner, who is also a chef, is a very friendly, cordial and open person, who will take care of your stomach and mood well. I recommend bacalhau (cod) in cream sauce - it is simply the best. Pork loin ordered by my friends was also delicious. This is the food that you know it was made with heart. Feel free to order some drinks too - pitcher of sangria with apples is so aromatic... P.S. If you are interested in any cultural events in the area, the owner will suggest you something or maybe will invite you for these organized at his bar.

Came with large family (9 of us). Despite having just opened for the day, Joe made us welcome, re-organised his tables and had sorted drinks and food (great by the way) in under an hour even with a couple of special requests for our youngest. The huge toasted sandwich was amazing and enough to share between two. Only downside was how late in our holiday we discovered Joe's place - I would have gone every day!

This guy rocks in every sense - food, wine with no limit (reasonably) and service!! Joe a portguese american has a great sense of humor too. I recommend him whole heartedly!

I have been a regular at American Club Granja every time I visit Portugal since 2015. I have no words to describe the wonderful experience ! The location 5* the service 1000* and the quality of the food and drinks is also great. More than a dining or a pub, American Club is an experience, Jo (the boss) is a great guy who will welcome you and make you feel like home. 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting the north of Portugal. Very lovely place, near to the ocean. The hospitality could not be better, the choice of the food and drinks are various. It has an individual feeling, worth to try ☺️

Really odd place. No signs, cash only and sketchy. The owner and only employee is a nice guy. The food is nothing special. Not sure why it is called "American" nothing American about the place other than some kitschy decorations. The building smells of mold and can be seen in the ceiling corners. I will not be back.

A cozy and lovely pub restaurant near the beautiful Granja beach, the owner Jo is a very nice guy and a very good cook as well, you need to try one of his best Portuguese dishes “Bacalhau com Nata”, probably the best Bacalhau dish I have ever tried in Portugal. Highly recommended.

The owner and host, Jo, is a warm and amazing guy! Jo does all of the cooking and food prep himself and creates fun themes and events. When you're at Jo's cafe, you feel like you are in his home. His Bacalhau com natas is the best, with a spicy kick that really makes it fabulous!!

Everytime I come to this place I am surprised mostly on account of the service. Food is very good. Jo Santos is a friendly and fantastic person giving the best suggestions on food/snacks and/or drinks. It is a nice place to come with the partner or with family and friends. Well decorated place and nice music.

My first visit to this delightful gem of a restaurant/bar located very close to the beach in Granja. Walking into this place-- nondescript on the outside, with a delightfully fun & eclectic decor on the interior--and I felt as if somehow I was 'home'. Jo, the owner & chef, is warm, so welcoming, funny and a great cook!! I can't wait to go back with my hubby.

I have heard it compared to Cheers where everyone knows your name...and something out of a Humphrey Boggart movie, Casa Blanca. In truth, it's Jo, the owner is the star. He is an amazing character. He is a servant, a superior human being, and a good soul.

Cozy corner in praia da granja that I highly recommend. Their Sloppy Joe Sandwich was simply delicious! Will definitely be coming back to try other dishes & some cocktails
