Breathtaking view of the island on the top of the hill. This place is very relaxing just lie down on the sand, swim in the beach, trek going to the top of the hill, watch the sea birds fly, and enjoy the view. I enjoyed the serenity of this place, away from the bustling noise of the metropolis. The water in the ocean was very clear. I hope this place will maintain the simplicity and natural beauty so that many tourists will feel the simple vacation in the island.

One of the best beaches in Biliran! It has a beautiful white sand. Some parts of the island have an overlooking view of the Maripipi island and the Masbate island (if I'm not mistaken). If you want to go the island you can rent a boat with a capacity of 17 person from Kawayan port, which only costs 200 pesos each. From kawayan port, it's a 45 minutes to 1hour travel. Be also aware of the waves during habagat season. Its entrance fee only costs 100 pesos and 1500 for the nipa hut style cottages. The electric power source of the island is a generator which opens from 6pm and closes to 10pm. Make sure you charged your phones and cameras! If you want to have a full experience of the island, I suggest an overnight stay.

Place is a one-hour boat travel away from the main island of Biliran. It was cloudy and drizzling at times when we went there on May 27, 2022. Sambawan Island has uneven sand that is almost yellowish/brownish. Some parts of the shore have corals and were rocky. I really enjoyed looking at the turquoise blue sea water which was even more obvious when you look at it from the hilltop. View from the deck is magnificent. I suggest you find time to go up the hill before sunset or during sunrise. Our group stayed there overnight in the hut that we rented. They also provided beds and pillows. Note that clean water is scarce and not accessible. We paid Php40 per gallon just for the caretaker to fetch water for you. Electricity is also limited so charge your phones before 10pm or better yet, bring your power bank. Despite having no electricity, I fell asleep easily as the sea breeze blew continuously during the night.

It's a cool and clean place. The price is reasonable for me and I stayed there overnight with friends.

When visiting the island, it is recommended that you stay overnight to fully enjoy its pristine underwater. There is more to this island, than the picturesque view on top of the hill.

We went here last Feb 23 til 24. The island was kept clean, the people are so accommodating, the prices of the food and other goods are reasonable. The hut, and water supply is comfortable and fresh. However, don't go here when it's already late unless you want to brave huge waves! But its a paradise worth visiting! Just that the water when we wen there was itchy we weren't able to snorkle or a long time.

Sambawan Island is located 5km of the west coast of Maripipi Municipality, south of the Samar sea, is fast becoming the most visited attraction by the tourists. The semi- curved beach with soaring rock formations covered with green grass as a backdrop create a bubble of fantasy that you are entering another dimension.

Beautiful remote island! It’s just hard to get there from the mainland and the electricity was not working when we were there but it was very peaceful.
