Balanan Lake was formed in 1925 when an earthquake with a 6.8 magnitude on the Richter scale caused massive landslides in both mountain ranges. The landslide created a natural dam right across the southern end of the Balanan River and the water rose to become a figure 8-shaped lake. I have to rate it 3 star cause it needs some renovation and staff. The Government should promote this place cause its so enchanted and natural.

(Translated by Google) If you are equipped with a 4x4 vehicle you can get there. At least 8 kilometers of very aggressive stony road Once there, the bridges are broken, abandoned sites, it's dirty. A big disappointment after this long and painful climb. Dommage

And we are back again here in Lake Balanan, the last time we came it was raining heavily and we did not manage to have a walk around but this time we went up to the tree house, the zip line station and to the waterfall, it is about 30 minutes walk from the other side across the water using the floating raft, there are some areas that the footpath had collapse just be careful and do this adventure with your own risk. Also wear a proper walking shoes as you will be walking across a drive river and along the river bank if going up to see the waterfall, it is best to visit the waterfall days after it rain to see more water flowing and also water will be crystal clear. This place is an hour drive from Grandview only. Highly recommended to all adventurous people. Also you must try there fresh crayfish dish that can be order at the kitchen restaurant, We had some in our previous visit and it was so good I mean super good, very tasty with full of different kinds of spice. That was the best crayfish dish I tasted ❤️🇵🇭.

Enchanting place. The last time we went here was about 18 years ago. It had way more visitors and was booming back then. Now, it has sort of become an abandoned place and needs a lot of renovation here and there after several typhoons went by. Still stunning, nevertheless. The road going there was also unpaved and very bumpy. I hope they fix some of these things.

Very nice and stunning place. Be aware of the rocky, bumpy road to get there. I highly recommend having a SUV, with normal car you can stuck!

We visited the place last week and to be honest it was peaceful but not fully recovered after typhoon the trail is not fully accessible and the road all the way there is a massive turn off but anyways the place is worth it

Place is far from dumaguete but it's all worth the trip. One of the best places to enjoy nature. We enjoyed swimming in the pools, boat riding and hiking to the waterfalls.

Worst road I have ever driven, do NOT go here with your own scooter. Loads of rocks that really damage your vehicle, goes on for many kilometers. Hitchhike or get a tricycle, unless you have a 4 x 4 or an off-road motorbike. The place itself is nice though, 50 pesos entrance fee, has a pool, nice trail around the lake, raft you can use and some waterfall in the end. But Jesus Christ the road...

The place is so relaxing, good for people who likes to unwind and relax their mind away from their city life. You can go boating if you want, the water is so cold and air is unbelievably fresh. If you go there i recommend you bring your own car or motorcycle as the place is so far from the highway and be careful as the road is a little bit difficult to maneuver, almost all of the 12km road is all rough terrain. The people there are so accommodating and kind.

The beautiful and mesmerizing lake was formed by a tectonic earthquake with the magnitude of a 6.8 on the Richter scale that hit the southern portion of the island of Negros, and caused landslides in the southern ends of both the Balanan and Nasig-id ranges in Siaton.

Could be nice but the “road” there is just too bad... a dirt or gravel road would be an improvement

Aside from their pools and the lake, you can also do trekking up to the hidden falls🥰

(Translated by Google) We have almost hesitated to go, but I am always wary of bad reviews! So this morning by aircon bus to the terminal of Siaton, excellent veryvite in 1h30, then offer to take us habal habal to the lake and return for 600 Php, you have to ask Jandri at the terminal of Siaton! Excellent driver, but everything without a helmet, 3 on the bike with 2 backpacks. Already the beautiful scenery, the partially concrete road otherwise a stony track, it's true, but with a good driver like Jandri is the funny adventure, then the arrival in a quiet place, fee registration 50 Php / pax , a nature, roots, trees etc.splendides, tour of the lake by boat with two nice rowers, 10 minutes walk to get to the falls, easy to swim and let yourself be hit / massaged by the fall. Attention take good shoes, because the flip-flops slide a little. Children offer fresh scallops from the lake and the spring restaurant cooks adobo, a pure delight. To do absolutely, it's so beautiful !! Whoever seeks rest, it is served, no phone network, no Wifi, pure nature! To see more look on FB Balanan Lake Mountain Resort. It can be done on a day trip from Dumaguete or sleep on site.

(Translated by Google) Been there again for 2 years. The driveway is approx. 60% washed out natural / gravel road with the Enduro. Entry was 50php this is not enough for the beautiful nature but for the dilapidated infrastructure and the minimal selection in the restaurant. There's a new bamboo raft for that ... the old one was flooded when we were 5 of them 2 years ago 😆 The hike to the water surface offers many and it is also cool in the back. The bath in the pool is refreshing. Again any time (Original) Seit 2 Jahren wieder einmal dort gewesen. Jederzeit gerne wieder

Very unique place! Rented a kayak and paddles around the lake before enjoying the landscaping around the lake area! There were even treehouses overlooking the lake to eat from! I believe Typhoon Odette did some damage out there and they are renovating it now. There is a nice pool to swim! Also, some of the largest Banyan trees I have seen so far in the Philippines!
