Travel back in time. More than the history, it is the love of Don Mariano to Maria that caught me here. The strength of the structure that made it still stand to date, is directly similar to the love they have for each other.

We visited the place at 6:00pm on a Friday. There was only 1 visitor here aside from us. I remember I visited this place back in 2017 at noon and the place was a bit packed. There was also a lot to see in the Ruins at that time. The place is still beautiful, but the old fixtures ans other displays were placed in one room, probably to protect them from the rain. There are still a lot of spots to take a photo of, namely, the ourside of the building, the fountain, and the trees where lights are hung. If you like history and would love to hear the story of this building, this is for you, if that's not your cup of tea, then there's not much for you to do here aside from taking photos. There was a man inside an area entertaining guests, who I believe could share the background of this building.

Good to know it's now being recognized to be one of the best ruins in the world (as per Roger the tourist guide) :) The place improved a lot compared to my last visit 6 years ago. The Souvenir Shop has more items, the garden is greener and cleaner, the restaurant has more available food & drinks, there's even a live acoustic singer... a great place for picture taking esp during sunset. I also like the otherside park with mini lake and swans.

The place is romantic except that it has many visitors. The lights they installed in the structure give life to the ruins. We visited this place for dinner, and also to witness a portion of history in Bacolod. This place is recommended for couples, they have good music here. You can book a Grab taxi for the most convenient ride to go here. ---

It is a must see when you are in Bacolod. The best time to visit is around 5 pm. So you will get sunlight as well as the dawn and nightfall. Absolutely stunning. Extraordinary place to take pictures and just to chill and relax. I really enjoyed coming here a lot. I love the pictures I took. And it is not that expensive to get I too.

The place is well maintained, especially the landscape area. However, there are a lot of mosquitoes. Growing plants that repels insects will do. The food was average. Nothing special. But pricey. But the mansion itself is really magical. Specially at night. Too pretty to missed out.

Beautiful place with interesting history. You could easily spend hours wandering the grounds. There is a gift shop, restaurants, juice bar, and great spots for taking photos. Not too crowded with available parking.

Nice place, beautiful so easy to take pretty pictures. We went on a weekend as it's quite close to where we live (sadly I dressed like a bum) many people there taking engagement photos, group photos and family photos. Very cool looking place, the gardens are nice and well taken care of. The history is quite interesting and overall I think we'll go back just to wander around the gardens and enjoy a nice day (plus next time better pictures as I will at least wear nicer clothes, my bad) will also go back on a weekday when I think there will be less people and have lunch at the cafe.

I loved this place! It is best to go here during sunset so that you'll get to see it with and without the lights on. There's an entrance fee when you go inside. You can choose 100 for just the entrance fee or 300 consumable which you can use at their restaurant and the entrance is free. Food is great at the restaurant since we had our lunch there. The Ruins is picture perfect outside. There is also a souvenir shop inside. But not much of activities though. Just take pictures and eat.

THE RUINS I was mesmerized by the architectural beauty of this once regal mansion built on a 440 hectare plantation in Talisay City during the Spanish colonial era. The best time to visit is about 15 minutes before dusk. Still have time to enjoy the site with natural light because as the sun sets, the lights turn on and the place becomes magical!

First time visiting this beautiful place. So much history! Coffee at the cafe is good as well. SERVICE IS SUPERB. There's loads of people when we were there and it's not even a weekend. But happy to report that the guests are all respectful and are not noisy. We stayed until 8pm, waited until they closed the lights so we can shoot the house with the stars. Definitely should visit when in Bacolod. Entrance fee is 120 each. Loads of parking spaces. Visitors can enter up to 730PM. But best to visit before sunset.

The place is very nice. The entrance fee you'll be paying is worth it for the nice view and place. We visited the place at around 10am onwards which is there are no too much tourists in the place. Highly recommend during early lunch if you're wanting to have less contact with other guests and maybe for the view at around 4pm to 5pm. The entrance fee for adults are 150 pesos and for students and seniors I think it's 120 pesos and free for those kids under 3 feet.

one of the iconic spots in Bacolod entrance fee is reasonable, no time limit. but I suggest you visit around 5-7pm so you can have day and night pictures of the place. i also suggest going there on a weekday to avoid crowds on your photos 😀

This tourist spot is just few mins away from the airport. You can literally just take a Grab ride or a tricycle from airport to your first tourist destination if you are a backpacker. Entrance fee is at Php150, tricycle at Php30. There is a restaurant inside which is quite pricey but tasty. They also have a tour guide inside who will tell a bit about the history of the place. The interior has lights already and it has a beautiful garden which is usually rented for special occasion. So, some find it difficult to get there, if the place was exclusively rented. You just have to comeback the following day or days and try your luck.

Embarking on a day tour at The Ruins in Talisay City offered a captivating journey through time and architectural grandeur, with the added convenience of walk-ins being welcome. Tickets, however, could only be procured on-site, adding an element of spontaneity to the visit. Choosing the day tour proved to be an ideal option, allowing me to soak in the rich history and intricate details of The Ruins at a leisurely pace. The imposing structure, bathed in the warm glow of sunlight, stood as a testament to a bygone era, and the decision to explore during daylight enhanced the visual allure. Upon arrival, the option for walk-ins made the experience accessible to impromptu travelers. Purchasing tickets directly at the venue added a sense of immediacy, enabling me to seamlessly begin the exploration of this iconic historical site. One notable feature of the day tour was the availability of a museum tour guide. This knowledgeable guide brought The Ruins to life with engaging narratives, unveiling the tales of love, tragedy, and architectural brilliance that defined the mansion. Exploring the site with these insights added a profound layer of appreciation for the cultural and historical significance of The Ruins. The museum tour guide highlighted intricate architectural details, sharing the stories behind the mansion's construction and the tragic events that shaped its history. The lush surroundings and well-maintained gardens provided a serene backdrop to the journey, creating a harmonious blend of nature and history. Strolling through the manicured gardens, I discovered hidden corners and picturesque vantage points that added to the charm of the experience. The day tour's relaxed pace allowed for unhurried exploration, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the ambiance and capture the essence of The Ruins. In conclusion, the flexibility of walk-ins, the recommendation for a day tour, and the availability of a museum tour guide made The Ruins in Talisay City an accessible and enriching destination. The convergence of historical narrative, architectural splendor, and the personal touch of a guided tour crafted a memorable and immersive exploration of this cultural gem.

A nice place to visit, very relaxing with the nice views. We went there during lunch time so we decided to avail the 400 each entrance fee which is consumable at their restaurant, We were happy and satisfied with our food, all in all it is all worth it! For those who are not interested to eat there, there is a lower entrance fee. And also they have clean toilet 😊🥰

The Ruins, or the Nutsberry Garden is an amazing place to visit! It's beautiful in the morning and it turns magical at night. If you plan to visit the place, be at the venue around 4:00PM. That will give you enough time to go around the area, know about its history of love and grief, and capture Instagram-worthy photos to share with friends on the digital space. But wait till the sun goes down. You'll see the palace glows in its beauty concealing the ruins of its past. What a magical moment, indeed! I had a great time gazing at the palace, though ruined by an event in the past. It has been made glorious by its rich story and the stories we all create with it thereafter. Enjoy your time at the Ruins! 😃 😃 😃

The Ruins in Talisay City are one of the great two storey mansion built before world War 2 in the Philippines. The foundation of the building able to withstand fire for three days. The Ruins is awardee of PICE Outstanding National Civil Engineering Landmark Award. It is overlooking the vast sugar plantation. Souvenir shop is available in the mansion grounds.

A mansion built by a wealthy sugar baron for his wife. Now in ruins, this place has a souvenir shop inside and a restaurant on the front of the mansion. Now a popular tourist destination in Negros Occidental, this place is also a perfect location for events such as weddings. Best time to visit is in the afternoon (sunset) until evening.

We went here during our unplanned trip to Talisay, Negros Oriental. The place is magnificent outside. You can appreciate its aesthetic scene and have a memorable experience in The Ruins. It has a resemblance to the story of the Taj Mahal. Perfect for taking photos with your loved ones.

A historical place that you should visit while you are in Bacolod. It's great that they have repaired it by placing a roof. As per my friend, there's no roof before. That's why when it rains, the flooring is all wet..

Entrance fee is around 100-150. They also offer entrance which includes food (which for me is a bit pricy). But if you want to chill and listen to live pianist you can enjoy it there. It is also good place for photo shoot 😉 Also, there are lights in the evening which makes the place more brilliant. Tho I wasnt able to wait til dark 😅

Beautiful! Magical! Charming! The first time I visited this place was in 2018, December. That time, there were a lot of tourists so honestly I didn’t like it that much. Earlier today, it was drizzling and it’s a Monday so very few were there to experience the beauty and grandeur of this magical place! I love The Ruins. I felt like I lived in it many years ago. There’s something about this place that wants you to come back, again, and again… Entrance fee for adult is PHP 120 which is reasonable. Children are free. Senior and PWD are discounted.

This historical site features the ruins of a mansion house of a prominent figure in Negros Occidental. The tour guides there are very informative entertaining. They recommend to visit the place during the afternoon, around 4pm for best experience (and to avoid the heat of the day). There are a lot spots in the place where you can take good photos.

We enjoyed our time in the ruins and a lot of it is because of tour guide Mars. He is a fun guide and takes very fun photos of our group. Best to go there early about 5 mins before 9am so you can avoid the crowd. Cool remnants of the house with great stories told.

I think it’s best to visit the place at night because it’s not too crowded and not too hot. It closes at 9PM. The only way to get there is via private vehicle. Very close to the airport. There is a restaurant there but be prepared to pay more since it’s a tourist spot. At least you get to eat pizzas with a view of the Ruins.

I came here with my partner and daughter. It was an interestingly old place, hence being called the Ruins. There was an entrance fee but once inside you can explore, the grass is well looked after, green and great for a picnic. There are food stores onsite and also a gift shop. If you'd like to explore what Negros Occidental and the wider Philippines has to offer, I certainly recommend a visit to the ruins for a family day out, whether you live in the region or you travelled all the way from Australia to be here.

A nice place to visit in Bacolod. On your way to The Ruins, you will pass by sugarcane plantations as seen in my videos. It will feel like you're living in the time of sugar barons. You might miss the signage from the main hi-way because of some vandalism, keep your eyes peeled. They have ample parking space for cars. If you're bringing a bike, like me, prepare to chain it to one of the trees since they don't have racks. I think most people come here by private vehicle. There's a cafe as well so don't worry if you get hungry. A nice video presentation plays inside The Ruins showing the history of the structure. I like how they revived this place and made it relevant to the current times. Hope people continue to support historic landmarks around Talisay and Silay area.

Attended a private event during the night. The place was breathtaking, especially during sunset. Rent a van if you want to go there at a later time, it was hard to get a cab at night.

The place is situated within the plains of sugarcane plantation. It is secretly hidden by tall walls and trees at the front part because the parking space is at the side and the entrance to The Ruins is at the back part. We went there at 6pm and we enjoyed the night view of the mansion. By watching the video we were able to understand and educate ourselves about the history of this mansion. All the architectural designs are beautiful and worth to see. The place is so quiet, peaceful and calm. I highly recommend to visit this place when you are in Bacolod.

A famous tourist attraction in Talisay City, Negros. Great to visit at sunset as the fading sunlight gives the house an different facade. The grounds around the Ruins is a nice place to relax.

  • 5/5 Christina Lauder A. 4 years ago on Google
If you want the best photos, come at around 4pm—so you can see The Ruins during daylight, at sunset, and at night when they light it up. We were able to go to and from here via grab, but there are also taxis and trikes waiting in the area. Cane sugar juice and ice cream are available but if you want the full experience, book a table at the GAZEBO. (Check their site for details)

Romantic, historic, and educational. Entrance fee is less than a hundred pesos. The Ruins is one of the loveliest places I’ve ever been to. You should visit this place when you’re in Bacolod. The best time to visit this place is from 4 in the afternoon onwards. The sun sets perfectly in this place giving the structure more character and drama. They also offer guided tours. Perfect place to propose and take pre nup photos!

Well if you are interested in checking out old ruins, this is quiet a cool place. It seems that they have a scheduled event on the day that I went there with my friends. It was a hot day so we were running around the fountain trying to get a good shot without the sun burning us up. We were able to get a good picture of the ruins as well. However the neat thing that I saw is the tower that was overgrown by a tree. My friend said it used to be an old sugar mill. I could not figure out how that works but it seems nice. Good place for events and occassions like weddings and debuts.

This was just a stopover on our way to a resort in Negros Occidental, PH. As is the case with ancestral homes, it has a rich history, which is the primary draw of this place. It belongs to one of the prominent families in the area and was built in the early 1900s. For a minimal fee, you will be treated to a guided tour - although it is quite a short and simple one. There are some very good spots that are really nice photo op. There is also a souvenir shop to buy shirts, caps and other keepsakes.

Beautiful Mansion. Been there twice, first in the morning. You'll see the beauty of the mansion on broad light. Tour guides are also available to better know the place. Second time I visited is late afternoon, which is I think is the perfect time to visit, where the golden light is directly hitting the walls of the mansion. It makes the mansion shine! Don't forget to take a picture with the famous glass table that is reflecting the mansion :) Lots of parking spaces available Restaurant is also available inside, perfect to dine at dinner coz the lights are romantic Don't also forget to try freshly squeezed tubo juice! You can have it as it is, or add lemon and ginger

it's an interesting icon in Talisay. travelling back in time to this mansion, aka "the ruins," aka "the tajmahal of the phillipines" located in a middle of huge sugar plantation. The Ruins as popularly known today, was a 2-floor Italianate mansion built during Spanish colonial era. It was burned during WW2 by the American army to avoid from Japanese forces using it as HQ -- rather odd excuse to me, but hey, that's the tale. it's a popular wedding photo site nowadays.

This place is a testament to the wealth of Negrense Hacienderos during the early 1900. A must visit place if you are a history or architecture enthusiast.

A must visit place here in Negros Occidental. Make sure to go here in the evening rather than in the morning and afternoon. 11:00am is the opening time.

The place is good, perfect getaway if you want a few minutes of silence and greenery. They have excellent yet quite expensive food and beverages you can enjoy. They keep improving the place with new features, gardens, amenities and more, however, aside from them, there's really not much to do here.

Went here before 8pm. We took a cab from Seda Hotel going to The Ruins and the taxi charged us 300 pesos going here, as he says, it is far from town proper and they do not normally just charge us from what the taxi meter says. Upon getting here, there is an entrance fee. Also, you may notice that there are a lot of tricycles hanging around just outside the entrance, as they are also the ones who will offer their service going back to the main road so you can get a cab yourself back to city proper. They charge 150pesos. Good thing that our tricycle driver was good enough to find us a cab after dropping by us off. The place itself is romantic and charming especially if you've known or read the history of the place. They also have a restaurant their called Gazebo but due to pandemic, they had to put it outside for an al fresco dining. I suggest you try their Ajo Parmesano, best tasting pasta ever. Serving is only for one person. Their pizzas are thin crust. We ordered Don Mariano's special, but to be honest, their is nothing special about it. I also liked their Salted Caramel Machiatto where they will give you a milk that you can pour yourself, depending on your liking. It is a nice experience going here. Some times they are closed due to some events like wedding happening there, so much better to call the place first before going there.

Also known as The Taj Mahal of Talisay for it was built in memory of the wealthy sugar baron Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson Portuguese wife, Maria Braga Lacson in early 1900s on a 440 hectare sugar plantation. But during the World War 2, Filipino guerillas burned it down. Despite of it all, our visit here still gave us the feel of how much the baron loved his wife. Great tourist destination for sure, for groups or solo and best for couples. They serve food but we didn’t book one. We’ll be back and try that definitely. Wheelchair friendly with help and easy parking inside the premises. Sadly for our furry companion, no pets allowed.

We rented some bikes and took a ride to The Ruins. It didn't disappoint with the scenic garden. You can't take the bike inside where most people are though, but there's a parking lot just after the ticket entrance. The tour guide says the pillars/walls were made from Grade A cement and egg whites and were constructed non-stop, to which the marbly finish can be attributed (even though it was intentionally burned down one time to prevent Japanese occupation during WW2)... I don't really buy that, but the guide is really funny with his jokes (I am not a local, but I can understand a bit with the gestures and context) so I forgive him lol. The higher levels of the ruins are not open, but the ground floor is. There's a souvenir shop inside too. There's a reflective table which can take pics that are seemingly taken from a lake's or pool's surface for extra effect but the queue can get long.

Great place and interesting history about it. The park and it’s ruin mansion is very well worth a visit. It shows how massive impact this sugar baron Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson had when he build this beautiful mansion. It was a pity they burned it down to prevent the Japanese using it as a HQ during WWII

Instagrammable! The Ruins just invites people to pose at almost every nook and cranny. There are even arrows or marked spots for taking the best shots. If the place isn't attracting tourists, it's being booked as a wedding place or for other events. Any event held here will surely be memorable for the beautiful view. There's also a restaurant overlooking the lush greens. Try some of the interesting drinks! Best time to visit would be mornings before 10AM and late afternoon as it can get quite hot after 10AM especially during summer.

There is nothing much to see in the area except for the ruins. Well, you can still see that the ruins is majestic and beautiful. The ruins is more than enough to say that your visit is worthwhile.

Peaceful that you can chill and relax and the view is really nice where you can take lots of good photos and meet people who also love to travel. ✨ We visited last April 5 around 4 pm. It was a holiday but the place wasn't that packed yet when we arrived but maybe around 6, more people were coming in.

My visit to The Ruins in Talisay, Negros Occidental was truly enjoyable. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the majestic skeletal structure that stood before me. The architectural details and grandeur of the ruins left me in awe. Exploring the surrounding gardens was a delight for the senses. The lush greenery and well-manicured landscapes provided a serene and tranquil atmosphere. It was the perfect setting for a leisurely walk and a moment of reflection. Beautiful place at night when all the lights are lit. There is a restaurant in the premises but I did not eat there. Just keep in mind that there are a lot of people running around that might accidentally walk into your photoshoot

An amazing tranquil environment. There is so much nature here that you feel an instant calmness. If you ever need to take a breather or relax with a peace of mind, come here, walk the beautiful park, then sit down in the cafe, face the ruin and enjoy a cup of wine.

Tour guide was great at telling the story of the mansion, and included some good comedy to engage with the tourists. There's also an air-conditioned gift shop present inside the mansion, a beautiful grand fountain outside the main entrance, and other facilities close to the mansion.
