The next itinerary on our Valencia tour is a museum housing a collection primarily of World War II artifacts. The owner himself would be jolly enough to tour you around the place and make you more knowledgeable as you come out the Cataal Museum. During my visit, I learned about how granades work, how war planes drop bombs on enemy targets, how McArthur coined, "I shall return", and lots and lots of interesting war stories shared to us by the owner. He even jokes around when the conversation gets a bit boring. It was an interactive museum as well. We never knew how heavy granades were until we hold one. I also got to unsheath a pre-colonial times sword and checked how sharp it is.

astounding collection from Mr. Felix V. Cata-al, a former National Power Corporation official, a World War II relic collector. No entrance fee but I suggest to drop in their donation box 😊. So much to learn, you'll be fed with knowledge and stories from the past. 15-20 mns. ride from downtown Dumaguete City and is also a walking distance to Sibulan Plaza, Market & Tiangge.

The provincial capitol building is already a century old. You can see the beauty of its architecture is influenced by our colonizers. Aside from this, in front of it is their park where there is a huge lagoon-like water. Around it, in the early morning, people do jogging and own exercises.

A small museum but significant. As you look around, you'll feel the history as it is speaking to you. No entrance fee just a donation from your heart ❤️☺️. The owner is very informative and kind. He said he saved those war stuff from the mountains, didn't know exactly where 😅 pretty impressive. Worth visiting.

Took a lot of photos because the museum's rich collection of WWII artifacts are very useful for my Japan classes. This is such a precious collection for learning history, and a reminder of its impact on the current relations the Philippines has with Japan. There is no entrance fee but if you are lucky to catch the curator and owner, Mr. Felix Cata-al, you are in for a session of storytelling and impromptu poetry recital. Thank you for sharing your passion for history and culture.

It's a very small but very interesting museum. It's more of a collection of items that is from WWII (and a few that are not) than a formal museum. Not a lot of labels or descriptions. They don't have an entrance fee but there is a donation box.

This is not only the Capitol, there is also a great park in front that you can stroll around. There were several art works in the park that you can take pictures with.

The place is astonishing since World War II, you should visit there and see it for yourself. So many things and accessories that was actually used by people during that time and sometimes I feel its creepiness to think that those items belongs to the soldiers in the past who passed away. There are lots of old items like drinking bottles, uniforms, head gears, coins, currency notes, bullets, grenades and missiles from World War II. I recommend to include this in your bucket list of adventure. To get there, you must travel to Dumaguete by land, sea or air. If you choose by land, the cost would more likely the same if you travel by sea. To travel by air, that would cost more via small planes at Mactan through AirTaxi.ph . When you reach there, use Google Maps to pin point your location and destination. Enjoy and have fun!!!

Small a bit of placards with information, but mainly a collection of stuff. There’s even boxes of human bones found in the jungle east of town up in the mountains where the Japanese were entrenched during WW II. The machine gun they had was interesting, as well. Lots of old mortars, hand grenades, and a collection of hard to find books on the conflict. Oh and I loved the Minesweeper, something you don’t see every day.

Mr Cata-al was very friendly. We only stayed for a few minutes and I loved every minute of it. I suggest you stay longer. If I was alone I would have! Also, it would be beautiful to see the collections in a more controlled environment to have it preserved for centuries to come. (Tip: Talk to Mr. Cata-al. The visit will be more worthwile when you hear the stories and history he has to offer.)

Caretaker was not around at that time but I was allowed to take photos outside. Place is very accessible (bike, motorcycle, 3 or 4 wheel vehicles). The area is besides Total Gas station and close to Valencia Plaza. Good collection of war memorabilias. Will go back here for the stories of those pieces.

Very informative and sobering. This place has a decent collection of WWII in the Pacific and the Philippines islands. The guide was very kind and passionate about his knowledge of the era and the collection that for the most part he has collected himself. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.

One of the most interesting WWII Museum experiences I've ever had in the Philippines. Mr. Felix is always enthusiastic when he talks about everything we discussed and asked about in the museum. I would say the place is definitely worth a visit if one is a history buff. I would definitely visit it again if I get to be in Valencia again in the future. My partner and I enjoyed our time here a lot. We were looking for museums in Dumaguete but sad to say most of them were closed, so visiting this place was a definite highlight when we got to Valencia.
