We came here after visiting the Cordillera Region around Banaue. It was quite interesting to read about the history of the Cordillera including head hunting.

MUSEO ILOCOS NORTE Opens Monday to Sunday up to 5pm 50 Pesos Entrance fee. As respect to the museum, touching is prohibited and since they trust you for this visiting this place must follow rules. Can take pictures all you want, even tho the 50 pesos was not worth enough just because its small and very hot no ac in the rooms. But its just helping the community to preserve the culture we had for ilocano's and native. You can enjoy as some were imititation i supposed and some were authentic real.

There was no one staffing the entrance and I waited 5 minutes for someone to arrive to take my money and buy a ticket. The museum is fairly interesting and provides good information.

Nice museum however the entrance fee is too much. Im from ilocos norte and im obliged to pay for the fee. Its like i need to pay inorder to see ancestral instruments, tools and equipment of our ancestors, not quite good 😁 but the PLACE, the area itself, onthe other hand is outstanding in the sense that youll able to learn the tradition and tools of long time ago. tools like paggapas(harvesting materials), kawes(clothes), and many more.

The first of its kind in the Philippines - a solar time detector built in 1841 by Fr. Juan Sorolla, an Augustinian Priest... It is located at the backside of St. Augustine Church and its replica is found in front of the Municipal Hall built in 1845...

Historical and tranquil. Make sure to drop by at the local museum. There is a souvenir shop inside the building and a coffee bar outside. Get the chance to get the city's tourist map for guidance!

Withstanding the changing of times and seasons and of a world war and revolutions are two of the most enduring yet least known legacies of the Spanish colonization are the sun dials in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. From March 22 to September 23, 1841, the first sun dial in the Philippines was built by Father Juan Sorolla in what is now the compound of St. Augustine Church and School. Everything and everyone has a story to tell.

I don't know if sundials are still accurate but nice knowing. I remembered trigonometry topic when a mathematician measured earth's circumference using shadows. 😏

I grew up around town and i never get tired of this historical sundial of my home town. I recommend this spot to all.

Highly recommended to be your first place to visit. You can buy your souvenir and other ilocano products after your mini tour of the place. Visit the museum TAOID next door to get more of ilocano heritage. Don't forget to get a free map at the tourist info desk
