Another spectacular UNESCO world heritage site in the heart of Isfahan. It is part of a Persian garden full of beautiful giant trees. The architecture is another unique one you can visit while in Iran. The Ceiling artworks and wall paintings are perfect examples of art.

A Safavid lodge with excellent paintings. The hall has only twenty columns but they are reflected in the water, so hall of forty columns. The interior has some beautiful Safavid paintings, including one of the Battle of Chaldiran. It is a little away from the main square, but definitely worth visiting in Isfahan.

Very nice palace with a nice garden and the walls and ceilings inside the palace is filled with intricate paintings depicting the history of iran. Our visit happened during the ramdan holidays, so the site was crowded with a lot of visitors.

This is an oasis in the middle of the city, in short distance to other tourist attractions. During the summer months can be unexpectedly closed due to the dust in the atmosphere. Although the garden is not out of the ordinary, the palace itself is: colorful paintings, intricate decorations, old pieces of art.

Pictures do not do this place any justice. What an amazing site! We happened to visit on a weekday and it was decently busy. There was a bit of a queue to buy tickets and get in. It details part of history of Iran and the illustrations which accompany it are incredible. There are both English and Farsi texts to explain the images on each of the walls. The architecture is another level. Safavid times. Highly recommend a visit.

The most atractive garden and building in Esfahan. The design is clasic for Persian gardens, but the ensemble looks awesome. The building has incredible peintures and mirrors. Dont miss this garden from your Esfahan tour.

There are repair works in the complex. Nevertheless the garden is very beautiful. It is worth paying a short visit. Recently emerged (not completely, though) from a long restoration process, the 40-columns-palace is located in a beautiful Persian garden, and hosts huge mural paintings, with historical meaning - in the inner side, and an impressive mirror arcade - in the outer side... Do not count twice, the pavilion has only 20 columns ;-) should visit very beautiful arts

Another classic palace/garden that forms one of the 9 Iranian gardens recognised as. UNESCO world heritage site. The paintings inside depict a famous battle (sorry I can't remember which one). Once again you're left stunned by not only the design but how the Iranians have preserved their history.

Nice palace with nice pool at front and back of it you can see 40 columns (20 column with picture of them in pool).Very nice painting on the walls inside the palace building. Especial statues of lions at the base of columns. if you look from side you can see two profile of two lions but when you change your view angle ( from a corner of column base) each two profile joint each other and become one complete face of lion.Very nice design.

This place is a short live documentary depicting a chapter or two from the Safavid dynasty. It also hurts seeing what Qajars and probably more contemporary governments did to the paintings only because of some religious beliefs. The height of the pillars into the perspective of water, especially during the night, gives it an epic and tender view. The place was rebuilt by Shah Abbas II, and most of the mirrors are silver back rather than mercury back. Paintings depict Shah Ismaeil's battles, during one of which he suffers from a decisive defeat due to his refusal of using cannons and artillery.

A historical place with a fantastic garden and a beautiful pool specially designed to reflect the building (hence the name 40 pillars). Parts of the building (exterior) were under reconstruction when I visited the place. The inside offers murals from about 180 years ago. Some of the paintings are about war between the Persian and the Ottoman Empire (The Battle of Chaldiran, year 1514). Other paintings are about different meetings. Like other historical sites, this palace is also adorned with miniature paintings and mirror works. A place you have to see when you are in Isfahan.

Chehel Sotoun Palace meaning forty columned palace first opened in 1647. The pavilion is located at the far end of a long pool on which twenty columns are reflected to make the forty columns. inside the pavilion there are six main paintings which were painted in different times. One of the paintings that I like the most is The Karnal Battle of Nader Shah of Afsharid Dynasty that was painted in Qajar era in the year 1801.

The garden and building are superb. Peace of art and paintings on the inside walls are exciting. There is a big pool in front of the building in the garden which you can see reflex of buildings inside the water. The management are really poor, they don't know anything about culture, art or history. The visiting time in of the garden a theistic city is up to 7 p.m. but a note infront of the building mentioned 8 p.m. Impolite door keeper at the entrance closed the door 15 minutes earlier. Governmental management on historical buildings in Isfahan are catastrophe.

Chehel Sotoon Garden is one of the monument of Isfahan, IRAN and Its a royal garden. In addition to the garden, it is also known as the Chehel Sotoon. It is located in DOWLAT Street. In Persian language, "SOTOON" means column, and "CHEHEL SOTOON" means "Fourty Column" which means a place with forty columns. But this palace has only twenty columns! So why call this pakce: Chehel Sotoon? While it has only twenty columns? The reason for this naming is because of its reflection of twenty columns in the water! (Twenty real Columns + Twenty relection Columns = Fourty Column, means: Chehel Sotoon) Here is more like a garden than an palace. About the position of palace is in the middle of City, from the east to "Chahar Bagh" Street to the south to "Sepah" Street and from the west to "Naghsh-Jagan" Square. Before you reach the Palace of Chehel Sotoon, you'll be drawn to the lush, vibrant atmosphere around the garden. It is actually an Iranian garden rather than just a monument. Also there are six wall paintings on the walls of the Palace, like the scene of the "Chaldaran" war or the painting of King "Tahmasb" and king "Homayoun", India. Another painting is King "Ismail" battle with "Uzbek", Overall, this Palce is so Amazing!

Amazing Palace From Persian Safavid Empire. The name, meaning "Forty Columns" in Persian, was inspired by the twenty slender wooden columns supporting the entrance pavilion, which, when reflected in the waters of the fountain, is said to appear to be forty. The Chehel Sotoun Palace is among the 9 Iranian Gardens which are collectively registered as one of the Iran’s 23 registered World Heritage Sites under the name of the Persian Garden.

One of the most beautiful historical buildings in Isfahan is the Forty Pillar Palace, which one gets overwhelmed by watching. A beautiful pond that reflects the role of the building when the sun shines and historical paintings of different kings in this land.

Chehel Sotoon Palace is a historical pavilion in the city of Isfahan, Iran. It was built during the Safavid dynasty in the 17th century as a royal pavilion for receptions and entertainments. The name "Chehel Sotoon" means "Forty Columns" in Persian, referring to the 20 wooden columns supporting the entrance pavilion that are reflected in the adjacent pool, creating an illusion of forty columns. The palace features stunning frescoes and tile works depicting historical and mythological scenes, as well as beautiful gardens and reflecting pools. Today, it is one of the main tourist attractions in Isfahan and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
