Unique Poetry of Iranian Architecture! Before visiting this building you have to be prepared to experience one of the most diverse architectural buildings in Iran, after passing the corridor and after entering the dome. Low ambient light and under-dome windows that light the environment in a special way. Be sure to visit the basement of the mosque.

Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is one more beautiful mosque of Iran which shows marvelous Iranian art work. Interestingly, due to the sun rays, the dome changes between blue to pink. This mosque was built just for Royal family and royal females but time never remains a same. Later on, it was opened for general public. I like this mosque which is small in size but full of detailed art work. Excellent indeed!!!

One of the most interesting ornaments IMHO was that stalagmite-like structure hanging above your head at the entrance. Another interesting fact: the Lotfollah Mosque had a secret entrance that spanned underneath the Maidan, from the Palace on the opposite side of the square.

Architecture of Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque Due to the fact that Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque was designed to be a private mosque, it is smaller than Imam Mosque, and has no minarets. Naqsh-e Jahan Square, in contrast with the most important structures in Iran, does not follow the direction of Mecca, so Shaykh Bahai, the chief architect of the project, faced a challenge while designing two mosques of the square. Like Imam Mosque, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque has an entrance portal that turns right, forcing the visitor to face the direction of Mecca when entering the mosque. The paintings and interior tiles were made by Reza Abbasi, famous Iranian artist, and its quality and beauty overcome exceed anything created In Iran before. The walls, dome, entrances of the mosque are decorated with the so-called seven-color tiles, calligraphy, inscriptions of some chapters from Quran, names of Imams, and poetry.

Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is one of the architectural masterpieces of the eleventh century. This mosque is famous for its lack of minarets and courtyards. This mosque is located in the World Square of the Universe. Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is the world's tallest dome as one of the most beautiful domes in the world. The dome of this mosque comes in three colors: earthy, pink and gray. Many believe that this building does not actually have the role of a mosque like other mosques, and the architect, in an artistic way, created a space that even Followers of other religions and all human beings will notice the divine and mystical light in it.

Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is one of the masterpieces of Iranian architecture that was built during the Safavid Empire, standing on the eastern side of Naqsh-i Jahan Square. Construction of the mosque started in 1603 and was finished in 1619. It was built by the chief architect Mohammadreza Isfahani, during the reign of Shah Abbas I of Persia. On the advice of Arthur Upham Pope, Reza Shah Pahlavi had the mosque rebuilt and repaired in the 1920s. The purpose of this mosque was for it to be private to the royal court (unlike the Shah Mosque, which was meant for the public). For this reason, the mosque does not have any minarets and is smaller. Indeed, few Westerners at the time of the Safavids even paid any attention to this mosque, and they certainly did not have access to it. Compared with the Shah Mosque, the design of the Sheikh Lotf Allah Mosque is quite simple: there is no courtyard, and there are no interior iwans. The building itself consists of a flattened dome resting on a square dome chamber. However, in contrast to the simple structure of this mosque, the decoration of both interior and exterior is exceedingly complex, and in its construction the finest materials were used and the most talented craftsmen employed. Robert Byron wrote about this sight: I know of no finer example of the Persian Islamic genius than the interior of the dome. The dome of the mosque was truly breathtaking, the sheer size of it from inside and the detailed design was exceptional.

This mosque is one of the main tourist attractions in Isfahan and is one of the four main buildings in Naghsh Jahan Square. The beauty of this mosque and its beautiful roof is praiseworthy. Do not miss to see this unique mosque. I suggest you sit a little under the dome and experience peace and relaxing.

(Translated by Google) Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, which is located in Naghsh Jahan Square in Isfahan, was included in the list of national monuments of Iran on January 6, 1961 and shows the most beautiful and best manifestations of Safavid art with its architecture, tiling and extraordinary decorations. This magnificent building, which is considered one of the sights of Isfahan, has been showing off in front of the Qapo High Building and the eastern side of Naghsh Jahan Square for centuries, and attracts the attention of every domestic and foreign tourist. Professor Mohammad Reza Isfahani was one of the most famous architects of the Safavid era who was able to execute the Isfahani style of architecture as beautifully as possible in this place. According to Sputnik news agency, this work of art, as one of the seven unknown wonders and the highest spectacular structures in the world, such as Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, is very different from other Iranian mosques; So that not only does not have a minaret; There is no mention of a courtyard with four porches, and this confirms the special nature of Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque. The design of this mosque is very skillful and professional and the sizes are in perfect proportion and there are no weaknesses in it. One of the characteristics of most mosques in Isfahan is the seven-fold reflection of sound; The same is true of the Sheikh Lotfallah Mosque, which adds to its unique appeal. The inscriptions and lines inside the mosque are an artistic work by two calligraphers of Shah Abbas era, namely Alireza Abbasi and the anonymous calligrapher, Baqer Bana, who have given this mosque extra beauty. It is interesting to know that the design of gardens and flower beds in Tehran's Azadi Square is inspired by Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque; Of course, with the difference that its architect, Hossein Amanat, has used an oval face for Azadi Square instead of a circular design in the dome of the mosque. Imam and ... is living. It was during this period that Shah Abbas ordered the construction of the Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, and thus the foundation of the new mosque was laid on the ruins of the mosque that was located in this place. Mohammad Reza Isfahani took charge of the construction of this mosque, which was able to build an amazing building in 18 years. Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque was reserved only for Shah Abbas and the royal family, and ordinary people were not allowed to enter it. It seems that Shah Abbas worshiped in this mosque every day since the opening of the mosque in 998 AH until the end of his life. He came to Iran to live with the invitation of Shah Abbas I along with some Shiite elders. Sheikh Lotfollah first went to Mashhad and studied in the presence of great people such as Mullah Abdullah Shoushtari and finally was selected to serve in Astan Quds Razavi. He then went to Qazvin to teach there. Shah Abbas, because of his devotion to him, in order to honor and honor him, ordered the construction of the mosque to be a place for teaching, teaching and holding prayers. Sheikh Lotfollah was in charge of performing Friday prayers in Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque until he fell ill in 1035 AH and said goodbye to Dar Fani in Isfahan. This side of the square is divided into golden proportions. The northern and southern parts of this space, as well as the wall facing the western square of the mosque, are covered with seven-color tiles. The front of the mosque was white when Andre Godard wrote the book "Iranian Works"; Because 10 years before this book was written, the front tiles were moved to the basement due to damage, and the current view is the result of the efforts of the restorers. The book "Half of the World in the Definition of Isfahan" also emphasizes that the current mosque, except for the inscription on the entrance, which could not be repaired and replaced, has not had any defects so far.

Small is beautiful. The Sheikh Lutfallah Mosque (named after the father-in-law of its founder Shah Abbas I) is not in size compared to the Shah or Imam Mosque, but is certainly not inferior in terms of decoration and interior. Every square centimeter of this mosque is elaborately decorated with calligraphy and geometric patterns. But where the above-ground spaces excel in exuberance, the underground summer mosque with its white ceiling and turquoise paneling and floor is the absolute, sober counterpart. The mosque is unusual because it has neither a minaret nor a courtyard. A short corridor leads directly to the prayer room because the mosque was intended for the women of the shah's harem. Perhaps that's why it's so beautifully decorated?

(Translated by Google) Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is the only mosque without a minaret with a pea-colored and different dome and a very well-shaped and beautiful dome located on the eastern edge of Naghsh Jahan Square. The Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is also a relic of the Safavid era, which was built by order of Shah Abbas. The reason for naming it is that Shah Abbas made it a factor in honoring Sheikh Lotfollah Misi or in fact Sheikh Lotfollah Jabal Ameli, one of the scholars of the Safavid era, and the reason for this was Shah Abbas's great support for Shiism. Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is built in front of Aali Qapo Mansion and its dome, in addition to its extraordinary exterior, has an extraordinary interior. The altar of this mosque is a masterpiece of art and engraved with the poems of Sheikh Baha'i, a Safavid scholar. There is a peacock pattern on the inside of the dome, the feathers of which are complemented by light from the upper arch at the entrance to the mosque.

(Translated by Google) One of the most interesting parts of the dome can be considered the inner center of the dome with the role of a peacock, which when the light shines on it, the shape of the peacock feathers becomes more prominent. This is important because drawing animal shapes is not allowed in mosques; However, this work has been achieved with beautiful elegance and with the help of light in Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque. These 32 rhombus patterns are put together in such a way that as they move towards the center of the dome, they become smaller, and in this way, an attempt has been made to make the height of the dome appear higher.

Stunning! Both from the outside and the inside. Visit in the day for inside views. Visit at night for the outside views. Cost IRR 150K. Small one due to absence of courtyard.

I would absolutely love to visit this place every day of a life of 100 years. This is beautiful indeed. And did you know this connects all Esfahan to one place. Inside you see the all new and outside you will see the old Esfahan. My trip of three days wasn't enough to explore this one place in Esfahan. Every street takes you to the next world of excellence.

(Translated by Google) Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is a masterpiece of 11th century AH architecture that was built by Professor Mohammad Reza Isfahani, one of the famous architects of that era, on the eastern side of Naghsh-e Jahan Square. This mosque was built by the order of Shah Abbas I and in honor of Sheikh Lotfatullah Misi to be his place of study, residence and worship. The characteristic of this mosque is the lack of minaret and courtyard as well as the presence of stairs at the entrance, which has made it different from other mosques of the Safavid era. It is said that this mosque was the private space of the courtiers and the public was not allowed to enter it. The altar is the most beautiful part of the mosque, which is decorated with beautiful tiles and moqarnas. The height of the circular dome of the mosque is shorter than other mosques and can be seen in three colors of earth, pink and gray during the day.

The mosque is located on the east side of Grand Naqsheh Jahan Square and that's one of the most beautiful buildings inside there. It is one of the unique artworks of historical art in the centuries of Islamic periods of Iran.

Mosque with an impressive dome. Entrance fee was 1 million rial in May 2022 for foreigners. Built during the Safavid dynasty. Much smaller than the Abbasi mosque, but still worth the visit.

Small mosque without yard and minaret but it doesn't mean that it's not worth-visiting! All the walls and roof entirely are very finely painted and you'll enjoy the spiritual atmosphere of this mosque. Don't forget to try magic voice trick in it!

This tiny mosque is an icon in Islamic Persian art. It was built not for praying and religious contribution, the main cause of its architect was building an artistic mosque, and he did indeed as it exhibits to any visitors. light, colour and other architectural details are truly considered in this mosque, even the words which have written on the walls have specific meanings.

(Translated by Google) The mosque was built between 1612 and 1619. Shah Abbas I dedicated the mosque to his father-in-law Sheikh Lotfollah, hence the name of the mosque. The Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is very special as it completely lacks the minaret and that steps lead up to the entrance, which is very unusual in mosques. I bought an entrance ticket at the ticket counter just to the left of the entrance. I entered a narrow and dark corridor with mosaic walls. A large sign said that it was forbidden to take cards. The corridor turned to the right and led under the dome itself. It was really unbelievably beautiful! Korridoren svängde åt höger och ledde in under själva kupolen. Det var verkligen otroligt vackert!
