Our group of 8 stumbled across this restaurant at 3 pm, way after the usual lunch hour. The staff were wonderful, recommended dishes that were left, all were delicious, well priced and beautifully presented. Best meal we've had in Portugal, so glad we found them!

This place is lovely, overlooking a quiet vineyard with vistas of neighbouring villages. The food is excellent. While staying nearby, my girlfriend and I ate dinner here often. The sea bass was one of my top meals in Portugal. The steak and veal are both delicious. The cod fritters are top notch. All the portions are very large and generous, as is the custom. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, there is ample parking. Note that several of their specialities require you to call ahead.

We were told to try this resturant and so glad we did . They had two very large parties and offered 4 dishes that were available but then chef came back and said she was able to make whatever on the menu . While we were late dining. ( 9pm) we didn’t opt for an appetizer but the chef sent one out complements of her . The cod was beautifully presented and very large portion . The best I have had in Portugal. We loved it so much we booked to go back the next night

Skip the hotel restaurant and come here! Excellent food, well served and fairly priced! The staff is super friendly and welcoming. We ate here twice on the same day and the quality of food and service didn’t decreased even with a packed restaurant. Definitely make reservations for dinner!

This unexpected stop was the hilight of our visit to Portugal from a culinary perspective. We had the distinct pleasure of dining at Solar Douro on a quiet weekday afternoon resulting in a private and elevated experience. The friendly and attentive staff took care of our 8-year old daughter first then followed up with fantastic wine and food recommendations. The food, wine and service were simply exquisite leaving us wanting more at every subsequent spot. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The recipes were really good/tasty and well plated. Also the decoration of the place was ok, staff were friendly and received us well but for me personally, was a little overpriced mainly for this 2 reasons: staff wearing sportswear, not even an uniform, and probably due to the proximity of an hotel.

Hidden Gem! If you are anywhere near this area, this is a must go to restaurant. Perfectly executed Portuguese cuisine in a very cozy setting. All the dishes we tried were excellent. The “crème brûlée” (it’s not called that and it’s not exactly crème brûlée) was the lightest, creamiest dessert I have every tried. Definitely try it, you won’t be disappointed. From beginning to end, all the dishes were awesome. Highly recommend this place. You won’t be disappointed!

Great ambiance, good wines and a menu with only good choices! Very friendly table service and the chef clearly knows what he/she is doing. We had the bife a solar, which was cooked just the way we asked for.

We ate twice at this restaurant during our stay in the region. We loved the food. Very tasty and the quantities were perfect. The starters were also very delicious and we were grateful that the Chef offered us "pataniscas". :) They were very good! However, what we enjoyed the most was the sympathy of the staff! Both days, they were truly friendly and always accommodated our requests. We would definitely come back!

Six of us experienced a wonderful lunch. The wait staff was very helpful in making food and wine suggestions, including specialties from the region.

They overcharged our bill for dinner by 5 euros without telling us. CHECK your receipt!!!! Food was decent but found bone in the sausage.
