We wanted to try out various restaurants in Essaouira but in the end we always came back here. Not only the food is delicious but also the owner Zak is a super friendly person who gives his best to make great food for a fair price. We hope that we can come back soon!

We had one week in Essaouira and this was hands down the best meal we had. The food was seasoned to perfection and perfectly cooked. Zak was wonderful to meet and he has a lot of pride in his quality ingredients and preparation of the food. And he should. It was wonderful. Don't let the small space on a side street fool you into thinking it's not worth your time. This food was so good and the host was so lovely. Treat yourself to this meal. You won't regret it. You are in good hands here. Grilled langoste is the feature, but don't miss the parsley prawns. They were amazing!!!

A great place to eat lobster in essaouira! Such a lovely service, really feels like being at a private home at a friends place. The interior is not at all fancy but its about the food! A great evening with amazing lobster for a good price.

Chef Zak is so friendly and adorable! The lobster is definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. Fresh and cooked to perfection 👍 very reasonably priced as well. The roof was cute and bright, would definitely try again if I had the chance 🙌

We were recommended this place by a friend and it did not disappoint! Firstly, the owner is very sweet and accommodating. Second, everything is very well priced. Lastly, the food is delicious!! We had the lobster which was well cooked and sprinkled with lime zest - absolutely genius I had never had it with lime zest but I will look out for this in the future. The mashed potatoes were really well spiced too. The place is very small but super authentic. It took quite a while for our food to come out so make sure you have time when going here. The lobster was live so this could be why. I will definitely be recommending this to everyone that comes to Essouira.

Zak is a lovely host and excellent cook. All good cooked fresh (not pre prepared so takes a little time but we’ll worth the wait) and is absolutely delicious. Best eating experience of our holiday.

We didn’t even see the full menu when we went, only the lobster, it’s really reasonable price and some reviews. Zak grills the lobster with a sauce that he calls his special ingredient, as he told us. The lobster was perfectly cooked and the sides were good too. The place has a private living room aura and, at least as a European, definitely is not a place where you would expect to eat lobster. This is exactly what makes Chez Zak so unique. Paired with Zak’s friendly and generous nature we would definitely recommend this place to everyone coming to Essaouira!

Visited on recommendations from previous reviewers. The restaurant is not far from the main market, located in an alley close to other restaurants. The shop is very small and cosy, do not expect fine dining or high levels of cleanliness, however expect to be blown away by the excellent lobster at an excellent price point. We ordered a large lobster, fried calamari, chicken skewers and lamb chops. The lobster was excellent, plenty of meat and nicely cooked. The chicken skewers were ok, but we noticed some parts of the skewers were undercooked, also the lamb chops were overcooked! lastly the calamari was standard. This place specialises in lobster, don't waste your time ordering anything else. The Lobster was 400 dirhams. Ok experience, I've had better in Essaouira, expect some waiting as there is just one person cooking.

Came with my daughter on recommendation from previous reviewers. Upstairs table at the top is the cutest little room! We had the lobster which was delicious with really good home made fries and salad. We also had the lamb chops… simple but really tasty. Zak is super friendly and all at a reasonable price. Expect to wait but it’s worth it. It’s small so the atmosphere is what you make it 💕🙏🏻

The seafood is very fresh. The boss is very honest. He will tell you what kind of seafood he has is fresh or not. The environment is very nice , especially the rooftop one 😘

Best lobster experience I ever had. Zak is super kind and eager to explain about his families’ fishing business and is an expert in preparing sea food. Definitely go to this little, cute restaurant, if you’re looking for sea food in Essaouira!

Absolutely delightful owners and very friendly service. The food is simple and reflects very well Moroccan home made cuisine, and is extremely affordable. The rooftop is very small and can only accommodate a small group so come early to get a spot. Highly recommended!

Delicious and HUGE lobster at a great price served with delicious homemade fries and salad. Zak was really friendly, showing us the lobster and letting us get involved in the cooking. Lobster unlike any we have eaten before in such an unassuming restaurant. A must go for anyone who loves lobster!

We went to Chez Zak a little more than a week ago and it truly was a very enjoyable experience. The food was delicious with very reasonable pricing, we went for the special. The setting is beautiful especially in the little terrace upstairs where we were seated, it was private and comfortable. Mr. Zakaria (Zak) was such a kind host and we could clearly see the love and passion he has for his restaurant through his food and service. Definitely a must visit in Essaouira!

Heard about this place from a YouTube vlog. They said it was their best meal in Morocco and after 3 weeks traveling in Morocco I completely agree with them! The grilled lobster is amazing, fresh, tender and juicy with lime zest. SO GOOD! Also, the sides that come with it are fantastic, the mashed potatoes are worth the trip by themselves. We went for lunch and are going back for dinner to try more items on the menu.
