No split bills, and NO refunds, but there was NO signage displayed and NO mention on their website from when I visited. It is only on entry that you are told that there are no split bills, and AFTER payment that there are no refunds. I understand no refunds but here's the story behind it - the host asks me "10 people?" and I go "Yeah" without counting - I accept it was my mistake. then Later when getting our free drinks (combo w/ the board games for $15) I realise there's only 9 of us, so I ask "can I get a refund?". They say "no, sorry, we have a no refund policy - that's why I asked how many people before." They were both apathetic and unapologetic, and I was simply confused as this was mentioned 10 minutes after having made the purchase ??? Surely if there's no refunds they should mention it beforehand? Or at least there should be signage that they don't do refunds? Their service needs to be improved. Food was pricey but average. Chess sets were missing pieces, as well as checkers. Stains on the chairs. However many games to choose from, some new sets some old and missing pieces. There was hand sanitiser around on several tables, however no soap or toilet paper in the toilets. You return your played games on the return station where they will later sanitise the games. No complaints here, good job to battle covid, however the bathroom issue needs to be reviewed. Place was nice and cosy Overall if you're going as a large group you're better off buying the game and picking another cafe to eat and play the games at.

I went here for karaoke and not for board games so cannot comment on the board games. However, I loved the karaoke aspect of this cafe, the individual rooms are spacious and clean, and a nice atmosphere with some lights and plenty of microphones (even one big one on the stage for someone to shine), the toilets were pretty clean too. There was a wide selection of songs to choose from, including different languages of songs too! The graphics of the videos sometimes did not match the actual music video of the song and was a poor quality (not HD) but the sound quality was good and sound is the most important factor. Moving onto the food, I had the popcorn chicken with rice, which I highly recommend, it had a lot of flavour and was delicious. The popcorn chicken was crunchy, and all the flavours balanced well with the egg and spinach. However, be aware there are chunks of fatty pork in the rice when you order if you are not a fan of this. They also have a wide variety of drinks to choose from. I had the plain milk tea which was delicious, had a strong tea flavour, very sweet and refreshing. Overall, the experience was great for the price and would come again for karaoke and even try the board games aspect of the cafe! Service was great too!

Such a nice venue! Convenient location and has a buzzing atmosphere. Extensive drinks menu and a Taiwanese inspired food menu. Popcorn chicken bao was yum. Ordered the green milk tea which I probably won’t order again though. Karaoke rooms are spacious and clean. Friendly staff.

Awesome place for board games and food. Booked for a college dinner. Played games like codenames, spot it etc. Its usually a bit crowded in the evenings. Better book before.we booked for around 3 hours. The fare is average. Good food and service

Great place to stop by and try new board games with friends! The staff there have a good idea of how to play the games so can give you a quick run down if the rules start getting too complicated. Tasty and easy finger food is available while you play. The karaoke booths are also great!

$30 per person 2 - 6pm karaoke Include a drink. 👍Best non-alcohol karaoke venue. Kids and teens friendly. Clean and friendly staff. Quality sound system. Karaoke room with stand up mic and stage. We came with a group of 13 with half being teens. We had loads of fun. The karaoke systems has a variety of songs from around the world (Canton, Mandarine,Japanese, Thai, etc) The system is easy to use and the room is spacious. 👎The table in the room could be smaller so getting in and out of the room with big group would be easier. If we go again with teens, we will split into two rooms so adults and teens can have more singing time! Overall a good experience for family with teens and even kids.

Atmosphere here is always great, laughter and smiles at every table. The board game selection is great and the staff are all very knowledgeable and eager to help. Milkshakes are a must try and the food is delicious!! Thank you to the team today (31/10/23) for being so helpful with our game of Mysterium and for the great recommendations of future games to try! Can’t wait to visit again!!

boardgames or karaoke? 🥟 pork dumplings 🍜 minced pork noodle 🇹🇼 taiwander4 snack combo 🍗 popcorn chicken bao 🍠 sweet potato fries 🐽 pork belly rice 🏠: @chickchacafe 📍: A’Beckett Street 📝: Board game or Karaoke night for this weekend? Love @marcheboardgame for their amazing range of boardgames to okay and @kboxmelbourne for their fun list of songs to sing. The perfect place to hang this weekend. ❤️: I’ve always loved the Taiwanese food here since I first got to try during lockdown last year. From rice bowls with minced pork and Taiwanese sausage to snacks like crispy chicken and fried tofu, you just can’t stop indulging.

Chill place with nice Taiwanese food. Board games were aplenty and you get a free drink! They do kick you out at time limit though (fair enough - could have stayed for way more than 3 hours).

The place is amazing and cozy. The NO SPLIT BILL is not a problem with the technology available these days. My friends and I went as a group to the KTV and it was an amazing experience for a really good price! Definitely recommend it for all!

Nice place for gathering with buddies. Love the drinks and food✨recommended: for the board game section, they got a lot of variety. For the first attempt, it’s a bit lost for the game. I wish that staffs can introduce the famous game for the customers and and give a guideline. It definitely helps customers into board games vibe☺️☺️☺️

Nice fun Cafe with good selection of games. We went before brunch and they don't allow playing with food at that time. Food was nice. The Cafe is nice and staff are helpful. Their prices for playing games are a little steep imo, $20 per person, but they do have a nice selection of games.

The boardgames and karaoke are really great and definitely priced well. But if you haven't tried the food yet, I would definitely recommend it! It's so surprisingly delicious. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken is so so so tasty!!!

A lovely cafe with several board games to choose from. They have a karaoke bar that we didn’t get a chance to try out. Our reservation lasted for two hours. I’m not sure if they strictly enforce guests to leave after 2 hours. I believe it depends on how crowded it is. They have a decent selection of drinks and food too. A good place to hang out with your friends in your free time.

A really relaxed fun place to come play board games or enjoy Taiwanese food for lunch. They have several rooms for karaoke parties as well as lots of areas and a huge selection for board games. The food here is excellent and they have some unusual types of bubble tea too.

We joined as a D&D group and the staff were immensely helpful. They even gave us dice and dice towers, battle maps and props, and various other things as we played. WITHOUT US ASKING. That showed how AWESOME they are! We'll definitely come again! (When we can agree on the time, that is...)

Good location and great to have board game specific cafes. I thought the $25 per person to play is higher than other board game cafes I have tried. Also, I would have preferred bigger tables to allow more space to play. Good collection of games otherwise.

Had a great time visiting this board game cafe. There were plenty of game options for all group sizes. Loved the lychee iced tea, too.

Marche is famous for two things – its Taiwanese cuisine and the wide variety of board games available for customers to play (back when dining in was an option). Still, in the absence of being able to dine in, Marche is still worth a try for its affordable and delicious Taiwanese food. Flavours are a plenty here. The 3 Cups Chicken and Minced Pork both showcase amazing depth of flavours, as does the crispy Popcorn Chicken and the moreish Taiwanese Sausage. Well-seasoned and deeply savoury, the dishes here are downright enjoyable. Each main meal comes with a complimentary bubble tea. The drinks here are reasonably tasty, and the pearls are decent. Keep an eye out for the personalised drawings and messages on each of the cups!

It’s good deal for money. $20 per person for 3 hours comes with a drink + access to all their games. They organised the games in a way that is easy to access: games for 2, party games, classic games etc. The staff were also helpful and knowledgeable about the games we were looking to play. I’d recommend the cafe to couples, groups, families!

  • 5/5 Ashanti De S. 2 years ago on Google
The ambience is always very friendly. There are a variety of games to enjoy. I always have a good time here. Just remember to reserve a table prior to going. $15 pp for 3 hrs (board game).

So, on initial entry we were lost, we were given no direction by staff, found the choice of games very overwhelming. We were also sat (in an empty cafe) Next to a "staff" bike that was very awkwardly left inside the cafe setting area, even told - you're on the table next to the bike? Once "we" moved the bike, to enable access to our table and got underway on a game, the rest of our stay was great, food was great, drinks were pretty good, over all would go back again. Constructive criticism would be for greet staff to ask if guests if this is your 1st time visiting - this would enable staff and guests to get more of a indication as to how much direction or not, the guests may require.

It's an ideal venue for friend gatherings. Helpful staff and a good selection of songs and boardgames. Nice food and beverages too. Will definitely go back for more karaoke sessions = ) A friendly reminder: BRING YOUR PHONE CHARGER as you need your phone to order songs.

I absolutely love it here! The food is delicious, the drinks are interesting, and there is such a large collection of games to choose from! Tonight we played a game for the first time so one of the staff members patiently taught us how to play. Thank you very much to Luke for helping us pick and play a game, we had a lot of fun! We will definitely be returning for more fun nights out, would definitely recommend!

We had so much fun at Marche! It was so refreshing to spend an evening away from the screens. There are so many cool board games to choose from, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the design is warm and inviting with cozy lights, lush plants and apparent brick walls. We loved the staff's menu recommendations, the veggie dumplings and the lychee and mint drink were a perfect accompaniment to our board game fun. We had a peek at the karaoke rooms - well appointed for a night of singing regardless of your abilities, no one cares as long as you enjoy it. Thank you Ares and Marche Team!

3.5. The food was well priced but wasn’t anything special and the table was not cleaned and had to be asked to cleared. Good selection of board games but not all of them are in the best condition.

  • 4/5 Perry B. 2 years ago on Google
This place has an awesome games library, good eats and drinks and plenty of karaoke rooms to hire, as well as tables to play games at. My only thoughts are that they need to use coasters so games don't get damaged from liquids, and the collecting of used dishes is a bit slow. Other than that, it is a good time out for whatever your taste in games/music is.

  • 4/5 Alyssa M. 2 years ago on Google
It was lots of fun, I most definitely enjoyed every moment! I just wish there was a more private area for larger groups, we had a group of 11 and we are a loud and funny bunch, I felt bad for everyone else haha! Food was delicious, the iced chocolate was okay, probably wouldn’t get it again but overall so much fun and the aesthetics were awesome

A great place to play board games with friends. Food is decent but is a bit pricey. Sucks when people don't leave during their allocated booking. We arrived 10 minutes early but ended up starting 15 minutes past our booking.

Nice vibe and decently priced. I've been here with my friends a couple times for the board games and karaoke. We all really loved it and will definitely be coming back again 🥰

Great price for 3 hours of entertaining fun over board games! Huge selection and fun decorations all around. The karaoke rooms looked tempting too but we didn't have enough time. The drinks that came with the board game price ($20/3 hours) were a bit warered down but did the job accompanying the games and laughs. Thanks for the fun time! Recommend a visit!

I have visited a few times and overall my experience has been positive. Booking a table in advance is a must, even on week days as each time I've been ot has been booked out. Price is reasonable since a drink is included. Staff are knowledgeable and are more than happy to recommend games based on what you're wanting. Huge range if games, always able to try something new. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because the first time I visited, I was told to wait at a table away from the rest of the Cafe near the karaoke rooms whilst our table was cleared, we later inquired about changing to our table however were unsuccessful. This table was fine, just not ideal. The next time I visited, the table was much nicer. Would recommend for a chilled out activity in the city and will he back! I've actually since purchased some of the games I have discovered here !!

Definitely worth it. It's heaven for nerds. We managed to found this cafe on our last day visiting Melb. Snacks were delicious. 1 drink will be included in your session. Staff is knowledgeable with games selection and they can be a fair judge if you need in certain game.

A great place to go to with your friends to spend time together. All of the staff are really nice and they have a wide selection of board games and card games. They have a few option with drinks and food that are great to eat and drink. Highly would recommend to go to with your friends.

Had a very lovely experience at Marche on Saturday evening (20/06/2022). They have an extensive collection of board games, and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were kind enough to let us keep playing a little past our booking time, and we really appreciated that. For the price ($20 for 3 hours of gaming and a drink), I had an excellent time. Will return!

I came here with a friend without much expectations. To say the least, I think it's too overpriced considering what they offer. You can dine here without board games if preferred - it's got a nice atmosphere to study or just relax in. But in order to use the board games, you need to pay a fee. One of their staff members was pretty friendly and helped teach us how to play some of the games, which is why I'm giving 2 stars. Otherwise, I'd give this place no stars. Their menu was underwhelming. There were some nice drinks, including bubble tea, but there wasn't much food choice. I had a strange encounter when trying to order a vegetarian tofu option. One of their staff came to tell me that they couldn't cook it the original way they intended, so they had to fry it instead, which I was fine with. However, they came back again and asked if I was vegetarian, to which I answered no, but vegetarian options were preferred. They said that they cook using the same oil they cook their meat in, and so they would have to cook the tofu in that oil. It kind of put me off and kind of implied that their vegetarian options aren't actually vegetarian, so I suggest caution here. They were chill about giving us a refund for that menu item, but I don't think I'll be coming back here again.

They've refurbished the place ... I think. Then again, it's been awhile since we've been here.... Spacious rooms, enough to social distance (no pun intended) post covid19 and its good to be able to karaoke again. Songs are hard to find on the song selection thingy... mostly cuz it is in their original language (example, Japanese or Korean) and if you don't read the characters that well... you can't find it. It would be nice if when you type in English by spelling the name, the search will pick up the romaji characters too.

I went there with my friends the other day, the food was average, though their milkshakes and other drinks were great! They offer a wide variety of board games, however some games were visibly old and a little dirty. There was hand sanitizer at each table, however there was no soap in the bathroom's dispenser - which I think was quite concerning during covid times. Also, the bathroom floors were wet. The place's atmosphere was warm and cozy. The chairs were comfy, but had stains. Honestly, I think if you're planning on playing board games with a big group of friends you're better off buying a game and eating elsewhere. $15 gets you 3 hours with games you choose and a drink. ALSO, please note there is a NO SPLIT BILLS.

The food is good but besides that, the staff is really unprofessional. We were ignored all the time, the guy in the glasses at the entrance is just there not caring about anything and the girls serve you in the less caring way. There was a MOUSE, a mouse and the staff didint know what to do and they told the guy in the glasses. He didint care and they did nothing at all. I had high expectations about this place but we will choose another board game place for next time, it seems you are bothering the staff for being there.

Liked this place for some fun board games and kareoke. The staff can tell you how games work if you don’t. However the host made us feel uncomfortable for our group having some of the group members just sitting here not playing, basically forcing us to pay just to watch with our friends.

We went there for take away lunch and ordered the pork belly rice and pop corn chicken noodle with two bubble teas. The food was delicious and authentic tw flavor. Most importantly all the take away container are BIODEGRADABLE!! This means so much to me, as all the take away Resto I had use so much plastic. So much take away waste accumulated during the COVID time. So thank you for the effort! Also got a cute msg on the bubble tea cup. So cute!

They also have joined a great initiative to fight against food waste with "Ywaste", so I was able to take a delicious meal home after a great night with my friends. I can not speak highly enough of this place. It will definitely be one of my new go to places. Great initiatives and a great environment.
