Well although my name ain't Dorothy, I still feel a bit like I've been swept up from Kansas and flung into a different world. I needed a new laptop (which I am now using to write this review) and thusly had to venture into the wilds of the Portland dystopia. This was particularly harrowing due to the ridiculous size of my truck which navigated the parking structure like an egg navigating a chicken's rear end. Arriving at the Apple place felt a good deal like arriving at Oz with the high gated walls and i fully expected a head to pop out and squawk, "Who rang that bell? But they passed me easily into the hallowed halls where I was met with a bevy of kids young enough to be my great grand kids, or at least so it seemed. I was waiting for them to start singing Follow the yellow brick road and running around like munchkins, but instead they swooped in and started taking care of me. Boy! That's kind of a shock! I mean they were efficient and nice... and patient. They took me by the hand and led me through my options and I didn't feel talked down to or pressured or anything. I mean, what's going on here?! They did seem a little shocked when I pulled out my wad on of cash to buy the damn thing. I think cash is kind of a dying thing, like eight track tapes or AOL addresses. And while I'm talking to this young woman, suddenly someone magically appears with my laptop and places it in front of me like a stack of bacon and biscuits. Very tricky. I was amazed that what looked like the Land of Oz chaos actually seemed pretty damned efficient. Oh, and I should mention the bathroom! A joy for an old man to find a clean spacious bathroom before once again braving bewildering streets of Portland. Maybe I won't wait five years before shopping here again, although I might have my wife drive.

Arrived at 5 (store closes at 7) Modest traffic in store but not “busy” Asked for help at 6 and was told “no appointments” no offer to help us for an hour. advised staff “I’m a little thick and need a yes or no, can we buy a computer tonight?” Robotic reply, “We have no appointments” “I need a straight answer, can we buy a computer now? I need a yes or no.” Refused and made the interaction tense I made clear, “I’m sorry I’m a little thick and need a yes or no answer” she continued to refuse. Turn out this is the store manager!! So called store manager “Yakima” REFUSED to give a basic answer. Kept repeating no appointments. I was clear that I have a disability and need a straight answer to understand and again and repeatedly refused to answer. As I walked away I was advised that she thought it was funny to mess with me. I don’t think making fun of disabilities and making life hard on people is funny. Yes, stores get busy There were many staff members chatting with each other and NOT with customers. Yes, I’ve been to this store and made purchases in the past. Sometimes with delay based on how busy others quickly. Yes, the store looks like a prison. Yes, parking is hell. Yes, lot of goofy folks downtown and many closed storefronts. But we went here anyway. Yes, Apple is one of the highest priced brands. Yes, the company is so big they could care less about a single $2k sale to a student with their disabled parent. We came anyway. Stay away from this store as the manager, Yakima, is horrible and takes pleasure from making life hard on people.

My in-store experiences were pleasant after I got past the fortified zombie-apocalypse metal fencing surrounding the building. I would have rated the Apple store at least a 4-star, but the metal fencing needs to come down before I will do that. The store now mimics the software guard rails, forcing features and developer controls they've baked into their products.

Its unfortunate about the place being safeguarded like a bank... Guess the scars around downtown were cut deep.. but walk past that and you have people waiting around to help you like car salesmen, only without the pressure to buy stuff! Just browsing around and seeing that huge screen in the middle showcasing the product is so cool!

Came here to pickup airpods that I ordered online. The whole experience was great. Seemed a bit crowded inside but didn't have to wait long for someone to help me. The employees are friendly and willing to answer any questions - maybe even give you some tips on how to use your new product to it's full potential.

To echo what a lot of people are saying. Getting service in this store is a challenge. There were 10-20 employees milling around down one end of the store but barely any coverage at the other end. The only store employees who seemed interested in me being in the store were the two security guards. Both of them decided that the best way to do their job was to stand within 10 feet of me at all times.

I always get quick and friendly service here. Today, Nathan helped us out and he made choosing a new watch really fun. It’s always nice to encounter not just super kind and friendly employees, but also ones that enjoy their job. Thanks, Nathan! :)

Crazeee location but once a year visit is good! Lots to see, selections limited. Tablets sold out but able to order online. Customer service is accessible indeed.

Surrounded by security fencing due to Portland's inability to deal with ongoing riots, or arrest those responsible for the destruction of the city or graffiti that's pretty much everywhere. I guess the fencing is better than boarding up the windows, but basically downtown Portland has become a slum. This store also has low inventory levels. Unfortunately, not a recommended experience. Probably won't change until the political landscape does.

Thank you for the service! All staff are amiable. Thank you for helping me to buy my iPhone 14 Pmax in cash because I got into trouble by buying on the website.

Seems like you can’t go to any Apple Store these days without at least one of the employees behaving overtly rudely. Every time I deal with this company, it just leaves a *filthy* taste in my mouth. I was going to say a bad taste, but bad just isn’t strong enough of a word for the way some of these people think it’s ok to treat you. No wonder I put off getting my screen fixed for so long. I can afford to pay for a new phone. But no way would I want Apple to have any more of my money. They don’t deserve it. I would rather see them go out of business. And as an iOS App developer with apps on the App Store, that means a lot coming from me. Let me know when you guys want to start caring about your customers again. I seem to remember a different Apple. That Apple no longer seems to occupy to the buildings labeled “Apple”.

Despite it being in downtown portland it feels clean and safe. Great public transportation connectivity. I’ve never encountered a violent homeless person or human feces along the block that the store front is on. The staff is really well organized and efficient

The store is cool but wow is it a hassle to get some help here. You’ll get an appointment only to wait even longer. There’s no sense of urgency, just “geniuses” standing around chit chatting with one another while countless people wait for service. It’s really quite frustrating and makes me wonder why I purchased Apple care. Please can yall find a way to stream line how you help people. Setting appointments is great but make no sense if a person can’t be helped at their appointment time. Been sitting here so far for over 20 minutes and NOTHING.

Even though it was a very busy day in the shop, Nick (gentleman at the Genius Bar), was super helpful and immediately took the time to assist me with my Lightning port issue. I felt like a priority and that customer service left a great impression. Experiences like this are great reminders for why I stick with Apple products, thanks again Nick! 🙂

During our trip to Portland, we stopped by the Apple store to pick up an order. To our surprise, there was a lengthy queue, but despite this, we managed to enter within our allocated time slot. Inside, the store was bustling with activity and quite crowded. As we browsed and made additional purchases, it felt like there was a sense of urgency for us to complete our transactions and move along.

My husband bought a phone from an app store. The first months the phone worked well, after 4 months there was a problem with the rear camera. Apple acknowledged that this was a warranty case and that it was a problem with the phone, and they replaced the camera for free. A month later, the phone got wet. Water immediately got in there, the front camera was damaged, and after another day the screen turned completely white and stopped working. Apple employees refused to repair it and replace it for free, as the phone was damaged by water. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is a waterproof phone. Question: Are your phones not waterproof? Or did you brake protection against moisture while repairing the camera? Please answer my questions and provide the best conditions for replacing the phone. We refuse to pay for a new phone 13 pro Max $600 and even more so than this amount, I’m ready to buy iPhone 14 pro max for this price and give your broken phone. I believe this is entirely Apple's fault and you should fix my issue.

I'm glad we had an appointment for the Genius Bar. There was a wait for shoppers to enter. However, I think it's great that Apple is limiting entry making everyone's experience inside the store a better one. Staff was super helpful and friendly.

Brian was so helpful when I was purchasing a new phone. While we ran into two separate problems and I had to return two days in a row, he was attentive, accommodating, and extremely apologetic regarding the situation. Going to the apple store will never be a ~fun~ experience, but he made it genuinely easier and I am really glad I worked with him.

Preface: Mask Up I do not feel they are making a political statement by any means, but are socially conscientious to all people with all kinds of immune systems and for that I respect this store. The review: I do not have a lot of Apple products, just one, but they fit me in immediately after I described my unique circumstances and Sonny was fantastic in the patience they had with helping me while my laptop was acting extremely peculiar. For their cleanliness and assistance alone I am rating this place 5 stars, it also helps that they had lots of personel, as well as a patient and understanding demeanor. From what I could see while I had my short wait and through the assistance given to me everyone left with a spring in their step which usually only comes from one of two things, the product/service they needed to be fulfilled and great customer service. Sonny, if you read this, I made it to Thailand just fine and my laptop is doing great :)
