Golf and resort Ona Valle Romano. Is a decent hotel that I'm not sure how it's rated as a four-star hotel. The location is poor in comparison to other hotels, as the only way to leave and return to the hotel is by personal transportation or taxi. The hotel's service is appalling. Ivan, the manager, I believe, is to blame. Staff are arrogant and entitled, and are not open to criticism. As a student, I've been at the resort for four months, and a lot has happened during that time. To begin, a staff member stole my airpods case while I was inside the house, and when I complained immediately, they never took action or paid for a new airpod case.Another example of inadequate hotel service and management. Yesterday, Monday afternoon. While I was napping with deep lament. A large black wooden board that hangs above the bed frame in the hotel apartment suite. I fell and scratched my left side of my forehead, requiring me to be rushed to the hospital because I was bleeding nonstop and in excruciating pain, and I received six stitches on my left side of my forehead. Even though the board barely touched my head, it caused that much damage. There are no structural damages, but I'll be concussed for at least another week or two because of the stitches. Even being exposed to daylight is prohibited.I've only mentioned what happened to me, which is an unfortunate situation that I'd rather not discuss. But I have no choice. Because, while this was happening, and my housemate quickly informed and rushed me to the reception, they were slow to assist me and reluctant to take me to the hospital and give me the immediate medical assistance that I needed because I was dizzy and bleeding visibly. They followed by refusing to assist in any way. When I had an open wound across my head, I had to call my own Uber to get to the hospital. This resulted in six sticthes, a few scratches on my head, and a concussion. The following day, I informed my school's head of accommodation and the hotel manager of what had occurred, sharing photos and evidence of the accident. My university's head of accommodation came to talk to me and try to understand what happened, and told me that the hotel didn't know how they could help me because it was a situation that, according to the manager, had never happened. They went on to say that they couldn't be held liable for something that never happened because it couldn't be their fault that an object fell on a customer's head who had paid to stay in the hotel until May. I didn't even sue the hotel for what happened. I simply asked them to cover my medical expenses, and they have yet to reimburse me.Nothing has been said since I sent an email. I haven't heard anything from the manager except that he went to check on other apartments to see if the wooden boards were properly fixed, but he didn't bother to check on the apartment where the structure fell. This is not the first time that something has fallen. Late December of last year. A piece of the roof from my friend's house landed on his head. I also recall an incident in which a mirror fell on the sofa while we were watching TV. Fortunately, the first two times this happened, no one was hurt, but the third time something similar happened, I was severely injured in my head. That information should be taken as fact by the manager. I can confidently guarantee that if a survey was required,99% of the students in the residence would express some level of dissatisfaction. Whether it's with hotel staff treatment, cleaning services, or accidents like mine where something fell on top of someone. if you want to spend your vacation in a safe and pleasant environment. Save your money and don't bother making a reservation at this hotel.

Could be better. At the hotel the weather is very windy, but the rooms are extremely nice and spacious, yet it does lack some services. The card used to demagnetise without us putting it near a magnet far way too many times (over 5 times in a week), which was a bit frustrating and disappointing. The staff is very friendly, yet when we asked for a clothing horse they didn't deliver. It was overall a positive experience but I have mixed feelings about this place. The place isn't bad but I won't be going again. I'm not sure if I would recommend or not. The place also has very nice views. My stay was mid-August 2017.

Their staff have not been properly trained in customer service, so expect this part of the stay to be terrible. The interior of the units don’t look at all like the photos. Chair seats were peeling, curtains were ripped, blood stains on the kids’ blanket and “fresh” towels that smell so bad you have to wonder if they were used before and re-folded. I made two bookings, the first one was for one week and the second for two weeks, but ended up canceling the second reservation. The price is attractive for a reason, but lesson learned. You get what you pay for and in this case, it was a disgusting room with old furniture, terrible customer service, upgraded wifi that didn’t work for the entire week and pools that were over crowded. The only positive part of the stay was a decent breakfast.

We paid for one of the most expensive apartments with "sea view" and it wasn't worth it. The apartments are quite worn down: the place smells pretty bad, the sofas are broken, the apartment was very dirty when we arrived despite having done online check in. We had to go to the reception and complain, and then sent someone to clean. We had half board and we ended up having dinner at a restaurant because the food was like a neverending kids menu with nuggets, croquettes, and french fries + some salads. Every day was the same. Only 3 high chairs for babies when they can accommodate more than 200 families, and the restaurant staff was clearly overwhelmed despite not offering table service (you had to go to the bar to order drinks). There were 3 pools and only one open, too crowded and too dirty. And they charge you 2€ +10€ deposit for the pool towels, it's a scam. The location is too far from Estepona, and in the middle of nowhere, too hot. Don't try calling reception if you have any issues, they won't answer. You have to go all the way there and queue. All in all, quite disappointing

Golfing holiday, 7 couples, 10 days, BB&D Jan 19. Mixed feelings for this resort. Quiet location away from Estepona. No cafes or shops nearby. You really need a car. Difficult to find your way around the apartment blocks when you first get there. There are two rows of apartments. The fronts of each block look opposite directions over the golf course with stunning views. The backs face each other and are a warren of concrete walkways. There's 9 floors with stairs and lifts ranging from -5 thru 0 to 3. You use a combination of stairs and lift to get to your room. Blocks are referred to by a colour. We were in green 315. Make sure you get the right colour or you'll end up at the wrong room - we did. The apartments vary in design. They are very pleasant and spacious. Ours had a shower/WC at the entrance then a large room with fitted kitchen, dining area, seating area with patio doors leading to a very large balcony with great views. Kitchen had everything except a tea towel - dish washer, washing machine, oven & microwave. Comfy seats & good table & chairs. We had a double bedroom with patio doors to the balcony, second bedroom with twin beds & a main bathroom with bath & shower over. Other apartments had one single bed in their 2nd bedroom. The food was disappointing as it was always cold. The food was placed on hot plates. But the food containers were cold to the touch. Plates weren't heated. So cool food was put on cold plates. There was a microwave for reheating. I've stayed in a number of golf resorts in Spain and for food this was very poor. In the dining room there was a bar for drinks but there was no comfy chairs or settees to sit in after the meal. We were told we could sit at the dinning tables. The chairs were wood seats so not very comfy. There is building work and I understand this to be a new restaurant & bar - a much needed improvement. In January the golf club bar closed at 7.00 so not in use for after evening meal. The club house is very pleasant, with quite a walk from the apartments. Wouldn't like to carry golf clubs back & forth. Maybe there's somewhere to leave them at the GC. We used the cars. If you're looking for a self catering holiday in a quiet location and you have transport this could be a success. The golf course is very well kept. The greens are fast. A bit too fast when the pin is on a slope as you could easily be off the green or have the ball returned back down the slope. Holes 1 & 12 are a nightmare. It's a success if you can find your ball. Played the course 5 times and made the 12th green only once on the last day. It's a challenge. The photo shows the view from the first tee. Left hand dog leg down a steep slope. You can see the walkways & lift towers between the apartment blocks.

The apartment was lovely, amenities all good. Unfortunately the noise from other guests and very loud obnoxious cars on the road outside was a huge disappointment. Several nights of my stay I was stopped from sleeping until past 3am when the noise calmed down, one night we had a stranger buzzing the door at 5:30am, he didn't stop until the door was answered. I would not recommend or return.

Run away, there is few problems with this (resort), no setting in the swimming pools people are sitting in the floors in the stairs and near the bins, swimming pools are dirty cloudy and disgusting, there is no free wifi and when you pay for wifi it’s not working, also the cold and hot water is not working properly inside the appartement and the beds are so horribly uncomfortable, I had to end my holidays and book somewhere else because nothing was plaisant. It’s a désastre

Currently staying in a nice two bedroom apartment overlooking the golf course. Well maintained and with all modern appliances and a nice bathroom and also a separate shower room. Checking in was fast, Andrea was super nice and very efficient and the other lady showed us to our room. Breakfast is plentiful with many options with both indoor and outdoor seating, can get a bit busy at times though. Access around the property can be confusing as it's huge with two rows of apartment blocks but once you know the layout straight forward. A lift appears not to be working so not sure about disabled suitability. Not used the pool areas so can't comment. Parking outside on the road is easy and a car is certainly advisable as the location is out of Estapona town which is a five minute drive away. It's fairly quiet at night but have been woken once or twice but we're out of season but can imagine in summer months this place could be a different experience. I think the road side apartments are being used for longer rentals by the government, the place is absolutely huge and many colleges and schools use this place for kids school trips. If your after a resort style hotel this place is not for you but if you want a modern, clean and well maintained apartment on the edge of town for a good price you can't go wrong.

Just ok! I think you get what you pay for, my first impression outside was good. However when I walked into the penthouse I was expecting more. The first thing I noticed was a strong smell of bleach, there were 🐜 all over the floor, the chairs are all ripped, the furniture looked old We were 3 people renting but we only got 2 sunbeds on our 64m2. terrace. The pool was overcrowded there were nowhere for us to sit but the floors. And lastly we were told we had free wifi but it never worked so don't expect any.even the one you pay for it dosen't work. All In all this is nothing what we expected.

Perfect two bedroom apartment close to Estepona: clean, safe and great customer service. Make sure to book a sun bed before it's too late! There's a bus that takes you to the city and the beach, leaving every hour from the hotel.

There is only a very small amount of sun beds by the pool. People forced to sit on stairs, on the floor, no guarantee of sun. This is a disgrace. Central pool is cloudy which suggests chlorine is not working correctly, this increases bacteria which is dangerous. The other pool filter on the floor is broken and full of green molde. Breakfast is cold, they don’t have proper food heating to preserve the temperature of food, so eggs, hash brown's end up cold and chewy. I want to leave this hotel but unfortunately booked too many days.

Lots of problems with this accommodation, the Wi-Fi is not free other than they say they have a free one with what’s app, they did not even clean the room fully, on top of that it smells like cigarettes, it is not a big deal to me, but you should know that most of the rooms /apartments are a far walk from the parking area. The furnishings were bare and very cheap, you can hear dogs barking all throughout the complex, as well as the highway. This was so bad I don’t know if it even deserves one star, I checked out after 20 minutes and booked another hotel. The Ona refused to refund even though I did not stay there, I totally understand if I stayed there then asked for a refund but I did not stay there. My girlfriend will be writing a review of her experience with this place as well shortly.

We had an excellent stay at the resort .To be honest it was mind blowing my wife was so happy with it she suggested to stay here for one year .I thought it was a bit over the top but I did understand her .Therefore we booked straightaway one more night . All kitchen appliance and other appliances are all Bosch .No cutting corners the apartment was properly build . Great golf course and sea view . The neighbourhood was very quiet hence we slept very well ! Price quality 10 out of a 10 . Easy parking . The kitchen is well equipped therefor we did invite straightaway our friends to come over for have dinner with us . Next year we will come back and stay longer . Shueyong

We have very mixed feelings overall as the stay would have been great if we had not opted for the half-board option with dinners included. The rating would have been 9/10 at least and Excellent, but this hotel shot themselves in the foot by not taking their restaurants under control! The location is great with lovely views, away from the hustle and bustle which is great for families with small children and if you have a hire car. At first it is a little tricky to navigate the block of apartments, but after a while all became easy and a map of the site is available from reception. The receptionist was great – we were given free of charge parking for our first night in the underground car park as the street was full. The underground car park is very tight and the spaces are tiny, and at 8 EUR per night certainly not worth it. On street parking is free but you may need to walk quite a bit if you get there late so not ideal with lots of luggage and/or with kids/mobility issues. The receptionist also gave us free premium wifi for all of our devices for the entire week which was a great bonus – the connection was very quick with no drop outs. The apartment was great, clean, spacious, all as advertised, a lovely balcony/terrace with a great view. The only downside – no kettle. There was a rather tired coffee maker and after asking at reception, a kettle was provided to us but it was rather grim and dirty, the water tasted foul after boiling so we never used it. Boiling water in a saucepan and microwave worked fine although far from ideal. But this is where the positives end. As a family with two small children, we always try to go with half-board options so we do not have to worry about breakfast and dinner. The ‘El Tenador’ restaurant is quite simply – awful. No other word for it. The waiters were lovely and breakfasts were bearable (the juice at breakfast is more like squash – dilute with gallons of water), but the food served at dinner was disgusting – very little choice, the ‘hot’ food was ALWAYS cold and of questionable quality, tasteless/bland. Barely any desserts on offer, very limited fruit and vegetables and even then they were often spoiled – even canned fruits!!! I was half-tempted to invite someone from the reception to dine with us one night and honestly say that they think this is acceptable for the money paid. I reported this to reception and requested whether we could use any alternative restaurants on site (think there is one more) – no response whatsoever. All in all, a lovely accommodation option but I would strongly recommend going self catering or with breakfast only. Do not waste your money on dinners. We have stayed at many half-board hotels in Spain and beyond and this is by far the WORST catering we have experienced!

The apartment is run down. Smell old and worn, holes on stained dirty curtain! Stained walls, worn out sofa that you just can't sit too long without getting a back ache. Only 1 English channel BBC. Chairs are worn out and peeling off. Lift is out of order, this place just look very run down and hard and uncomfortable. I have booked 14 nights but regreted it. Have to pay a penalty for early check out.. but it is my vacation and if I am not happy with the place here I should have the right to check out. The photo at the website looks better than apartment. I told the reception that I don't like the place, but they are not I interested to know more. They also never answer email, so dont border to sent one.

  • 3/5 Jonas A. 8 months ago on Google
first of all the apartment doesn't look like the pictures on the internet, not a single plant and no sunbeds on the terrace. There is no breakfast in the room like in the pictures. It is listed as a 4 star hotel on booking.com, if you then look at Google it is a 3 star hotel and on request it is no longer a hotel but an apartment complex. The kitchen should be equipped but many things are missing and the existing things like the knives are blunt and broken. There were no bowls, no small forks for our child, no parchment paper (not even at the on-site convenience store or at the front desk) and no frying pan. We didn't get the frying pan until halfway through our stay, although we told them immediately after checking in. It runs almost all day until midnight. Very loud music by the pool so you can hardly relax, even in the apartment with the windows and doors closed it was clearly audible. We personally didn't like the breakfast and dinner and when we wanted to cancel this we were told we had to call a hotline, unfortunately after an announcement in Spanish they hung up, so we didn't manage to cancel anything. The staff at the front desk was very friendly but unfortunately not at the buffet, there were always employees who wanted to clear the table, although you were obviously not ready. The apartment itself was nice and clean, the beds comfortable. The air conditioning could not be warmer than 24 degrees and not colder than 20 degrees. The outlet of the air conditioner was permanently wet and it was dripping. The patio door couldn't be locked at all and this is on the ground floor, the reason being that the patio door was forced open (you can see the signs of a break in) and nothing was fixed. The front door looked similar and wasn't really safe, if you locked it from the inside you could get in from the outside if you pressed the door handle down often enough. The ceiling light in the second bedroom was not working and nothing was done when asked. The glass table on the terrace is broken the glass top was hanging down on one side so you couldn't put anything on the table. There is rubbish in many places in the facility or it is not clean, e.g. in the elevators. One of the elevators was making such a bad noise that we decided not to use the elevators anymore. The conclusion at the end, for the money (923€/week), it's okay, but you could improve a lot, e.g. the equipment in the kitchen or the damage to the doors. Price performance is ok for the high season.

The appartament was super stinky of cigarette smoke . It is super weird, despite the girl from reception said sorry for that, no other room was offered. Cleaning lady eith sprsy in yhe handd was sent like it would help to remove the smell from sofas , curtains etc. Appartament itself seemed to be comfy some years ago, but needs upgrade. Toilet doors were not closing, dinning table chairs were really hardly used. Just sad .

large hotel complex with swimming pool and golf courses to the surrounding area. the apartments have thick walls, air conditioning, tight windows - despite the hotel being fully occupied, the aparament was quiet and we had privacy. the terrace was large and well equipped. beautiful view. well-equipped rooms, iron, ironing board, washing machine, dishwasher, cooker, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, TV in each room, large spacious wardrobe, comfortable mattresses, comfortable furniture, well-equipped 2 bathrooms, shower and bathtub. delicate cotton curtains in the windows that protect against mosquitoes, coffe Express ( type with filters) the hotel is located outside the city but there is a free shuttle bus every hour to the center of estepona, it takes 8 minutes so no problem. the suite was clean and well tidied up, the appearance is simple but all good quality

Check in was a 30 minute nightmare (2 employees and how many hundreds of rooms?). WiFi was down the whole time and our upgrade to "Sea view" was a tiny sliver of blue (see picture). The suite itself was very nice and clean, the pool was delightful. The cabana bar staff was nice, but the food was sub-par at best.

Only my third night here but want to share my experience from the restaurant. Generally it's been good, menu is limited but what they have is prepared really well and it's a good variety. So not sure what other reviews are complaining about when it comes to food. However, today I hadn't even started my appetizer and then the main course arrived 😂 They arrived within 3 minutes of each other so it wasn't me being slow... I've been to a few places but this is a first. Not sure if I should laugh or cry but the staff is in need of some training on Basics of Running a Restaurant.
