Worse place ever! Just call it a money pit, if you have good insurance you're there forever. If you're homeless and no insurance your out of there. I filed an appeal and the magistrate said you have 2 hours to release her. They should be charged with insurance fraud. Nurses don't follow doctor orders , Nurse Jen is the worst, only good workers are the techs. Wouldn't even give 1 star.

This place is a joke.I got Baker act pulled on me when I went in voluntarily. They lie when they tell you that you can leave anytime. I wanted to leave after 3 days. They pulled baker act on me and forced me to stay 4 more days. Now they want me to pay $2100 b/c my insurance wouldn’t pay it. Total b/s $600 dollars a day to sleep on a piece of foam on plywood. Not kidding!!!!!

I was brought here by Florida statute due to a poor choice of wording at an ER. There were not enough beds on the floor I was supposed to be on, so I was placed in the geriatric ward for an evening. I will say the nurses and techs on this floor were very kind for the 24 hours I was there. However, when I was moved to the appropriate floor, it was a nightmare. I met with a Dr. and a social worker and explained to them my situation and that it was all a misunderstanding and it seemed like they understood. I come to find out, the doctor only prescribed me medication that I didn't even need and the social worker did nothing. My husband brought clothes at 1:45pm and I did not receive them until after 6pm! I kept asking for my belongings and no one could seem to locate it. After my required 72 hours, I was told that I was still a risk to myself and that they were keeping me. I was specifically told my "Dr. Mike" that the facility superseded the law and they could keep me as long as they wanted. I told them keeping me was detrimental to my health, my family and my job. He could care less. He told me to see a nurse for medication for my anxiety. I have never had anxiety in my life. All this facility wants to do is drug their patients and not help anyone. I did not meet with any counselors, therapists, social workers to assess my situation. I was just told that I was still a risk based on what had happened in the ER. When the medication nurse called me to take my meds that I did not need, I told her I did not need them. She was rude and condescending about the whole thing. She treated the other patients with the same disrespect. A gentleman who did not have the proper insurance was begging for help, but they were forcing his discharge because the insurance was not going to pay. Needless to say they kept me for 7 days, against my will, risking my job, my kids schooling and my mental health so they could bill my insurance $2700 a night for me being there. The facility is not there to help anyone. They are there to bill insurance companies. They keep you past the Florida statute 72 hours because they immediately file a court date, before they even assess you, so that they can hold you legally. They will then discharge you right before that court date because they know they don't have a leg to stand on. The counseling groups they have are pathetic. The leaders are rude, condescending and unhelpful if you go against their agenda. I wouldn't wish this facility on my worst enemy.

I felt unsafe and could not sleep well, I only could trust a few people that were there, and a few of the fellow patients… (I am not going to fill things out and do someone else’s job for them!!) I was diagnosed with PTSD and OCD after having a personal issue in 2022 and also Hurricane Ian while I was there 😔💕🌸. I had to do my own wound care while I was there every 2-3 hours, then plead for pain medication. (Hurry up and wait) I have since turned in my two weeks notice with a general/vascular surgeon I have worked with off and on for over 15 years 😔💕🌸 I would not wish to baker act my own worst enemy😔💕🌸 Thank you EMC

Please do not bring your loved ones to this hospital unless you want them to suffer. I am not a patient, I am a loved one. All the bad reviews are right. They do not care for their patients, they ignore them, they are rude to them, they do not explain anything to the patient and they’ll try to keep you in there as long as they can even though it’s not necessary. It’s a money pit. Only consider it if your loved one is very likely to harm themselves or end their lives and even there I would reconsider. I didn’t put my loved one in here since I have no legal power, but I had to listen to the person I love the most suffering and being neglected. It’s something I wouldn’t wish on my worst a enemy. Since my loved one discharge he’s had nightmares every night and wakes up screaming from them. This place will keep your loved one heavily sedated to the point they can’t even keep their eyes open during a conversation. Please listen to the reviews, don’t be like my loved one’s family and say that none of this places will have a good review and put them in there anyways. Please run as far as you can from this jail. You will regret your decision.

Weirdest Place Ever: The environment is unsettling and you can just tell this place is sketchy. Insurance Fraud actively taking advantage of the desperate and in-need of this community. Detox? They're gonna slowly medicate you and force you to stay per "protocol". Food is trash, Beds are trash and you will meet some of the weirdest people ever. You'll feel like you're in jail. With some psychos. The nurses and techs are awesome, though. You're better off going to the ER. This place just has a nice name and nice landscaping but the inside is something out of a movie. Some people were cool, others I am actually terrified that they are actually out here in the public. You'll spend a total of 15 mins talking to an actual doctor, the rest is sleeping and waiting until lunch or something. You have read enough bad reviews already, I don't know what more you need to look at. STAY. AWAY. FROM. THIS. JAIL.

I would give fewer stars if I could! It's very telling that the organization only responds to positive reviews and offers no recompense. Now, I won't say mental health facilities are ever FUN to go to, but they are generally encouraged to feed their patients. In my experience it's also a pretty good idea to let patients who come in with existing prescriptions take that medication. Oh! If you wear glasses they'll be sure to confiscate them for your protection, good luck! Despite the fact that I never consented to treatment, I've been harassed by the billing office over numerous bills. You'd think, that being the case, that they'd be eager to take my calls when I try to settle the amount! Unfortunately I've never been able to talk to a human being on their phone system. One last thing, the outpatient treatment they set you up with, DNA Therapy, is outstandingly bad! After I tried to switch doctors within their organization they refused to fill my prescription, leading to a full relapse of mental illness. If you've got the choice, go elsewhere.

My father was baker acted on December 20. They would not let me speak to him without a patient ID in which they would not give me and I had to contact an attorney to get. They kept him til January 4 but wouldn’t give a reason as to why. This is a horrible inhuman hospital that cares only about money

Park Royal is a fraudulent, misleading and manipulative facility. I would not wish this place on my worst enemy. Be ware if that if you have a family member here you have to advocate like hell for them or yourself. Just one example out of the many I have is that they diagnosed a loved one with major depressive disorder, made false claims on his charts of things my loved one said, false assessments to match this diagnosis. A day after the psychiatrist said he was fine to go in a couple of days because this person came in voluntary, they started pushing for ECT. This is wrong and unethical. Shame on this facility. I feel for all the patients in Lee County that go here for help. You’re a fraud and I’ll report you to every entity! Your intake RN is a shame to my profession. I wish I could have her name so I could report her to the nursing board. If she can see this review, I just want to tell her that there’s a God, that’s watching her. One day she could be in the same situation, and I hope to God that the person that’s claiming to help her show empathy and doesn’t try to manipulate you into checking yourself in.

No person should ever be forced to be observed by these individuals. It’s a living nightmare, except you don't actually get any sleep. I’ve never been to jail but …..this is what I imagined. If you ever get forced here… call someone, even your own doctor, for help to get you out IMMEDIATELY. If you have a choice and really need help, go somewhere else that will benefit your needs. This is not a healthy place.

PLEASE, STAY AWAY FROM HERE IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN! I would rate zero stars if I could. It has been over a year now and I still have nightmares of this place. I actually think this place gave me PTSD. I was baker acted due to depression and this place made it 100 times worse. I was stuck there 11 unimaginable days. The staff couldn’t care less about their patients, except a few techs who I found helpful. You have to beg and wait days to see a doctor only for them to see you for 15 minutes and then decide to keep you even longer than they originally said for no reason (probably extra money in their pockets). They were neglectful and kept forgetting my medication, so they had to keep me even LONGER to observe me on it. Then after that, they kept me even LONGER because they said I wasn’t “making friends”. When the only sane people were bullying me horrifically and telling me how to off myself properly, and the others were scaring me half to death. We had rock hard beds in shared rooms with just about paper sheets and paper pillows. It was always freezing and I could never sleep because something was always going on. People screaming, crying, fighting, etc. There was also nothing to do but battle for the one TV they have or color kids coloring pages for 11 days straight with broken crayons. The groups were also horrific and not helpful at all. We read poetry and did question games or yoga. None of which helped my mental health in the slightest and just ways to kill time. Most days you’d find me staring out my window from this prison and crying where nobody could see me. This was also just after covid times, so i didn’t get a single visitor allowed in my entire stay. We’d just fight for time on the phones like they were the last slice of pizza. Speaking of which, the food was all bland and disgusting and if you’re a vegetarian or vegan, you’re out of luck pretty much. It was absolutely miserable in every single way but I (barely) managed not to break and got out of there as soon as I could. PLEASE, I cannot stress this enough, find other options. Stay strong. Find a psych and therapist yourself before things get to this point. Get help elsewhere. ANYTHING BESIDES THIS COLD HEARTLESS PRISON OF A PLACE!!!! I will never feel truly at peace again until this place is investigated and shut down. The horror stories I heard from the other patients were even worse than mine and include assault from other patients and staff and many other things. STAY AWAY FROM PARK ROYAL!! PLEASE SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!!!!

Ive been to other treatment centers and this one was by far the worst, a disgusting excuse for a hospital. The staff was cruel and mean, they did everything in their power to make you stay as long as possible, they refused to give certain medications and the doctors were clearly pushing certain medications in order to benefit their own pockets. This place has no reason at all to be called a “hospital”, it is merely a place for collecting money from insurance and pharmaceutical companies. It’s disgusting that they pretend to be a treatment center. This business should be shut down as soon as possible and I will do everything in my power to make that a reality.

Disgusted with the care and treatment patients seeking help received in this place!! The staff SHOULD NOT be working with patients or humans in desperate need of mental health help!! They are all RUDE, have major attitude problems and are cold hearted with absolutely no empty or compassion!! They speak to the patients as if they were criminals yell at them discredit them if they asked nicely if it was possible to have their food warmed up. It was HEARTBREAKING to hear my loved one tell me how the LOUSY STAFF MEMBERS in unit 3A yelled at a gentleman telling him his foods not cold that she just heated it up simply because he asked for d she could please heat up his meatball sub , that was OBVIOUSLY COLD when he bite into it! My loved one received no toothbrush, no towel, I delivered her clothes at 230 and it was 730 the next morning when we spoke and she still had not received her clothes! She has not seen a Dr to help her deal with her depression. when she did see the Dr it was to let her know she couldn’t discharge herself until 24hrs after asking to be let go. She told the Dr I need to see someone and speak to a DR, the Dr then told her that he is a Dr and that bc he is a Dr that she actually is talking to one!! His tone and attitude was HORRIBLE! That was a UNBELIEVABLE response towards someone contemplating suicide!!! She told him that she needed help and someone to talk with about her thoughts and how she was feeling and he tells her he is taking to her , but nothing about HER reason to voluntarily commit was discussed!! I am disgusted with this place, the staff, their approach and how they respond to patients in dire need of mental health support!!! The “group “ sessions are made in a PUBLIC OPEN SPACE WITH the TVS blasting behind them in an area near the nurse station with staff talking and laughing and everyone hearing their personal and medical information!! It’s unfortunate that this is the only option for mental health care!

I went to drop off a family friend today and most staff seem friendly but the receptionist had such a nasty attitude and she seemed rude as hell, I normally don't write reviews or care about anything. But, my friend means a lot to me and my family and I hope putting them there will help them. But owner or manager whatever better check that receptionist and tell her if she wants to have an attitude to fix it or work somewhere else instead of a place where they are supposed to be kind and care for patients going through mental issues. I will probably update this review once my friend is out to make sure everything went well. I hope we didn't make a mistake.

I got Baker Acted back in January of 2021. I was sent to the female ward. It was the most traumatic experience of my whole life. I had nightly panic attacks after being held for just one week. It’s been over a year and I still suffer from horrendous nightmares and anxiety from this place. I’ve been diagnosed with PTSD from this. It’s basically jail. This place does not help mental health AT ALL. The only way I made it out was pretending that I was feeling okay. They told me I would only be there for 72 hours but they held me for about 8 days because they just didn’t feel like doing the paperwork for me. I wish I could scream and yell at everyone who did this to me. I AM DAMAGED BECAUSE OF THIS PLACE. I hope everyone in charge of this place gets sued. How do you all feel? Are you happy? Are you glad that I cry almost every night a year and a half later from being put in your “care.” I deserve a good life. But you ruined that. I’m only 19 years old. I hope you’re happy.

After numerous Baker Acts Judge Porter ordered I not be treated at Park Royal Hospital due to substandard care. After this court order and release I was Baker Acted again and swiftly locked up at Park Royal Hospital for about three weeks. Again, I received substandard care and witnessed the substandard and abusive care of other participants. No medications were prescribed during this period or administered. Medically necessasry Levothyroxine for Graves disease finally received the last three days due to the intervention of staff. As I was leaving I was coerced into signing a financial responsibility statement without benefit of insurance.

Horrible place to be in and I don't wish it on my worst enemy. They don't pass along messages that are received by your loved ones, they only have one phone working with 32 patients, very unclean and they don't sanitize anything, they lose belongings, they lie as no one gets out of there in 72 hour. They just want to push drugs on you and the group classes are a joke. They just want to mess with your head to keep you longer. You can barely sleep because they check in on your every 15 minutes and then diagnose you with insomnia when asked if you can sleep. Worst place to be in and hope people chose wisely before going there.

I was a patient there for alcohol detox referred by the VA. Had to do this prior to a treatment program. I was locked in a ward with psychiatric patients. I was the only one there for alcohol to my knowledge. Basically, I stayed in a terrible room, ate terrible food, and steered clear of some very sick people. I knew detox was a couple of days. Even though I had not drank in over two months, the staff there believed I should stay extensively. I had to request to leave as was my right. For three nights I was there, I was billed over $8,000. Believe me, the ONE thing they are good at is billing you. I've had to go to the VA to get them off my back. DO NOT GO HERE FOR ALCOHOL DETOX.

I was in the facility for 12 days. Most of them were complete misery. I will tell you right now the med nurse that I had most often treated me like a prisoner. She was foul and mean they were also a couple others the treated you like an animal the aids if that’s who I had to deal with it would’ve been fine I do not like the idea we of them telling me I will not get out if I don’t eat everything on my plate. Well excuse me most of what they serve for me was inedible. I do not eat hot, hard, boiled eggs, which they were every time I do not eat most fish, and the rest of the food was on a scale of one through five of a 1. I am now moving onto aftercare. I’m going to give them one more chance to see me since I’ve been home. Hopefully the treatment will have been better because I’m not a patient sadly as much as I’d like to I would not refer anyone to this hospital until they get a change of staff I did not need to feel depressed and then get treated like a second class citizen by the nurses.

My experience is through your reviews. I notice a pattern here, most of the bad reviews are from patients who were baker acted and from loved ones who weren’t allowed to see their loved ones. And there are some good reviews from patients who say they were helped tremendously by your clinic. But what worries me is the response from your facility to these reviews. On the horrible reviews you have zero response? On the good reviews you thank the reviewers for their review! That says a lot.

They will keep you as long as possible. 3,000$ a day. You see a doctor for 3 minutes. We arent patients, but customers.. its so sad. If they really helped or cared people wouldnt keep revolving around there. The med line looked like a feeding trough. They prey on poor people and take advantage of mentally ill. This place can have zero stars and stay gainfully employeed because who is going to believe a "crazy" broke person. Unless you have 8,000 for the baker act lawyer youre staying a week no matter what. "72 hours" is just to observe you then the "treatment" starts... dont intentionally go here please. They also let an overweight patient (customer) sit in her wheel chair and not shower for 4 days while i was there. No one bathed her ever. Let her sit and rot. "Baker act" is getting taken full advantage of over here. Wish i could help these girls, but my money and power isn't as long as park royals.. 600,000$ a month they collect is powerful.

I was taking there against my will and for my belief system as well! This worst place to take treat anyone. I work at VA Clinic and treatment of their patients deplorable. Treat you like you are in actually in prison! Doctor never talk to you only when it’s convenient. Some of the nurse enjoy putting people in isolation room just because you trying to help someone. It’s like modern asylum back in the 20s without torture devices. I told I will get my Va involve and the made sure I keep silent!

As a patient that broke free from the jail cell. The techs literally had a verbal argument on the floor, then took it in the snack room and screamed at eachother (over personal business). The techs were too busy to listen to our needs on their iPads to keep track of us at all times. Or they were too busy on their phones to even realize what is going on. They talked to us like we were kids. If you have good insurance they keep you there as long as possible. I was diagnosed as bi polar within talking with the physc Dr for 5 mins. Changed all my meds without weaning me off my old meds. Social worker knew I needed help with rent and food and never did anything about it. They also set me up with a physc appt (which was one good thing) and staff gave me a week of my meds until I saw new physc Dr. Well had my appt and it was just an interview no physc Dr. I had to go to urgent care and get my meds prescribed to me so I wouldn't go off them. The beds are like prison beds with a plastic pillow. Worst nightmare that will not give people that have mental illness the proper help that is necessary

Even if you call and make an appointment and voluntarily bring yourself in there for an assessment they will try to keep you there. I was later told that after I consent to an assessment that “it’s no longer my choice in which program they place me”. Which was not what was communicated over the phone. The nurses are lying and manipulative. Saying different things to me than to my mom. You’re lucky if you get any phone service in the building. Its simply a money ploy. Staying as an “inpatient for about 3 days” would do nothing for the average person but make them more sad.

Know of several people who have been sent here against their own will. The experiences they bring home to tell are shocking. Patients are mistreated, ignored, and only there for the doctors paycheck. They dont provide any help after discharge, and this is how they get people to be forced to come back. They drain you of your insurance money and sanity and kick you to the ditch. This place should be sued and shut down for mistreatment of many young adults and teens in need of mental and physical health with no where else to turn.

I was there in 2019 the transport guy was touching himself on the way to park royal from Lehigh & put his body so close to my back I could feel his private touching me .. told multiple staff there no one did anything. They held me for 7 days .. away from my child I was unable to see him as well, this place doesn’t care about anyone who comes in there. I was worse leaving there than I was before I came in

This place is great for detoxing. The nurses who give meds are very caring & want you to be as comfortable as possible. But the psychiatric dr is awful he will only see you for 30 seconds and put you on whatever meds, and whatever he says goes. He will not listen to you. They dont even take the time to give you a diagnosis. Not really any therapy involved, most of the groups (when they actually have them) aren't really helpful to recovery or mental health. You mainly just watch movies & play card games all day.

The staff I've dealt with at Park Royal Outpatient Services have been excellent. Justine, Brie, Sam, Dottie and Lauren are professional, courteous and caring. If you are in need of Hope and some Mental Health support; commit to be engaged, listen and learn, they are are great team that can provide you with the tools you'll need for a better future.

I am a health care professional…..DO NOT admit your loved ones here. Voluntarily or involuntarily!!! The entire staff is awful. Front reception to therapist, nurses, techs, doctors…Your loved ones will not be assessed nor medicated for up to 24 hours. They are lied to, rights taken away, personal items (even the ones they approve) are taken away, they are ignored.. this place is asylum like. Do not trust them. Once you start questioning they attempt to manipulate you into trusting them. When that doesn’t work, they threaten with 72 hour holds. DO NOT use this facility.. Department of Health and News media needs to investigate!!! I am a health care professional. Not a patient.

I brought my Mother to Park Royal yesterday morning. The caring intake Gentleman was very warm and compassionate. Sorry sure wish I remembered your name. You made me feel very comfortable to leave my sick Mom in their hands for care she needs. I spoke to my Mom later in the evening and she sounded very good even got a laugh out of her. Thank you Park Royal...... I truly have confidence my Mom will get the treatment and care she needs.

Great place. All aspects of my stay were good. They were very attentive and responsive to my needs. My only issue were the 1000 piece puzzles. I intend to purchase some 350 piece puzzles and donate them.

Insurance scam all the way through. The staff does nothing to help the patients with any of their concerns. When the place gets rowdy they do nothing to calm the issue. They take days to move dangerous patients to a different unit even when they prove to be a safety concern to everyone else. I have had patients come into my room and the staff do nothing about it for DAYS. I’ve witnessed fights break out and have nothing be done about it. I’ve witnessed medical emergencies and the staff do nothing about it or drag their feet before helping a patient. Trying to get released is a while other story. They twist patients stories to keep them there for as long as possible even when we are stable enough to leave. Don’t make the mistake of admitting yourself here or allowing yourself to be brought here.

The doctors never call you and you don't know how your family member is. If you are unhappy, notify The Joint Commission online at www. jointcommission. They provide accreditation for healthcare facilities. If enough people complain they will get audited and have there accreditation taken away and they won't be able to charge Medicare or Medicaid. Also, contact CMS which is the agency over Medicare and Medicaid. I have made a complaint to both as well as petition the courts and hired a lawyer.

I was here for a good two months for treatment and it did help. The therapists that ran the groups were amazing. The only thing I didn’t like is that they put the newbies together with the semi old ones there. That would trigger me and a lot of the other people in the groups. If you are considering treatment here please be careful.

Absolutely a horrific experience. All drs and nurses were awful; they did not try to help me at all. I was sent there under the Baker Act due to a misunderstanding with a dr, and ended up being kept against my will for 8 days. They actually re- Baker Acted me, but told me it was none of my business as to why. It would not be exaggerating to say 98% of the staff was verbally abusive. I would NOT recommend this place, it was basically a jail.

I went for a tour of Park Royal today and was thoroughly impressed. I especially liked the approach they take to healing and using drugs only as needed not as the first option. I also not know more about ECT for depression, and how it's 90% effective with little to no side effects, which is very different to using pharmaceutical drugs that all have side effects and many irreversible. Grateful to have them in Lee County. Thanks for helping our community.

I stayed here recently for mental health and detox. I loved it! The staff were great and it was a bright, colorful, positive atmosphere. The foods not that great but I'm not picky..lol. They had groups, AA, and NA throughout the day. I highly recommend it.

I had a horrible experience and I left there in worse condition than I went. The staff would play tricks on me to make me appear crazier then report to my doctor so they could find reasons to keep me in there longer. After getting off the phone with my mother speaking about how I didn’t believe that this place was aiding in my wellness, the nurse called me over and stated I was being transferred to a new unit because I was not being “social” enough. They transferred me to the DRUG REHAD UNIT, mind you I was not struggling with drugs at all! I was petrified in this unit and was put in unbelievable situations. I was put in a room with a lady withdrawing from fentanyl and who believed I was in a gang against her, her attitude towards me quickly changed especially when her and the other patients realized I was not an addict because I was “too pretty and had all my teeth”. That night my roommate was sharpening a spork in the shower which when I reported it to the staff, all they did was take it away from her and no further disciplinary actions were taken. I was too scared to sleep. A man from prison was transferred into my unit and insisted I perform sexual favors on him to ensure my safety in the unit. This man had a heavy influence on patients and staff in the unit to the point where when a new young female patient was admitted, he asked the nurse to provide him with information on her. This nurse then printed out her form, exited the nurse unit with her personal information and showed this paper to the man! That is a HIPPA violation! I could see in his face that he did it out of fear. The hospital paid for my stay for 5 days and they did there absolute best to keep me there the full 5, mind you I was already baker acted in the hospital for 8 days before going to this facility and I went into Park Royal VOLUNTARILY since my baker act was lifted in the hospital. They kept trying to baker act me despite me showing no signs of depression or suicidal thoughts, nor would they know how if I had any because the doctors only spoke to me for 5 short minutes a day and at times I didn’t even speak to a doctor but someone with lesser qualifications. It was a different person almost each time who would ask me the same shallow questions. They kept threatening me with baker act if I used my right to leave the hospital. When I told a lady who was doing my examination that I was not able to afford staying in the hospital for more than what the hospital told me she said that she doesn’t think they send missed payments to the credit bureau so I’ll be fine. She then stated to me that my medication dosage would be increased more than I was comfortable and I had no say in the matter. I took 5 mg of my drug during the day and 5 mg at night, which I stated was a comfortable dosage for me and I was happy with it. She wanted to change my dosage to 10 mg during the day and the effects of my drug were strong enough at 5, I was worried about doing 10 all at once. Many more things happened to me that were questionable while in park Royal but it’s simply too much to type. Moral of this story is AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. They only care about money and not well being. However shout out to the one staff member who gave me a bracelet at the end and the activity lady who would play Christian music for me during activity time. They were the only sane people in there.

I have been struggling with depression and anxiety and bpd for over 10 years. I have been to programs and hospitals over those years. In October I spent 3 weeks inpatient and during those I did ect and that was the catalyst of my recovery. After I was discharged I went into outpatient php and I have been in it for two months. I have learned so many skills and with the ect helping me calm myself I have been thriving. I never believed that I would be able to live outside of a hospital but after park royal I have been living on my own and been out of the hospital for over two months. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and finally being able to believe I will truly recover. Honestly Park royal saved my life and the outpatient is so helpful I feel like I belong there and feel safe to talk about my struggles. I have been able to use my skills I learned there during crisis and I am able to successfully navigate through my issues. I am so grateful. I would not be were I am today if it weren’t for them

Tried to visit someone, told I couldn't because I wasn't here 10 minutes prior. How can you claim to care about mental health if you prevent a patient from seeing a loved one? People who end up here come out worse off, not better.

I actually had a good experience at Park Royal. They got me out of crisis and back on track where I could return to my family and work in a better place. The staff were nice and the food was actually decent. The group therapy sessions were helpful. They got me lined up with a new psychiatrist and therapy. I felt like they were concerned about my wellbeing.

I was here voluntarily in march of last year. I had a pretty good experience here. Food wasn’t terrible, and most of the staff were very kind. I was very depressed when I was there though because my (now ex) boyfriend left me. I especially hope the staff member Davon sees this because she was incredibly kind to me while I was there! I know there’s a lot of horrible reviews about this place but my experience wasn’t all that bad…there’s some pretty horrible facilities in Florida and I’ve been at many! The only things I will say I didn’t like about this facility was that I was stuck waiting in a chair for like 3 hours until like 3AM while I waited to be admitted and I was placed on the substance abuse unit the entire time I was there and I’m not an addict to drugs or alcohol but the unit was pretty calm everyone was super nice I’m still in touch with a patient I met there who was super comforting to me

Thank you very much Park Royal staff for helping me get better mentally & emotionally! What a huge blessing that you all are. God bless you for your treatment as human beings. You are all heroes in my heart! The ECT treatment has been life changing so far. Thank you everyone for putting up with us through the inpatient program too. Was very helpful for my mental/emotional health.

Horrible experience. My daughter stayed there for more than a week because she forgot to take her medicine and became unstable. She got disharged with her hair all mattled and without shoes barefooted and high on drugs. They put her on high dose of opiods and she never been on any before She came home worse than she first came to ER. She started having heart palpitations and I had to take her to ER again to Sarasota. Staff not friendly and not treating people with dignity. Very dissapoing.

Park Royal made a split second judgement on my psych status based on a bakeract that happened the month before as opposed to my complete mental health history. If they had done so they would've realized that I had a history of diagnosed anxiety and autism and Ive been in therapy for years. Like the first bakeract center, they assumed and treated me for bpd. Leading to increasingly worse symptoms and undoing years of progress. I have since been seen by a psychiatrist who actually considered my entire psych history. He agreed that I do not have bpd or psychosis and did not recommend any medication. Their treatment protocal lead to increased panic attacks, anxiety attacks, and crippled me psychologically. It took months for me to get off the medications and return to normal

If you or someone you love are considering being admitted to this hospital I URGE YOU TO THINK AGAIN. I can’t even begin to describe the ABUSE AND TORMENT that i was forced to endure from this hospitals staff. It’s taken me weeks to even find the courage to try to put into words the absolute horror that i just experienced. The staff from this hospital not only should NEVER be allowed near a patient again but they deserve to be imprisoned. This is the most crooked and corrupt hospital. In unit 2A, To the techs JADE, KA’DASHA, STACEY, CORDELIA AND AMY you are the most vile and heinous human beings I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting. The abuse you put these patients through while we were already at our absolute lowest point. Yelling in our face, cursing at us, making fun of us, laughing at us, not taking a single concern seriously. They locked the door to our rooms from 8am-4pm refusing to let us use the toilet (there is not public toilet, only the toilet in our room) When we asked to go to the bathroom, requests were denied because they were “too busy” sitting on their phone. I ended up getting a UTI because i had to hold my urine for excessive periods of time. No one wanted to drink anything because everyone was too afraid of needing to use the toilet. People were vomiting in the trash cans, and elderly came close to having emergencies on the floor. The whole place was unclean. They give you a 1oz bottle of baby soap (for everything, including hair) Y’all forced me to stay in dirty underwear and clothes for days while my clean clothes sat behind the counter because you were too lazy to simply hand them to me and each time i asked you laughed and walked away while saying “ get someone else to do it” You mocked a blind lady and a deaf lady and laughed while they struggled. Cursed at a diabetic man in front of everyone in the cafeteria simply because he asked for a Diet Coke since he couldn’t have dessert. After a man fell and hit his head, bleeding out on the floor you all stood around him yelling at everyone else instead of calling an ambulance immediately. Incompetence at its finest. Food Allergies were never taken seriously. On multiple occasions i watched people be served something they were deathly allergic to, all while knowing about the allergies, and since we weren’t able to eat the allergen we simply were not able to eat, myself included experienced this. And all they said was “too bad” (This was a daily occurrence). If a loved one calls you, they will not inform you or pass along a message The “psychiatrist” which i saw for 5 minutes, decided to diagnose me with multiple different diagnoses but never tell me about them and i have to find out for myself when i got out. Never spoke of them or told me a single thing, shoved meds down my throat but i wasn’t even aware what they were “treating”. In the state of Florida, a baker act is a 72 hour hold, but they were holding people for WEEKS. Refusing to even let you know why you were being held or to inform you when you will be released. I was only released after threatening that i will sue and have cops and lawyers in my family get involved. A staff member pulled me aside and informed me they were only releasing me due to the threats and my family contacting them. They didn’t want to get sued. They also are refusing to give me my personal records and hang up on me every time i call for them. I have been officially diagnosed with CPTSD upon being released from this hospital due to the trauma i just endured. I left here 10x worse than when i arrived You have people that just attempted to take their life, and this is how you’re treating them. There is a special place in hell for y’all.

I write this as an addicted person. I’ve been through this many times. I’m also someone who has extensive hospital experience, graduated college as a pre med major and was trained and worked as a Pharm tech. So I have extensive pharmaceutical knowledge. No one wants to go to detox and therapy. And to admit one has a problem is very difficult. And then to be going trough withdrawal is very stressful. It took 4.5 hours to go through the Intake and arrive to the unit. I have no idea why it took so long. My guess is shortage of staff or no beds available on the unit which being a holiday weekend it’s hard to believe. There is no disrespect to the staff at intake. They were great. But to sit for hours in distress in withdrawal and to be told that I would receive medication upon arrival to the unit was too much. A wrist device was planted on the wrist with an explanation that it was to track employees. Be real. It was there to track patients and their safety. Just be honest about what’s going on with your care. I think the wrist device was useless if staff was on top of seeing for your safety. I expected to be medicated for my withdrawal including nausea and DTs. I did not receive any benzodiazepines or anti nausea meds until the next day. Your so called medicine protocol needs to be reevaluated to include meds to alleviate withdrawal as soon as possible If I went to the emergency room at a hospital I would have seen a Dr an IV would have been started and the appropriate meds injected IV. It would have taken less than an hour rather than waiting a day. I believe a physician should be available for evaluation upon arrival. I also believe that a patient should see a Dr every day rather than sporadically. Needs change and when they do you should express what you need. I was very disappointed in the group therapy process. The leaders were condescending impersonal and often distracted by those not participating. When it’s group time there should be no other focus except on group. No card playing no coloring no cross talk. It’s down right distracting. I know some patients have varying degrees of mental instability. Some paranoid some delusional and some angry and aggressive. Instead of trying to minimize the escalation I’ve seen group leaders engage in the aggression. It’s unprofessional and not conducive towards a good group. Groups in general are very preachy. It’s more of a lecture that people don’t want to hear. Groups should be more talk oriented. Leaders should encourage what you think how you feel your experiences rather than theirs. There is a time for leaders to provide information and tools to help promote wellness. Guest speakers from various support groups are preachy focused on giving you their war stories. Often profanity of varying degrees are expressed which represents poorly on the group they represent. It’s all good to touch on their experiences. It’s not ok to take up the whole time doing so. Policies and procedures are inconsistently enforced. It’s ok one to do something but not the next. It’s ok on one shift but not the others. Inconsistency drives people crazy. There is a need for structure but no need to nit pick rules. I think those that evaluate patients need more training as to what unit the patient goes to. There are those that have addiction problems. But then there are those that have severe mental issues many times patients were transferred to another more intensive psychiatric unit. A major concern was the environmental conditions. The temperature of the unit was way too cold. This lead to many disagreement as to not allowing patients to keep warm. I was disappointed with the social service referrals. Really they were nonexistent. Minutes before leaving the unit I found out that my landlord changed the locks on my rental. Thus making me homeless. All that was provide was a referral to a shelter and a booklet of service numbers. Ownership proposes that they are the best mental health facility. I challenge ownership to do their best to be so. Don’t make it appear that you are cash grabbing

Clean & safe facility , I was hospitalized here for 2 weeks for depression. Most of the staff was great besides a few who abused their own power. Can’t complain it’s a mental hospital definitely had a good time here. This place saved my life they got me with a great doctor for when I went home. Place is just over crowded and most of the patients we’re baker acted that’s why they give so much bad ratings. I would definitely consider visiting this hospital for a third time
