I
arrived
at
the
airport
about
1
hour
before
the
scheduled
pick-up
time.
After
calling
the
rental
company,
the
shuttle
bus
arrived
after
a
very
short
time.
Until
then,
very
friendly
service.
Unfortunately,
this
was
not
the
case
at
the
rental
station:
I
had
to
wait
here
for
about
15
minutes,
and
there
was
a
reason
for
this.
There
were
abstruse
explanations
about
the
deposit
regarding
the
motorway
tolls.
All
this
in
order
to
sell
their
own
insurance.
Mind
you,
I
already
had
a
complete
comprehensive
insurance
through
the
Enjoy
Travel
agency,
which
was
refunded
after
advance
payment.
But
now
there
was
talk
of
a
share
of
EURO
100,-
for
possible
penalties
for
unauthorised
use
of
the
motorway,
which
would
remain
blocked
on
the
credit
card
for
up
to
10
days
after
return.
Unfortunately,
this
was
not
described
in
detail
in
the
deposit
conditions
and
a
lengthy
discussion
ensued.
In
the
end,
this
amount
was
already
included
in
the
total
deposit
and
therefore
not
an
issue
for
me.
But
not
so
for
the
lady
at
the
counter
of
the
rental
company
.
Because
this
was
the
entry
point
to
sell
their
own
insurance.
They
also
threatened
with
towing
costs
of
usually
EURO
300,-
which
would
not
be
reimbursed
by
Enjoy
Travel
in
case
of
damage.
By
the
way,
I
had
to
enter
all
the
data
into
the
employee's
smartphone.
This
took
time,
was
not
in
line
with
Covid19
measures
and
was
extremely
questionable
in
terms
of
data
protection.
Furthermore,
my
identity
card
and
driving
licence
were
photographed
without
being
asked,
as
the
smartphone
app
of
the
rental
company
apparently
did
not
offer
the
possibility
to
enter
the
data
manually.
All
in
all,
this
was
absolutely
unprofessional,
amateurish
and
negligent.
This
was
followed
by
a
meticulous
inspection
of
the
vehicle
with
a
record
of
the
smallest
scratches
(23).
It
was
advised
to
have
another
look
and
to
take
photos
in
order
to
prove
upon
return
that
any
damage
that
had
not
been
recorded
had
already
existed
on
the
vehicle!
The
car
was
freshly
washed
but
had
an
intrusive
smell
that
gave
me
a
headache.
One
wonders
what
must
have
happened
in
the
car
or
what
kind
of
stench
must
have
been
created
there
(by
what)
if
one
resorts
to
such
penetrating
scents.
Especially
as
the
car
was
relatively
new
(18000
km).
Unfortunately,
the
windscreen
was
dirty
and
greasy
from
the
inside,
which
was
very
annoying
when
the
windscreen
fogged
up
in
the
rain
and
at
night.
At
least
the
wiper
reservoir
was
not
empty.
In
the
end,
it
took
about
75
minutes
to
pick
up
the
car
after
calling
the
airport!
Thankfully,
the
return
was
relatively
quick
and,
contrary
to
my
fears,
no
damage
that
I
had
overlooked
on
handover
was
searched
for
or
found.
