This hotel is supposed to be rated as a 4 star hotel, but it is a solid 2 star hotel. Here is why: First you have to find the parking lot, which is at the back of the hotel but it has the name of a different hotel on it. Once you park, you step out of the car onto a floor which seems to be designed to break your ankles and definitely break any high heels. As you enter the hotel, you are confronted by the overpowering smell of mold, so hold your breath. The furniture in the lobby is old and falling apart. You get to the elevator and go to your room, it makes a sound that makes it feel unsafe. You get to your room, the door handle feels so loose that you're afraid to turn it because you may break it. Now it is time to decipher the lock. An old fashioned flat metal key which you hope opens your room but it takes you a couple of minutes to figure out. Now you are safe in your room. But are you? There is no safe in the room and with such an unsafe door, you can't feel totally secure, plus the hotel doesn't take responsibility for items stolen from your room. The furniture is old, dirty, and humid. The pillow cases are yellowed by time and sweat. Shall we hang out clothes? Sure, if you want it to smell of mildew. By this point you feel filthy just by walking through the hotel and your room. Time for a bath. But wait, look at the color of the water, it is brown and it smells bad. Now you decide to take a shower instead, by the time you finish, you are exhausted from a day of traveling and having to deal with the disappointment that is this hotel. Lets just go upstairs for dinner, at the elevator there was a sign which said the restaurant is open for dinner every day from 19:30. You get to the restaurant at 19:45 and it is closed. You go down to reception and ask at what time it will open, they inform you that it never opens for dinner and hasn't done so since before COVID. "But why do you advertise it then?" You ask, "Just ignore it, it's been on the elevator since I can remember, but the restaurant never opens for anything other than breakfast." You have had enough, you ask for a refund, no. They aren't authorized to refund you a penny if you booked in any other way than through them directly. A perfectly good trip ruined by a terrible hotel.

The only good thing about this hotel is its friendly staff and cleanliness. The hotel has been out of order for years. Only one elevator works and it is very slow. My friend was stuck in the elevator for a quarter. The phone in the room was broken. The indoor heating system did not work. Not even a glass of drinking water can be found in the hotel lobby area. Hotel breakfast is very limited. Coffee machines are very old. The staff for breakfast is too small and no care is taken. I can boldly say that this hotel is 2 stars. The hotel needs a major overhaul. The only reason this hotel has customers is that it is in a very good location.

If this is hotel of 4 stars then I am elephant. Service 0 quality. Check in from 2pm... lie we arrive at 2.30pm rooms not ready. We got our room at 4.30pm. Only bed was changed the rest was dirty and smelly. On the question if this is clean reception just look at us and very seriously said "YES". Even after pictures showed to them they give us a rag to clean by ourselves. It is said is on the beach hotel. Lie 10 min walk. I am sorry but for money we pay this is a joke.

This hotel is never a 4* hotel, no seif in the room, the cleaning is very bad, AC is looking like falling down, rusty, more and more... the piscine is very cold, the breakfast is the same every day and very poor, same bad scrambled eggs and old croissants.... very very disappointed, this is 2* hotel maximum 👎👎👎 I don't recommend nobody to pay for this 4* hotel and to recive a 2* hotel with bad service. You can see some attached photos here 👎👎👎👎

This hotel is definitely pass it's prime. It's really old, it has an odd smell in both the lobby and in the rooms. The rooms are clean but they're really old and you can see by the appliances that they could use some refurbishment (eg. AC unit mentioned on the picture). The staff is very kind and helpful and the location is absolutely fantastic even if you don't have the ocean view from you window.

Hopefully, Carcavelos Beach Hotel has a new owner that will start renovations without closing or tear-down. Spectacular view and location, new bedding and linens, but tired (70's) decor, and failing mechanical. Elevators and AC need servicing/replacement. I did not use my AC. The door to my balcony was very hard to close, but nice to have it open with good weather. No room safe. I had a small fridge, but not all rooms do, so ask. Fantastic view from 8th floor dining room, with good, consistent breakfast buffet. Plenty of mediocre coffee. Not open for dinner, so ask. It's a good value, but not a 3* hotel.

First review ever written. Not as advertised what so ever. Horrible location. Developing area with a run down property. Rooms are cold, uncomfortable, dirty, cramped, you get the point. Bed and pillow rock hard. Empty environment. Not worth it. Don’t come.

One night is enough. We stayed en route to somewhere else and glad we don't have to stay longer. They have so much potential - great position, great views etc. but it clearly hasn't been updated in about 30 years. The whole place is in need of a revamp. It's so tired looking and shabby. The breakfast is terrible. Dining room is dirty. Common areas are falling apart at the seams. That said our welcome at the reception could not have been better (the 2 stars are for him) - hats off to the nice gentleman who is able to hold it all together working somewhere so shoddy.

Very nice location near the beach. And the tourist spots like Cascais and Lisboa Some elements are missing in their rooms. Like safety deposit boxes and water boiler (you have to borrow it) They dont refill your water everyday. A so so breakfast.

Stayed here on business and it was a mistake. No idea where the third and forth stars came from. My room was basic, loud and uncomfortable with loud bangs starting as early as 0430. Only thing this hotel has going for it is an okay view of the sea from the restaurant. It has no other redeeming quality, what could be a prime location for a nice hotel has this antiquated eyesore.

Hotel Preis Leistung 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

We slept there for two nights while on vacantion. The room was clean, TV, nice bathroon. The only negative thing was the wind blowing under the door, the outside of the building needs a renovation. In the morning u eat breakfast at the 8th floor whitch was good also. Overall i recommend it.

Restaurant attendants like Tiago and Camila really made a difference for the hotel. Food was just passable and very repetitive after a couple of days. Not recomended for long stays.

The place is near the beach. They have a beautiful and clean rooms. The staff are very friendly. They have a breakfast amazing in the top of the building and you can see a fabulous view. I really recommend for those who want to relax .

The hotel is classed as 4 star and not even a bottle of water is kept in the room. No tea, no coffee. AC has to be manually switched on since the remote doesn’t work and it is noisy. The list goes on. I would not recommend this hotel, the price doesn’t suite the service at all. Not a happy thirsty person.

Nice pool, view and clean rooms. That are all positives of that hotel. It should have max 2 stars and not 4. Don't go there if you need something more than place to sleep. Rooms are old and painted with brown ugly paint to cover age of equipment and corridors. Fridges are only from see side rooms. Rooms from the back have view on the construction area. The same rooms can differ with price around 45 EUR per night (as I compare with my neighbour - he paid 85 EUR via mail reservation - I over 130 EUR via booking). During the strong wind you can hear everything and everyone because there are holes in the windows. Hard to get sleep with that conditions. But like I wrote on the begging room cleaned every day with good level of service. Breakfast are poor and owfull. Scrambled eggs from powder, pancakes probably also from fake eggs, old, hard bread and something which was a meatloaf with brown paint on top and was described as bacon xD Rest of the hotel? Looks like a ahaddoned old hospital. There is a bar on ground floor and 4th floor but closed 24/7. When I was talking loud to my neighbor that I'm planning use restaurant offer because there is poster in the elevator with nice pictures then I noticed after 1 hour that every posters magically disappeared and crew member said that there was no restaurant at all :D Change of the name of this hotel from Praia Mar to Carcavelos will not cover all the negative elements of beeing a guest of this facility. It looks like it will be shortly closed or need new manager and big renovation. Again - don't go there for anything more than place to sleep. Any other hotel will be much more better than this one.

This is the worst hotel I have ever been in. It is not even a 2 star. Please be aware of real condition. The rooms facing the back are terrible, the breakfast is poor and limited. The rooms are filled with mold and they smell. My room was 320. Try to avoid this hotel!!!

Amazing location. 3 minute walk to the beach. Hotel has a continental breakfast from 7:30 -10:00 am. Rooms have A/C, T.V. with multiple channels and a small fridge. Would definitely recommend.

Very tired and dilapidated hotel. I would rather have stayed in 'Fawlty Towers'. Move rooms twice on the first night due to faults with first two rooms, then was moved again due to now power on the 9th floor from the rain. Broken front lobby doors, rusting metal work, antique lifts and I felt sorry for the staff having to work their. Would not recommend to anyone.

We stayed there in August 2023 for 5 nights. Rooms smelt like damp and had a horrid smell. Rooms very dated with old carpets etc...Room also very small. Didn't feel really clean. In the elevator notices talk about lunch and dinner being served on the 8th floor...neither of which are available!!! Gymnasium was out of bounds and leaking out the door.... initially I almost fell in the large puddle of water. Thereafter a massive duvet was placed down for everyone to walk over in the passage instead of actually fixing the problem!!! Variety served at the pool bar is pathetic and very limited!! No bar fridge in the rooms No kettle and tea and coffee either No idea how it can be classified a 4 star hotel. This needs to be relooked. Location good and breakfast Variety... that's about it. Would not recommend to a friend.

Old and shabby. But if you just want to sleep between beeing on the beach or at the pool you can survive this place.

Wish I could give them a ZERO star just for their customer service and front desk demeanor!!! Worst hotel ever!!! Including any remote location in China, etc. this is OLD, decrepit, dirty, and no double bed… not even single beds - there are 2 cot beds that are smaller than a child camp bed!!! Even the room door only uses 1 hard/physical key!!! And Management says they never promise or confirm anything that is not done directly with them!!! So forget any personal or business travel agent etc!!! This hotel honors NOTHING!! 🤬
