what a cute and well decorated cafe/restaurant! I came here with a friend on a cold day in December. Bit pity that we can’t sit inside but the roof and outdoor seating is just pretty and cozy to spend time! they have warm blankets to enjoy the lunch outside! I would definitely like to come back in the summer. They have example of the food in the counter and it just looked lovely with all the color! I don’t remember what I ordered but I really enjoyed it!

What a tasty food! Finally something in Portugal without meat. On top that food taste incredibly good and looks fantastic. The restaurant looks very special and is designed lovely. Must seen when you like meatless food and love fresh drinks. The Cappuccino is by the way a absolutely recommendation.

I really enjoyed having meal and spending time at house of wonders. A cozy place with a verity of new foods which come with a live menu. The owner and all staff are kind with positive vibe. Design and atmosphere is very attractive. Foods are very delicious and healthy juices are fantastic.

Very friendly people however way to expensive for what is offered. It gets even worse because the prices are not shown when ordering so in the end there is a very unpleasant and unexpected surprise...

RIP-OFF - They wanted 12€ for a "healthy breakfast" which consisted of 2 eggs, a salad and pieces of pita bread.. PASS. Ordered their average coffee and sat on the terrace instead. - Nice terrace though...

Amazing vegetarian place! I really liked the concept that you enter the restaurant and you can look at the dishes and choose what you want after having seen the composition of lovely colours and flavours. The roof top is incredibly sweet, cozy and full of plants. We ordered the beetroot lasagna and the vegetarian sushi, both amazing. We highly recommend the beetroot lasagna, it was something impossible to describe but the taste was spectacular! We also had freshly made juice with mango and lime, it was perfect.

Staff is very familiar with vegan options. The food was very tasty and filling. Loved all the veggies that you could order with it. The fresh juices were nice too, the yellow one tastes very sweet. I liked it more than the orange one since that had a bit too much ginger in it for my taste. Wish I could have tried the vegan coconut cake. For some the visual menu could give you ordering anxiety if you are bad at choosing from multiple good options "under pressure".

Ugh ~ so delicious!! We got fresh juice and then ordered two meals - all of which we were pleased with. We sat on the second floor rooftop area and were enamored; the plants, the vibe, the location. The visual menu was a bit confusing so just ask for clarification. The presentation and flavor was top-notch, would return!

I am not a vegetarian. But I love vegetarian cuisine because it seems healthy to me. We were very hungry and the cafe seemed very wonderful to us. I loved the presentation of all dishes on the ground floor. The portions are unusually large and tasty. The smoothies are delicious. But! I was unlucky to see the process of making smoothies and food. The owners of a delicious cafe !!! Please...make repairs to the kitchen, toilets, dress the cooks in clean aprons and gloves.

Wow! What a great dish!! Sort of a lentil soup, grilled veggies and a burger of beans. I am a meat lover, but what nice veggie dishes they have! Full of flavours and really nourishing

It's a joy to see such love delivered in a dining experience! The beautiful, fresh and delicious meals are exceptional, and the options are usefully displayed and explained before ordering. I liked the simplicity of all the lunchtime dishes costing €11.75. The restaurant and outdoor spaces are gorgeous too, with plants, art and character in abundance. I look forward to returning many times in the future!

Okay folks. In Cascais? Vegan or not…don’t miss this spot. We were craving fresh food and some healthy bites! We stumbled upon this and it may have been some of my favorite food in all of Portugal. This was just as good as some Vegan spots in the US! Smoothies: Try THEM! Fresh and tasty. Veggie Pizza: Delectable crust with fresh veggies. Yogurt Bowl: The passion fruit, fresh granola, and mix of textures was so refreshing. We got 4 of the small plates and just shared them! Would go back again in a heartbeat.

Lovely and laid back place with a nice rooftop and an amazing menu. You can see all the dishes before ordering them which helps with choosing one. The food we ordered was beautifully prepared and an explosion of various tasty and interesting flavours.

If you are on the cusp of becoming vegetarian, perhaps the colours, presentation - along with the setting of each of these spaces (several choices of floor to share, both inside and outside depending on your fancy) - may set you on the path! I've known Ana for many years and delighted to meet her each time. We have seen her original space grow outwards and upwards as the years have elapsed. She provides a description of the many choices that can help you decide what tickles your fancy for that particular moment. The veggies, and ingredients (spices) are always fresh and pungent with flavour. The set-up seems quite unique in that you begin on the main floor then order away, then choose your spot inside, or outside on the large terrace facing an old church, away from the bustle of Cascais. Location, location! You can even climb two flights of stairs and opt for the rooftop area (smaller and can be windy much of the summer). If you are not in the mood for lunch you can go for the freshest of juice combinations (4). Example: ABC: apple, beet, carrot etc, Green choice etc. Teatime will offer you several choices of desserts from pistachio cheesecake, an apple pie to orange and carrot cake and more... House of Wonders is appropriately named: prepare to be surprised and inspired :. Thanks to you and all your staff that make this place a living testament to creative metamorphosis...

Amazing rooftop vegetarian restaurant. The dishes are a work of art and presented in a way that makes you want to eat them all. The waiter described every dish in lots of details. The food was flavorful and complex, with many fruits, veggies and spices. Recommend the fresh juices, the mango, passion fruit and lime was our favorite. Dog friendly.

Absolutely loved House of Wonders. It's genuinely the best vegan/vegetarian food I've ever had! The staff is friendly, and the concept "choose with your eyes" is also great. The dishes look stunning.

Outstanding menu, lots of dishes inspired by a range of different cuisines, all vegetarian and with easy vegan options. Given the choice, the visual menu is a great idea. Service is friendly and the atmosphere across the two opposite venues was lovely, slightly out of the room of the busy square , which adds a lot.

Very cool concept to display all the dishes their offer on a big table instead of having a paper menu. Also the colorful location is a very cozy place. I highly recommend the vegan coconut pudding cake. It was amazing. Dear restaurant, if you read this, can you share the recipe for the cake? 😁

This is a very good restaurant. Everything is fresh and very tasty and the terrace is a good asset even though the pigeons are really fearless. The visual menu is a nice touch but I think they should also write down the explanations because it can be a lot to take in when you are not expecting this. But overall, the food is great and the staff is nice 👍.

One of the best dining experiences I have had in Portugal, or, ever. Both in terms of the concept and ambience, as the incredibly tasty food that was served. You can decide what you want to order not by looking at a menu, but by seeing the dishes in front of you, and just asking what things are and deciding what looks the most appetitive. And the food.. it's so good! Very flavourful, perfectly balanced and just so comforting. Hugely recommended!

Loved the vibe of this place and appreciate a vegetarian restaurant in Cascais! The concept is very interesting as it's a visual menu, you pick what you want and then go sit and wait for it to be brought to you. Since the sample meals are sitting out and don't look as fresh, I'm not the biggest fan, however, my salad was solid. Not wow levels but a solid healthy option!

Visited today and this is now officially my favourite restaurant! It definitely is a house of wonders. The choice of plant based meals (no meat or fish on offer) is amazing and the menu is created, based on seasonal availability. They prepare one of each meal, every day, for customers to explore on their 'visual menu' (table of dishes) which gives you a great insight into what you are getting... as well as making your mouth water! We sat on the roof terrace to eat, which was a super spot with plenty of shade, surrounded by all sorts of plants and succulents. There were seats inside too. The decor in the place is just as good as the food - very chic. And the service we received was really friendly, welcoming and prompt. Reasonably priced too. Can't fault it. Very highly recommended 😁

Love, Love, Love this place! It is one of the few restaurants in Cascais where you can actually get healthy and creatively prepared vegetables! When you walk in to the fun and quirky ordering space, you are greeted with an incredibly beautiful array of colorful dishes on display. The owner, who speaks many languages, describes each dish thoroughly. You will see many vegetarian and vegan options. I love how you order with your eyes since all the dishes are unique and beautiful! Once you order, you then find the table of your choice on the rooftop or beautiful patio completely filled with amazing succulent plants. Your food is brought to you and you pay after you are finished eating. The ONLY improvement in the business model I would recommend is in the way the payment process is handled. I would prefer to either pay before sitting, or have the server bring the pay device to the table. Having to go back in and wait in line to pay is a little disconcerting. Other than this, the restaurant is perfect!

Creative vegetarian choices. Very tasty and delicious. Had a lunch. Sample dishes were displayed (not pictures) on a table and hostess explained all the menu item and the ingredients. Had refreshing green wine for the afternoon. Nice outdoor sitting with great customer service. Highly recommend.

Interesting place with much more potential. The food was quite good and it was shown via a "visual" menu as they explain the dishes of the day. A good place if you are looking for a chilled and relaxed athmosphere and simple food.

We were greeted with a smile by the polyglot owner (?), who promptly explained us that the basis of all dishes are vegetables and therefore, easy to serve with few to no changes to vegans. Juices, craft beers and delicious wines available, and some desserts, but most non-vegan. Slightly expensive for Portuguese standards, but not over the top either. Very cozy rooftop sitting area, and friendly waiters, smack in the center of Cascais!

Nice selection of vegetarian and vegan food. Rather pricey for Portugal but if you are willing to pay it's a great place to sit and enjoy a meal. Be sure to go to to the roof garden as well!

horrible experience! I went to breakfast with my family and from the beginning the attitude of the owner and the waiter was very bad. They did not accompany us to the table and when my mother asked to return a coffee they responded horrible and not to mention that later I got a quiche that had goat cheese that I cannot eat because I am allergic. I asked him to change it and no one attended us, so we had to go down to talk to the owner and what he did was yell at us and throw us out of the restaurant!!! all this only for change a coffee and ask for something else to eat because I'm allergic! I am the customer and I am the one who is paying for a service and for a meal! Not to mention the high prices. What a disappointment! ZERO recommended !!!!!

Great place to have food and/or drinks! The staff is really friendly and they work with a visual menu, so you see immediately what you can order. The menu changes so it's never the same. Their sangria with passionfruit is one of the best I ever had. Colorful decoration, you can also sit outside (the terrace or the rooftop). Even non-vegetarian people will love the food and the vibe here :-)

Absolutely delicious! We went August 2020 and the woman who seemed to be the owner explained to us all the dishes they have available and perfectly displayed at the bar so you can exactly see what you will be eating. She explained to us how they made them and all the ingredients they had. We ordered 2 dishes plus 2 fresh hand made juice which were totally superb! They can speak Portuguese, Spanish , French, English... The food was amazing, completely fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed it! They also have couple of dishes specially designed for kids. I completely recommend to visit this place in the city center of Cascais. Thanks!!! ¡¡Gracias!!

I wouldn't write this if the price matched the offer, but.... Extremely! high price matched with 0 attentiveness, impertinence and not too great, simple food and COLD main dish. So you just get a baked half sweet potato, or aubergine, raw green beans (shouldn't be eaten raw) and salad, and other presumably cooked stuff which appears to be made out of food scraps, leftovers, as some was inedible parts. I'd rather cut vegetables in half myself to put them in the oven with no preparation..... There is nothing wrong with raw carrots featuring in the middle of your dinner plate, but a lot with charging this price for a side dish. Way, way too expensive for this, and for never caring how we liked the food, that it was cold, too salty to eat, no bread, rice or anything coming with vegetables, and certainly not a full healthy dish, as proteins, etc. completely missing. Not once did the waiter or the owner come to our table to ask us if everything was alright ( it was not), I had to get up myself to find them, and we were asked what we wanted to drink when already way into the main course. I left hungry and had to make food at home! Only the cheapest vegetables cooked as easy as possible,.... Place was very very cold. All in all I had a very uncomfortable but expensive evening. Some mention 'unless you are vegan' in their reviews : No! Not a great place for vegan food! Insulting more like it. It is NOT a vegan restaurant and the 3 menu choices didn't include a vegan option even though the place is advertised as 'plant based'. Most good reviews seem to be given by tourists who go there once, don't care or don't know about food and food prices in Portugal, ... Judging from the pictures of other reviews, it seems to be a matter of luck what you're getting.... well, I wasn't offered any of the better and more balanced looking food.

  • 5/5 Priscila T. 3 years ago on Google
The best vegetarian food in Portugal! No joke! From coffee to food and desert, everything delicious! Plus the incredible space. You can enjoy the sun in the terrace, warm up inside or people watch in their patio/garden. Staff are nice and friendly and the owner super lovely.

Absolutely wonderful, the type of food and flavours I could eat every day for the rest of my life. Beautifully eclectic decor, outdoor terrace 'garden' and rooftop seating, amazing lunch specials and delicious juices all made in house daily. Also just the most wonderful hostess (presumably owner) who took her time to go through every special item in detail and really makes you feel welcome. You don't find gems like this very often!!!

We ate here last night and can't wait to go back. They have both lunch and dinner with a variety of plates. We got the house made sangria (highly recommended - 1litre for €15) and dinner with two dishes (about €15 each). We saw them bring in the desert and had to have some - it was described as a cacao/coffee cake but was so much more. So much flavour and definitely a must have! We hope to go back multiple times over our trip! Also the staff are all very friendly and speak so many languages and the manager is very friendly.

Loved everything about this restaurant. It already started with choosing our food and drinks. The food is all presented in a visual way and the staff were very helpful in explaining the options as well as letting us taste some of the juices so we could pick the right one. The terrace is very nice and the food is just delicious! This is how I truly like vegetarian food. The taste is wonderful and so the name of the restaurant is well picked. Also really liked the ginger beer. Whenever I would be in Cascais again, I would for sure go there again.

An absolute must visit, the place is vegetarian and although it’s not my usual go to, it is an amazing place, the food is ‘visually presented’ by having actual plates with food out while a staff member explains what is on each dish, before you order and they make your dish and the food is so delicious. We also had the rose sangria, which is truly the best sangria I’ve ever had, so tasty. Finally, remember they have a rooftop, although they have a nice outdoor space on the ground floor, the rooftop is lovely!

What a gem. This place is your go-to if you are looking for soul-nourishing food, mainly made with fresh vegetables. We tried the Shakshuka… it was the best we had ever. The Portobello & Dahl were also super tasty! We also had the Hot Wine, which is like a combination of Sangria and Glühwein. We loved it! The visual menu is really handy, as you see what portions to expect so less food waste! The owner is lovely and the staff really friendly. The garden and roof terrace are super colourful and full of plants and art. Don’t miss this place!

I loooove good veggie-based meals!! This restaurant had a wonderful variety and everything seemed so good. Our meals were filling and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. A quick note… you must order your meal at the counter inside and then make your way to a seating area. They have a few outdoor and a couple of indoor spaces as well. Loved it!

Brilliant! Fresh and great tasting food down by the beach with lots of vegan options. We tried the “sushi”, pasta salad, shakshuka, and quiche which were all wonderful. Would 10/10 recommend.

Wow! What a fantastic vegan restaurant! Not your normal dining experience, as there’s no menu as such, you just look at the dishes on display and pick whatever your eyes (or belly!) desires. I’m not opposed to meat substitutes, but I prefer to eat ‘clean’, so I loved that House of Wonders also embraces this type of cooking. I had the falafel burger, which came with salad, and the most gorgeous dressing. Every mouthful was an absolute pleasure, and I thoroughly enjoyed every morsel! Highly recommended!

I would give 6 stars if I could! Excellent exterior patio! The idea of being able to see all the dishes and choose was original and very convenient! The food was amazing! We were not hungry but we chose one dish because we desperately wanted to try something. The place is unique and the creator definitely put her love, her passion and her heart into this place. Wish I could come again!!

Absolutely loved this place for some good vibes after walking in the sun for a while! Great hidden spot with lots of seating options (outside in the shadow/sun, rooftop terrace, inside). Food is very good (you get a lot for what you pay -> 12,75 for any meal) and staff is really kind. Gluten free options available!

Very nice place to eat. It’s different in every way. You start by choosing your meal and then find a place to sit in their different sitting areas. You have the rooftop and the 2 other outdoors place to enjoy your meal. Take the time to visit the whole building. Very healthy food! I recommend it!

Never had been such a huge fan of vegetarian but after trying the vegetarian food of House of wonders. I just felt in love with vegetarian food. It was really delicious and had enjoy every food. The most recommended drink is SANGRIA here and the Staffs here are really friendly and awesome hospitality. I would recommend everybody visiting Cascas to go there and taste these delicious food along with beautiful rooftop view.

Beautiful town and wonderful food, HoW offers a great selection of warm, hot and cold plates of food for lunch. The staff typically gives a preview of the plates through the use of smaller and you select one to eat. Choose sitting inside or on two terraces or patios in the area. We enjoyed our time there, the food was freshly prepared, great presentation and delicious. Good for lunch with right the right portions. Of the plates there were a handful that could be turned vegan or plant based.

So happy we found this place! Generous lunch with all the beauty and flavours from nature. Cosy rooftop with nice music, where we had a discrete spot surrounded by plants. Very welcoming people, and we liked the concept of "choose with your eyes". One price for all the lunch dishes, very straightforward.

Wonderful restaurant in a spectacular setting in central Cascais. I am not vegetarian but I found this a great dining experience. The “Yellow” fruit drink is a must, contains passion fruit, mango and lime. Food and ingredients are top class and are works of art on a plate. Very friendly staff and beautiful roof top and terrace location to eat from.

Loved this restaurant! Loved the visual menus with a lovely space to chill outside while eating! This is a MUST VISIT if you’re in the area or planning to come. Good quality was very high.

What a cool place for a late night cocktail. Or a fresh and delicious breakfast. We did both and found food and atmosphere to be just brilliant. If you want a laid back chill zone just off the tourist strip look no further its a Cascais Gem well worth a look.

When I visited this place, I only had drinks and no food. You need to order downstairs and then you get have your drink at the rooftop location. It is very nice upstairs (although you do not have the best view over Cascais). The Sangria was very delicious and the food looked also very tasy.

What an amazing discovery in Cascais. We stopped at House of Wonders for lunch and it was a great experience. The restaurant is very colorful as well as all the food served there. Everything is vegetarian but all dishes can be made vegan upon request. They have a visual menu where they explain what the options are for the day and everything looked so tasty. The staff was very friendly and the overall service was great. We had a vegan burger and a vegan crepes and they both tasted very good, full of flavours. We had lunch in the dehors outside the restaurant but they also have a rooftop. This was an amazing experience and I would definitely go back!

Such an amazing gem 💎 of a place in the heart of Cascais! Love the idea of a visual menu and all our dishes were amazing. We went for shakshuka with hummus, vegetarian Tom Yum, kids pasta and pizza. And the pistachio cheesecake is something else. Love the vibes here too. Especially the rooftop terrace!

I love the 3-story lay-out: We climbed from the first floor, where we "ordered with our eyes" from the array of dishes on offer that day, past the 2nd-floor kitchen filled with the fresh produce the chefs transform into yummy meals, to the plein air rooftop seating. Excellent vegetarian options.

The place looks amazing, the service is super great, and the food was very very good. They are a group of young people from Nepal, making a great job with their concept of vegetarian delicious restaurant with every day cooking ALL the menu and put it as a visual menu on the table by the reception, a cocktail bar and an art shop. At the end of the day they give the food away and they don’t waste it. The juices are also all fresh, without sugar. We also bought an earrings and the little bag that we got the earrings in it was also from Nepal. We also bought a beautiful bowl, that was also handmade by a friend of them.

Only had an Aperol spritz. It was nice. The rooftop is cute but the ambience could be lifted with some music. They have a visual menu, and the food does look good, but we didn’t try.

Amazing place! So good to find somewhere in Lisbon not just serving meat and fish.😆 The visual menu is wonderful, all the dishes have a beautiful combination of colourful, fresh & healthy ingredients, the decor is great and the staff are lovely. Perfect all round.

Extremely good vegetarian dinner! As a non-full time vegetarian, it was a perfect dinner for quality, healthy food that was very good and all fresh ingredients. The drinks/mocktail options were also a bonus! It was a nice experience being able to choose your meals based on seeing the dishes as opposed to reading a menu. The people were very nice and the seating options between a beautiful outdoor terrace and rooftop were wonderful!

The experience here was amazing. You’re greeted with a visual menu with the waiter explaining the concept and each dish you’re looking at. We also sat on the rooftop which has a lovely view of the town. The portion sizes were very generous and all the portions were delicious. The pesto dip starters I found especially delicious along with the lasagna main
