The location is excellent, really couldn't be better. However this is really where the benefits of staying at this hotel stop. Beautiful building from the outside , the interior and the staff are aged and lacking in quality. Breakfast is a joke, people are waving and yelling at staff who stand in circles facing each other and ignoring customers. The choice at breakfast in no way reflects local cuisine at all and the food is of a very low quality indeed. Holes in the table cloth complete a disaster breakfast. I was in a superior room and personally I would never want to see any rooms below this tier. I was on the mezzanine floor, I could smell what was being cooked every day. The room had a ledge outside it that was constantly having lit cigarettes from the rooms above it thrown onto it, so if you opened the window you just got cigarette smoke. The entertainment system in the room is antiquated, channels that they advertise they have aren't even there, someone hasn't been paying the cable bill. The phones are from an office in the 1970s and there is no other tech in the room whatsoever. Walls are so thin you can hear everything next door. The rooms are dated and threadbare. I was repeatedly assured I was in a superior room.... The pool is very pretty but on a busy day with 40 people or so only one person serving drinks. When an American guest got up to ask another member of staff for help she was told to go to. the bar instead, he then walked off. Not helpful. It's worth saying the chamber maids are very diligent and work hard. However some pastries that were left in my room by the hotel were left for over a week and actually went mouldy, no one removed them. The young guys working the hotel bar were understaffed but did a good job. The elderly men who work in Reception are bizzare and will grab car doors out of your hand to make a point. Young ladies get a lot of extra attention from the elderly male staff at this hotel. The banyan tree spa is a highlight it has to be said and is a very good addition. This hotel is not 5*, it's over priced and poorly staffed. Externally beautiful, trading of some glamorous reputation from 40 years ago it's badly in need of investment.

Waited 45 minutes for the most depressing plate of food I've ever seen, ordered a tomato and cheese sandwich for 12 euros, and when it arrived, the bread was stale, and there was next to no filling, not even any proper cheese. This place is living on past glories and needs to provide a high level of service and not just look the part, which even then it struggles.

This is a special place - old fashioned (but in a good way) - Mr Diogo (who had a cameo role in Her Majesty's Secret Service) is still there after 54 yrs! Excellent buffet-style breakfast the rooms are comfortable and ours had a lovely view over the pool and to the beach, beyond. It evokes a different era but the incredibly attentive and caring staff (who are amazing with kids) make it so worth the extra expense.

We had an amazing time at Palacio Estoril. The staff was really kind and the service was more than expected. We tried the half board option and was really good. The hotel offers two restaurants, the four seasons, and the terrace. Both were good! Also, we had different choices for breakfast. I would return!

The hotel is located in the center of Estoril. Walking distance to the beach and casino. It is a 30min drive to Lisbon. If you want to go explore Cascais you can walk there within 30minutes or take the taxi for 5mins. There is a pool and a spa with indoor pool, relaxing zones and steam & finish sauna. They offer free shuttles to the Golf course. If you are interested in playing golf make sure to email them as they might have some special offers including greenfee. Breakfast was excellent. Waiters are also superbe. There are two reasons why I am not giving 5 stars. 1) The reception is horrible. It is small and staff is unfriendly. Our room was not ready and a pretty small room for 3 people. The guy at the reception mentioned that this is the biggest room they have, which was obviously not true. Also our room should only be ready at 5pm. Luckily the head of reservations, Tania, was there who found a solution quickly. However, the first perception was pretty bad. 2) The drinks are very expensive. More than 10€ for a beer! Nevertheless we had a very good stay at this hotel.

It really had everything. I have nothing to complain about and had a great stay throughout. It really deserves it's five stars. Many thanks to the great staff! Especially the cleaning lady and the gentlemens greeting us at the entrance.

Palace would be the best description for that hotel. Transitional hospitality with modern accommodations. The chef exceed himself in every meal and Inez was the most kind and helpful receptionist I've ever meet, always making us feel good with her lovely smile. The breakfast was perfect with premium quality food and always fresh (food and juices made at the spot). Highly recommended. Can't wait to visit again.

The building facade, entrance, dining, bar and terrace are indeed 5*, but the rooms are not. When I checked in, I went to take a shower at 5pm, the water was warm, not hot, cue cold shower. The bathroom smelt damp. During the night, on three separate occasions, I had to kill a large moth and two small one that's were flapping above my head in the dark. The windows were shut but I assume they are accessing through another cavity. The large one was 4cm long, very unattractive! Till beyond midnight, adjacent rooms were moving furniture causing noise to wrattle and groan around the building. The hotel should fit special small soft pads to furniture legs (these are easy and cheap to get). A disrupted sleep for a 5 star hotel is not acceptable, and moths flying around a room at 2am isn't either. There were also many insects on the wall. Again I never opened the windows or doors. Another traveller said you could hear the lift all night opening and closing and the doors to other rooms slamming. I wouldn't return. Finally I would stay in Cascais, Estoril is actually pretty quiet and has no centre to it

MUST DO BETTER REVIEW. For a 5*, you will be disappointed. You can’t beat the old fashioned feeling with pictures of royalty lining the hallways BUT, we were a group of 10 (5 rooms) and this was our experience: Negatives * No refreshments upon arrival for some * Spa fully booked so no treatments available to 10 guests upon check-in, and no notice given in advance advising we should book all our treatments in advance - the reception did apologise. * Poolside service is SLOW. You could be waiting 20-30mins for your drink or some chips (coffee is €5 and it will not be the best you’ve had). * a large wedding party arrived who were not placed together in one part of the hotel which is commonplace for many places due to the fact they’re celebrating and there is often a lot of noise. So at 02:00-03:00, it’s no surprise when guests on different floors were complaining of noise and being woken up! Better room organisation and response is needed here (hard when it’s 1 person on the night desk). * public park opposite the hotel (poolside view) had groups gathered for a few nights and playing music so loud it sounded like a festival! So overall with the wedding party and this, you may not get the smoothest nights rest. * one couple in our group requested tea cups to make a drink in their room and had to ask 3 times only for them to NOT be delivered! Wasn’t until 24 hours later when they spoke to reception did this get resolved. Positives: * the majority of staff are very friendly and helpful, particularly one bartender (forget his name), a maid and the concierge staff. Young receptionist was lovely but not senior enough to make any real changes to reverse our experience and nor did the hotel go out of their way to make it up to us. Don’t get me wrong we had a nice time but overall this is not the standard or experience you expect and pay for at a 5*.

The hotel is beautiful, gardens are stunning, pool is nice, staff is super friendly, breakfast was not great but I guess just OK, but the reason why I felt motivated to write this review is because out of the 25 days that we spent in Europe, and over 10 different hotels, this was the ONLY hotel where our sleep was a nightmare. The bed was hard as a rock, super old and small. Both me and my wife woke up with the worst backaches of our lives and we are barely in our 40's. The bedroom itself was so old and tiny plus a dirty mini-fridge. What good is a hotel with beautiful amenities but terrible bedrooms and beds? We wanted to run away after the first night but unfortunately we had pre-paid our stay via a third party website. We had to order more pillows in order to barely make it the following 3 nights. Staying here was our biggest mistake ever.

Amazing hotel! Classic elegance but doesn’t feel stuffy or outdated. Beds and bedding were amazing, had a great sleep! Breakfast was incredible. Bar is sexy and vibey. Highly recommend! Great location as well.

The hotel is the best in the area, very old style but beautiful, we had a suite, which was lovely. However the service was not 5-star, it was neither the fastest or kindest at times. When calling for room service, perhaps they were busy but I had people put the phone down on me when trying to order. We also were disappointed that we had booked for 5 nights and were charged for 6, when the communication from my side had requested 5 nights in email correspondence. They refused to give a refund and didn't offer any form of apology or acknowledgement even though we did not stay that last night and I showed emails and evidence of my initial request. When paying it was my fault to not check the final dates but I felt that in all lines of communication it was for 5 nights yet charged for 6 and then just no flexibility on refunding any money for the last night, not even a small charge back to us. Just an email saying....no. Honestly it left a bad taste and we wouldn't stay again because of it.

My wife and I visited Palacio Estoril for a baby moon in October and had a magnificent time. The hotel holds a ton of history and is very charming. The location is peaceful and convenient; Cascais is walking distance or a quick drive, you’re close to Sintra and Lisbon is about 30-40 minutes away in an Uber. Beatrice at breakfast was always quick to get us our table and helpful with all of our requests. One night we were invited by Nuno and Domingos to an exquisite, multi-course wine dinner held at the hotel. We met other guests from around the world—it was a very try fun night! The highlight of our trip was The Banyan Tree spa. We did the Sense of Rejuvenation package and it was well worth it. Vera was so helpful and accommodating of our schedule. Every single treatment we had was 5 star. Request Swanie and Nat whenever possible. They are unbelievable therapists. If you’re looking for a luxurious, relaxing resort experience close to all that Lisbon has to offer, you’ll really enjoy Palacio Estoril.

Nice rooms. Pool is amazing, get there early to grab a chair. Prepare for rude people. Nearly impossible to get a drink in the bar throughout our stay. Maybe it’s just the culture, but put waiters out by the pool to take drink orders, you’d make a killing.

Breakfast experience is amazing. I went to many restaurants in my life, some of them were good enough to get the star of Michelin. I have come across very few waiters who serve as well as Joao from Monday morning shift does. It is an incredible success to bring together such excellent workers in a country with such a difficulty in the service sector. I will definitely prefer this place for my accommodation needs.

6 of us stayed at the Palacio for a 3-night golf trip. Due to Covid etc, had been a gap of 6 years from our previous 2 visits. Hotel is just as fantastic - beautiful building, spacious comfortable rooms, outstanding breakfast and great service. We ate in the restaurant first night on the half-board menu. Lovely food and good value at 45 Euros. Spa facility is included and again is top notch. We will definetely be returning to the Palacio for a winter golf break

Unfortunately, we could not sleep as they had an event, possibly a wedding. The sub-base travels through walls and despite our continued requests at 2:30, 3:00, and 3:30 am and at 4:30 am to lower or stop the music, we were ignored. So much for customer care .... Otherwise a grand vintage lady that echoes with glory from the past. Time travel into how hotels used to be.... Tired, but still going timelessly.

Nothing special. You can expect good English only in the lobby. Don't expect vegetables for the breakfast. Only meat and tons of carbs. There were things broken in my room. I was told someone will come and fix them. Noone came over many days. I guess most of the people prise the place due to history. Sadly that's the only good thing. Guys step up your game.

I can’t begin to describe how exceptional our stay was - we came as guests and depart feeling like we’re leaving family. The staff delivered on a scale which far exceeded our expectations! Charming and palatial are truly understatements here, while there was a mere modicum of availability at the spa, the hotel staff were absolutely remarkable and the lengths they went to for us will leave a lasting impression for our lifetime. Mr Jose Diogo and Marco are the quintessential epitome of the class and countenance concierges all over the world should emulate - never imagined that caliber of service at any of the 5-star hotels we’ve stayed at in the past. Tiago ensured our every need was met during our four day stay - service was world class and we appreciated his attention to detail! Mr. Jose Afonso our doorman exuded charm each and everyday. Wilson ensured our time at the pool was first rate and was kind enough to check in on us throughout our days. Housekeeping and restaurant staff spared no effort to make us feel like we were the most important guests on the grounds. Regardless of when we visit, the Hotel Palacio Estoril will be the only place we stay on future trips to Portugal!

we visited the famous hotel bar and enjoyed perfect service, perfect cocktails and a perfect Club sandwich. Fair pricing. Well worth a visit!

Old but charming hotel in a calm area but good centre location to visit the rest of Portugal too, cheap for 5 stars, tap water has chlorine flavor. Great service, good price for b&breakfast + spa (150 €/night)

This hotel is a reminiscent of old times and royalties. They have many memorabilia of old history here. Classy hotel with accommodating staff all around from the front desk to the buffet room. The hotel is just a few minute walk to the boardwalk by the water. Many choices of restaurants around.

Everything was absolutely beautiful. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Location is very good. Only downfall is I got a bad case of bedbugs from this hotel. 🥲🥲🥲

It is a hotel with a beautiful history, but unfortunately it does not deserve 5 stars. The food is poor, but the room disappointed me the worst, you can hear absolutely everything through the walls and you can't sleep. Very nice staff, clean pool and the hotel looks good.

Good hotel, filled with history! I was there for a conference and I had a pleasant stay even though it is not the style of hotel I appreciate: too much old-style classic palace which felt “dusty”. I prefer an hotel where the bathroom isn’t in marble, but where I don’t hear flushes from other rooms… In my opinion it is a waste of time, staff and natural resources to change towels every day (or even twice a day!). Please provide an easy way to refuse that kind of service like in most hotels nowadays (e.g. do not renew towels if they aren’t dropped on the floor or in the sink). During buffet lunches, the staff was very kind but similarly a bit too much present for my taste.

I am hoping to provide a better review however the hotel charged me twice for one room one night and has not responded after sending three emails and providing receipts
