We found this place when we were passing through Portland on our roadtrip. It is a unique combination of game Cafe, bar, and restaurant. You can get a delicious meal with a drink and play some board games at the same time! The actual location is classy, with sleek decor and very spacious. The game borrowing is free too! If you decide you want to purchase a game then you can get it at the front of the store. The restaurant has accommodations for vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options. If you decide you don't want to get food the have tables for that too. We absolutely loved this place a d will be recommending it to our friends.

This place is my dream spot. It's a good thing I don't live in Portland or I would be broke. Firstly it's a board game store, but it doesn't end there, they have a full restaurant and bar with excellent food and cocktails. You can play test games at your table while you eat and drink. It's simply amazing. Atmosphere is beautiful and high end. Food and drink is a little pricey, but honestly the quality was so superb I didn't mind at all. Definitely my new go to spot when I visit the city

Mox Boarding House was honestly fantastic. It’s a super large space that can accommodate large groups. Games are free to check out and food/drink was delish! Service was great and staff were super friendly and welcoming. Love this place and can’t wait to go back.

Fun place to play games and eat. This review is just for the restaurant. I wanted to give 5 but our food took so long to be served and was salty. The food tasted good minus being salty. After we were done eating we had to wait for so long for our waiter to check back on us and we wanted to order dessert until finally another waiter saw that we have been waiting for so long and took our desert order. I will probably be back again just because the food tasted good and it was a fun place.

This was a happy accident for our Portland trip. We were on our way to the rose garden and passed by this store and stocked here for hours lol. It’s like a board game library with really nice lighting and restaurant. You could buy a game here and start playing without worrying food. We bought a lot of board games at the end and wish we could really sit and play the next time we are here.

This is an amazing board game shop/restaurant/bar. The interior design is so cool and atmospheric with the bathrooms feeling like they are straight out of Hogwarts. The staff is super nice and friendly, and the entire experience of shopping for games, playing games, and hanging/eating/drinking was just superb. Highly recommend if you ever find yourself in Portland and want to play some games!

This place was bonkers!!!! It's the game shop we all want and deserve!!!! Chandeliers and tabletop games 🙌. They have great game selection. They have plenty of tabletop and role playing. They have nice game tables for TT or anything else. PLUS- they have an excellent kitchen/menu. We tried the fries, the Mac n cheese(with barbacoa), chicken strips, and the hummus plate. Everything was excellent. Also had a cocktail that was delicious, because they also have a full bar!!

MOX Boarding House is the most beautiful local game store you'll ever see, and a fantastic restaurant at the same time! Their beer list is constantly rotating and the food is exciting and full of flavor. The game selection honestly can't be beat, especially if you're looking for Magic the Gathering. The play space is designed for tabletop tournaments, with an additional three rooms for private parties. This place also has the best bathrooms. Very private and clean all-gender stalls with a communal sink that has a three-tier chandelier over it. The best part about this place is that you can bring anyone with you and they will feel comfortable and impressed. It's always dusted, organized, and clean. The staff are helpful and enthusiastic. The only real downside is that the food here isn't all that cheap, though it's hard to say it's not worth it. This is a gamer haven that scrubs all the stigma from the word "nerd" and replaces it with delicious cocktails.

This place is gorgeous. The staff know what they are doing, and can be trusted with uncommon cocktails. I was in with a Meetup, and the welcome and tables were great. One minor warning. They do have a stock of games you can check out, but have a far better selection for sale. Best to bring your own or buy if you want something specific.

Food is always delicious. Staff are always so welcoming and sweet. I'm always able to find titles I can't find anywhere else. I took my son for lunch and his first Pokemon deck for his 8th birthday, and it was a smash hit!

Food was alright as it wasn’t bad but had better but it’s what you want expect here since it’s more for the experience of eating while playing board games and which was nice during our Portland trip. High tip level starting at 20 plus % but I guess you can change it but kinda intimidating when sever is staring over you. Nice that you can stay as long as you want to play but food is on the pricey side imo for the quality.

I was pretty surprised that the food here was actually good. There is a surprising amount of different options at the restaurant inside this game store. I fully expected a small menu with 1 or 2 themed drinks to accompany whatever game you happened to be playing. Not the case. The menu isn't large granted but the quality was several steps higher than I expected. Definitely a good stop in for solid food and fun games to wine and game the night away.

Amazing staff! The host was also our server and he was wonderful! We just had an apple cider and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was very creamy and just the right portion size. We didn't have any games to play at the time but it seems it would be perfect for friends to gather and play board games. Will come back if we visit Portland agin!

Come here often, and really enjoy the experience almost every time. Fantastic selection of board games, and a super knowledgeable staff that is extremely helpful with answering questions. The quality of food is also surprisingly high for a board game cafe/restaurant. They change the menu seasonally and although sometimes favorite items of mine (chicharon nachos) fall off the menu, they are always replaced my items just as inventive and delicious. One waiter call out is Tim - it’s staff like him that make it an easy decision to keep coming back. But for real all the staff is welcoming and pleasant. I do wish they’d be a bit more liberal with seating parties of 2-3 at booths. If you are willing to come in and play in a week night and buy drinks and food, I don’t think it’s right to keep 3 booths in reserve just in case larger parties show up. But regardless, great restaurant.

I absolutely love this place. I go just to enjoy the board game space, fun drinks, and delicious gluten free food options. Often pick up new TTRPG games and add-ons. Love seeing groups okay and eat together.
