It took Several minutes for the waiter to get to our table but once there the pace of the food and service picked up considerably. ordered the Jake's Etouffe and was very happy With the amount of seasoning. Liked them leaving the rice in a clump so that I could put as much as I wanted. Would have enjoyed it more if the shrimp had been fried In a skillet rather than boiled. This gives a completely different texture to the shrimp and more flavor in the a them. The sole was well seasoned but a bit tough. The crab cakes were perfect!

This is one of my go-to spots whenever I'm in the downtown Portland area. The location is rich in history and has been around since the 1800s. The food here is absolutely delicious!!! Everything on the menu is good, so you can't order the wrong thing. The drinks are good, and the people here are friendly and more than willing to make your visit a pleasant one! If you like history, good atmosphere, good people, good service, delicious food and drink, definitely stop by. You'll definitely want to go back!!!

My first time dining here and I enjoyed everything about this place! Waiters and the lady at the bar are friendly, the manager tonight was super attentive and swung by our table and gave us extra sauce for our appetizers, plus Bloody Mary’s was super delicious! The environment alone was cozy, especially on a rainy night. We got so full on appetizer’s, so when our meal was delivered to our table, we were already full. I cannot recommend this place enough…. This is a great place! We will totally be back. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful night. I totally recommend this place.

The food is outstanding! I ordered the famous crawfish etouffee and my wife got the crab and shrimp stuffed salmon! Both dishes surpassed our expectations, I highly recommend this establishment for your seafood dining.

The food here is undoubtedly amazing! Lots of flavor and obviously well mastered skills. Their drinks were also well made and tasted really good. On the downside, the service sucked. We were told that of we sit outside we can just take an open table and someone will be with us right away. They weren't. We waited 35 minutes without a waiter coming to us( thankfully a bus boy was around to bring us a menu and waters) and when I went inside to ask why we haven't been served yet (it was busy and a weekend I get it but over half an hour just to see someone...?) They just made excuses until a lady corrected them and said there is no excuse for that and someone will be right with us. When they finally came they had a bad attitude, got us the wrong appetizer and was just overall not friendly. Took 45 minutes just to have a waitress come over and say hello and grab our drinks. For an expensive restaurant, they should have better service because I could have taken my money elsewhere. Disappointed but not in the food.

Went here 7/23/2022, honestly, most amazing seafood I've ever had! I absolutely love the aesthetic of the place. The staff are dressed in the most amazing, classy outfits. I love how nice our waitress Natalie was! She was on it with the martinis and food. She checked up on us quite a bit, super polite woman. I came here for my birthday and they gave me a free piece of flour -less, dark chocolate cake with a bitter rasperry syrup. It's on the expensive side, but it's worth it. They treat you very very well.

Insanely delicious. The raw oysters were so delicious. Crawfish Penne has a bit of a kick to it and it was so creamy! Truffle Cake was a great finisher and the Berry Berry Mojito was absolutely refreshing in this 80F weather! Wonderful food!

Highly recommend. This place has been around for over a hundred years for a reason. We were seated in an alcove that sat 6. It is pricey. For six of us to eat, appetizers, drinks and dessert we were in well over $300. Favorites were french onion soup, fish and chips and the cod with crab and shrimp. Fish & chips is lightly breaded and very tender. Not a single dish we wouldn't recommend. Historic Portland seafood right in the heart of downtown.

Food was good. We got the Parmesan Sole, Crab Cakes, Crab and Shrimp Stuffed Salmon, and some fresh Oysters. The sides were mashed potatoes and greens beans with shredded carrots on top. I can't stand vegetables and the greens beans this evening were delicious. I ate them all. Such a great experience. Our server, Brett, was so efficient and kind. Excellent customer service. Such a cozy environment. I would definitely suggest making a reservation. It was pretty busy when we went. So our reservation for 6pm definitely helped. Only downside is the benches are extremely difficult to get out of. Very small and the edges are so high. Suggest a table if you go maybe.

The food and service were so good. I can’t remember our servers name but she was so Attentive and fast! All her recommendations were top notch! Even the drinks. The places is so nice it reminds me of an old movie where a speak easy would be. We went right at lunch time so there was no wait. I was so full I couldn’t try dessert but it all looked very delicious. Glad my classmate told me about this place. If you’re visiting Portland it’s a must go! I had the stuffed salmon my mom Had the chicken pasta and the crab dip appetizer was DANGING!

Crab and artichoke dip was pretty red pepper heavy which wasn’t expected but overall good. Pita was crunchy, garlicky and salty which paired with the dip nicely. The calamari was tasty however the dipping sauce had an interesting tang to it not your usual aioli to go with calamari. The special we split for our meal was delicious. The cheese sauce the crab and shrimp was mixed in and stuffed into the perfectly prepared salmon. The green beans were cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes didn’t disappoint. Definitely would recommend.

Still pretty good after all these years. This is the ultimate old Portland restaurant. Mostly comfort food is served her but it's pretty good.

Had a great evening. Food was very good. As a starter we had the fried calamari. Enough for 2 to share. Carla, our super friendly waitress, recommended me the bouillabaisse soup and it was really delicious. My husband had the salmon , also very tasty. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant and super friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Welcome back to a time when dining out was a special event. Jake’s has all the stuff that makes a person enjoy shelling out their hard-earned bucks and feel generous and gratitude for being so well taken care of. Servers have panache and an ear to the ground. Want to know about nightlife? Done. Local haunts, done. What to order curated by knowledgeable staff, done. Atmosphere screams personal engagement. Guests in the bar mingled amongst each other, shared stories and dined like kings. Drinks were generous club pours and bespoke martinis with blue cheese-stuffed olives flowed like wine, each sip stinging the sweet slurp of oyster liquor and vibrant mignonette. Succulent Dungeness crab and gloriously creamy Alfredo paired like poetry to the palate. Prepare to be pampered. Prepare for a food coma. Prepare to be satisfied. For our epicurean evening was the main event. We were spent, satisfied, elated and wrapped by the warm embrace of an excellent evening. The perfect setting for a successful date.

Outstanding food, service and pricing. We were looking for a seafood restaurant and this one came up near the top of my search. We went during a weekday for lunch so it wasn’t busy. They serve a limited menu with excellent choices and several seafood dishes. We tried so old favorites along with some new twists and left there feeling full and happy. Our server Emily was just a delight. She was engaging, efficient and knew a ton about the menu. This was an excellent overall experience.

A home run in all ways. Good service and quality food in a fun old-timey place. I had the trout and my wife had a salmon mushroom dish. We added a wedge salad and French onion soup. All quality choices. Only problem is parking, which is endemic to the area.

Lovely atmosphere and the food is top notch. Maybe it's me, but their crawfish felt a little "soapy" even though that's their speciality. Loved the oysters, even though one was not shuckled perfectly. Seafood pasta was very comforting and perfect for any day. Enjoyed a pinot gris which, even though recommended as a drier options, was not as dry.. Overall pleasent, even though service can be improved a tad..

Took my wife here for Mother's Day. This is a very popular location so I would recommend making a reservation. The food was cooked absolutely perfectly. My wife had the salmon and I had the stuffed halibut. The desserts were all superb!! I would def recommend this place for a special someone!!

A Portland classic. Sat at a table inthe bar and it wasn't too busy for a Friday night but others i saw coming in had a hard time getting a seat later in the dinner hour. Cocktails were amazing. The bartenders know what they are doing and can make pretty much anything you want, perfectly. Waitresses were friendly and very attentive. Always a good selection of oysters and other seafood but the menu is on the mid to higher price range. But you get a great atmosphere, great service, and a really nice but laid back environment. Location is very easy to get to but parking, as anywhere downtown can be difficult if you need to park really close.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food had a ton of flavor. The crab and artichoke dip was exceptionally good. The stuffed salmon had a blended shrimp and lobster stuffing. However, it was still very filling and tasty. The steak was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Well worth the price!

I had been wanting to come to Portland just to eat here, and it did not disappoint. We had a wonderful time, and I could not speak enough about how amazing the food was. Our server, Brett, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. We had oyster shooters, steamer clams, etouffee, crabcakes, and the cod. The steamer clams were very buttery and delicious. Our drinks were top-notch, we enjoyed them very much. We will definitely be back for more.

We had a lovely dining experience! Jake’s famous crawfish is full of history!! We had great servers who are there to show you a real experience. Servers took their time at the table to thoroughly explain the menu and the history behind the restaurant. This place is definitely on the pricier side!! But, your paying for the experience and not just the food. We were able to make a reservation on Yelp which was great for a busy Saturday evening.
