NEVER BOOK AN EVENT AT MAZZI’S! The most unfortunate experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant in my life and to make it even worse it was my own wedding. I booked the private room for a party of 30 well in advance. I had been in communication with Brett one of the managers. I paid $125 to have the private room for the whole night. He asked when I’d be there and I requested 4:15pm so I could set up some decorations for the wedding. He came and introduced himself to me only once, he was very unfriendly. Everything was going great until around 6:45pm our waitress told us that Brett said we needed to be out in 15 minutes! We hadn’t even cut our wedding cake yet or anything! I was so upset I was crying (on my own wedding night!!) and didn’t understand why we were being told we had to leave when I payed to have the private room for the whole night. I spoke to Brett and he pretended he had no clue what I was talking about in regards to having the room the whole night. I wish I had known to get a contract in writing saying that we’d have the room all night. I truly couldn’t believe this was happening. He told us that another party was renting the room at 7:30. We refused to leave bc we hadn’t even had our cake or done presents. At around 7:15 he had his workers in the room trying to move tables around while our guests were still eating! We ended up all moving to one table since some of our guests had left. We had been playing music and kids were dancing throughout the night it was so fun! He came in and demanded I turn off the music and that the kids needed to stay in there seats. Mind you, these are all children under the age of 5! Plus who doesn’t dance at a wedding!? He knew what the plan was and he snuck around, planned another party with the assumption we’d be leaving by 7:30. When the next party came they were clearly very upset as well. Brett told us he put the heaters on OUTSIDE so we could move our party outside. It was VERY cold and we had 4 infants with us. One being my 5 month old son. Why would we want to sit outside in the dark, wet, rainy weather anyways? Truly the day was going perfect until Brett had to ruin it. My partner and I are both in recovery so we said nobody would be drinking at the wedding. Brett even mentioned to us that night when this was all going down that he figured since we weren’t drinking we would be out early. That is so unfair. If this hadn’t happened, I would’ve had our next big event there considering the food and atmosphere was so nice. However, with everything that happened we will NEVER be going back there again. Everyone who was there with us was also horrified. My parents and brothers flew out from New Jersey to be here for my wedding and they couldn’t believe the way my husband and I were treated by Brett. It was truly disgusting! He is a creep and stole our money. We also ended up paying three times the tip amount. My parents were not informed that 20% gratuity was already on the bill. They and someone else paid two separate tips. Someone should have informed them they were paying extra when the tip was included. I will not recommend this place to anyone solely because of Brett. I also will be fighting to get my money back for the “private room”. Another side note is that Brett said they were going to create a kids menu and he never did.

It was very loud inside. I know people want to have a good time, but they should be respectful of their noise level. There was a huge party that was waiting to be seated and they stood at the door yelling, laughing, and playing around. College students yes, but they should be respectful. We couldn't hear ourselves think it was so loud. It made it difficult to enjoy our meal and company. The server got stuck with this huge crowd and we were great full for the other servers that helped him out to help us since the other people took up all his time. The food is great as always. But disappointed they got rid of their Tuscan chicken.

Fantastic. Just fantastic. Took the wife for a birthday dinner, we both were absolutely floored by the level of service and quality of the food. 100% worth the price.

Pretty yum---I went here with a few friends and the food was great. I do recommend making a reservation if you can, it seemed pretty packed when we arrived later in the day and I'm glad we had one. My rigatoni with beef and pork sauce was tasty---maybe not the best I've ever had, but pretty good. The standout of my meal was the green salad with pesto sauce... specifically, the pesto sauce was quite delicious. Service was prompt and friendly; will likely end up coming back here sometime.

It was Saturday Eve and busy, so we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks until our table for two was ready. The 25 or so minutes went by quickly and our food was delicious! We ordered the Bruschetta and an individual pesto chicken and artichoke pizza ( mmmm!) And shared an order of the Cannelloni. They also served is some of the best rolls I've had in a long time! And I love bread, so that's saying something. Enjoy your visit!

The braised short ribs in a wine sauce was so... good, very tender and falls apart, yet you need a knife to cut fingerling potatoes. They should be where you can mash them with a fork. The buttermilk pesto dressing was really good. The only thing wrong was the waitress kept taking a long time to come around and had to wait when we had a reservation.

I haven’t been to very many places in Eugene that I would consider “fine dining” but this place is definitely one to check out if you want that type of experience. The decor isn’t anything to be impressed by but still looks nice and comfortable. You get decent portions of your food for the price. It’s a bit heavy on the wallet but for good reason because their food is top quality.

Very slow service. Only one cook but they kept taking reservations. Attractive, cozy atmosphere with central fire pit. Lots of gardens and art. Unfortunately, food is not up to the atmosphere. Bland across several dishes.

The darkness took away from the ambiance. The lasagna was good but my seafood fettuccine lacked flavor. The bread was good.. We went in for Cioppino which was not offered and no Linguini with clams on the menu. Google menu did not match. A PNW Italian restaurant should have more seafood choices in my opinion.

I feel like I need to preface this review with the fact that I don’t normally leave reviews…but this particular visit warranted a stellar review!!! We visited on a Friday night, typical dinner time. Every single restaurant in Eugene is always beyond packed on the weekend, especially for dinner. Mazzi’s was no exception to that. We had a reservation which made our wait lesser, although we still waited for about 20 minutes past our time. I had zero issues with that though. The food was worth it, the staff was worth it, I’m so glad we finally made the visit to this place!!! Hannah, you are AMAZING! Girl, keep smiling and being you! You absolutely made our night! You deserve a raise ;) to the rest of the staff, I know it’s rough right now working in an industry where your customers are kinda cranky, but just keep being yourselves! Each and every one of you was warm and welcoming tonight. Thanks for making our night out perfect!

The food was delicious! Our party started with calamari and then for the meal had the short ribs, calzone, and spaghetti with a $6 meatball. Everyone was happy with the meal. Calamari was great, probably the best I've had in a long time. The sides were well seasoned and well cooked. Cocktails and wine were good, loved the margarita in particular.

We have moved away from our hometown of Eugene and hadn't been to Mazzi's in a decade or so. We were nervous it wasn't going to be the same as we remembered but it was even better than we remembered!!! We love that they still take reservations and our server Liam was great! Mazzi's is such a gem and definitely made us feel like we were back home again.

We got sat down reasonably quick service took forever fresh even just to get a glass of water let alone are order taken. The food actually was really good and the presentation was really good. It took quite a while before and we actually had to ask to get our check and ask to get boxes because no one came around to see if we needed anything. The atmosphere was pleasant but very loud.

Wife and I both ordered the salmon. It is one of the only items on the menu that is not pizza or pasta. It was excellent. Rarely do we eat something at a restaurant that is so much better than we could make at home. The atmosphere was really nice and the service was good. The meal was quite expensive, but worth it.

The calzone was great, the sauce being the star of the dish. The raviolis filling were much to be desired as they were lacking. The pesto on the ravioli while good, not the traditional tasting pesto I was expecting.

I’m at the age where I remember going to Mazzi’s with friends of mine from the grad dorms at the University of Oregon. We made it a point to go there at least once a month. The place was great then, and I was pleased to see when I came back that it was still great. It’s food is underrated, in my opinion, especially as compared to a new restaurant nearby, Café Med. I think they’re equally good. Whenever friends of mine from out of town from that graduate school group come here, we always go to Mazzi’s and are always satisfied. The only problem I have with the restaurant is that the bartenders do not know how to make classic cocktails, such as old —fashioneds, and that the wait staffers, being Generation Z, usually don’t even know what we are talking about when we order such drinks. As I said to our server last year after I was presented with a glass full of straight bourbon after I had ordered an old-fashioned, why can’t the restaurant invest a little bit of money in a guidebook for bartenders explaining how to make classic cocktails? That’s my only nit of a complaint. Five stars, overall, just as it was 45 years ago-yep, that long ago!

Liam, our server was good. Calamari was the of one of the best that I have ever eaten. It really melts in your mouth. It's usually rubbery or chewy in many places that I have visited. Parmesson Eggplant and Chicken Pesto, both pasta was overcooked, but guess that is how some establishment does to suit local taste buds. Tiramisu was the best among the 3.

Just had another great dinner at Mazzi’s. As a picky GF eater, this is my go to spot for good gluten free pasta, pizza and amazing Italian wines! The atmosphere is wonderful and the waitstaff are really great! Make a reservation!!!

We had an excellent dinner here. The restaurant itself is beautiful and cozy. The complimentary rolls are great. And the food was very good! Even though it’s a little pricey, the portions are large, so you can take the leftovers home for the next night.

Wow. Amazing, large portioned lasagna! My friend had the chicken marsala. Our hostess seemed a bit too young and not very knowledgeable. However, she made up for it with charm and politeness. Ask to sit by a fireplace on a cold evening! They even have outdoor seating for hot days.

We made a reservation a couple of hours before dinner, and it went through without issues. We ended up arriving 10 minutes early, and were seated right away. We were very happy with the service; we certainly did not feel like we had been forgotten, and did not have to wait any more than in a typical restaurant. Our server was polite, positive, and attentive. I had the ravioli with mushroom alfredo sauce and shrimp, which was delicious. The portion size was perfect for me. My husband had the cannelloni, which was packed with chicken and tasty, although he thought the portion size could have been a bit bigger. Both of us had the panna cotta with berry compote, which was a delightful dessert. We also enjoyed the restaurant décor, and the vase of real flowers on the table.

Cool slightly hidden Italian restaurant. Service was very welcoming and drinks were poured well. We will definitely be going back.

I'm an out-of-state visitor so this was a very nice local restaurant to visit. Food was very good and made us feel valued as a customer. Had to wait on a few drink refills but probably due to us being a large group placed in a separate room. Other than that servers were very professional and polite.

I guess a Caesar salad is just romaine lettuce? We ordered two Caesar salads (one small and one large) and garlic bread. The Caesar salads were just romaine lettuce with no parmesan or croutons, while I normally wouldn’t care we spent $41 on this meal. To top it off, the lettuce was wilted and the dressing was runny. The garlic bread was good and that was the only saving grace of my order.

The wait was forever, the place had zero order in terms of how things were being coordinated. My soup was legit potato water, my food wasn’t much better but luckily my allergies were in full swing and my taste buds were worthless so I managed to eat it (didn’t wanna drag the stuff home w me). That place used to be amazing but that is not the present situation

Went here as a family in late 70's and 80's quite a bit. Absolutely love it and go eat there every time I return to Oregon from California. Church pews in the waiting area and the stained glass to me make the place. Calzone is the best ever ❤

Disappointing. Arrived at 6:40 for a 6:45 reservation that somehow did not make it into the book (might've been my fault). They were very busy but managed to seat us at 7. The server was right there, and we ordered by 7:15. We finally got our meals at 9:03. At least two other parties that were seated after us were served, paid their bills, and left before our food even arrived. My entree was decent, my wife's was okay at best. Her chicken was dry and burnt, the sauce tasted like it was from a jar. The salad was excellent. The server (I think her name was Danielle) was great, and is the reason for the second star. She was professional, kept her sense of humor, and tried her best to accommodate us. I remember when Mazzi's opened. I ate there growing up, and often throughout my times in Eugene. This was not the quality Mazzi's is known for.

Great local Italian restaurant! Not one of my best pictures. But try this place out for yourself and let me know your thoughts.

Been coming to Mazzi's for years and they great. Myself being a New York transplant, it is special finding an authentic American Italian place that has great scratch recipes close to what I grew up with. The owner is truly Italian with great dishes.
