Sushi in Eugene. Maybe? Sure why not. Glad I gave it a try. WOW!!! I travel a lot. I eat a lot and I used to be a professional cook so I can be a restaurants worst nightmare. Sushi Pure is a diamond in the rough. Quite literally in the top 5 best places I've had Sushi ever. That includes 10 different locations in Japan. Cut to the chase. The sushi is top notch, high grade and you won't be disappointed! The restaurant is clean.that staff is friendly and professional. It feels like a quaint comfortable restaurant and not stuffy or elitist, (for this level of quality, they could and be justified). Great experience. Great food. Will definitely be back when I'm in town. If you're a local or passing through town, add Sushi Pure to you're list.

Our favorite sushi spot in Eugene, hands down!! Tak is an incredible sushi chef. Cocktails are amazing. Staff is wonderful. Atmosphere is great. Downstairs in the bar area feels like an old schmoozey jazz club, in the best way.

I would like to start with saying how prompt the front end was with seating us(table for 2) at 7pm on a Friday night! Along with the ambience I give a big 2 thumbs up. However, that’s where the praise stops. Reading reviews praising the “purple rice” and the “ Best Sushi I have ever had” led us to pick pure. It seems the purple rice is a gimmick to lure people in and an excuse to inflate the price. The rice as expected was typical rice, although the texture was lackluster. We ordered the firecracker and the Victoria rolls. For not being starving, I would have sent both back! The sauce with the Victoria roll was reminiscent of a very basic spicy mayonnaise (not sure if that was the intentions at all), the roll was all rice and filler with very little actual fish on top( if you call that fish)! The firecracker was the even worse. I will typically eat it not to waste food however, this wasn’t something I would feed the homeless! Saving grace was the pan fried noodles w/h chicken. Very tasty, good sauce, ratio of ingredients was spot on and was enough for 2. Coming from AZ, a 4.5 star rating from 514 reviews, it being so close to the coast had my expectations very high. Overall bang for your buck and taste left me very disappointed.

Absolutely amazing restaurant. I loved their mission statement about the focus on health and nourishment. We were seated downstairs close to the aquariums, ordered appetizers and 5 rolls. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. 10/10 will eat there again (and I don't really like sushi)

This is a review seven years later, as we're back in Eugene for a visit. The location of Sushi Pure has changed but the food is still as good as we remembered. I really like that they use a different rice than other restaurants. The food is delicious and the service is friendly and attentive. This was on our short day to visit on this trip back to Eugene because we had such fond memories of it, and it didn't disappoint. Still love this place!

Sushi Pure is hands down the best Japanese restaurant in town! I've been a sushi enthusiast since I was 6 years old, and I've even owned and operated my own restaurant for over a decade. Their tuna and fresh fish are top-notch, and I can't get enough of their Colosseum and Oregon Dragon rolls. When I'm looking for something extra special, I always go for the Chef's omakase, a fantastic culinary adventure. Sushi Pure is truly a culinary gem! JC

Very cozy place, nice ambiance. Small wait time during dinner time. Sushi was excellent, and the purple rice was surprisingly good.

I love this place! It's very cozy and modern. The sushi is made with purple rice, it's so beautiful. The green tea is delicious, not bitter at all. Their menu is extensive and has everything from bento and teriyaki to sushi and miso. The price point is moderate, as should be expected from a restaurant that serves sushi. I can't wait to go again!

Look no further, you have found the best sushi spot in Eugene. Absolutely mind blowing sushi and not wildly overpriced. The otoro (marbled tuna) nigiri was super delicious.

Waitress said since they were busy (Thursday night) they couldn’t accommodate to a food allergy. Pretty wild considering the size of their gluten-free and Vegan menu…. Odd space, five separate groups waited 10 minutes before we saw someone to seat us. We probably should have tried Akira which seems to be a more intimate setting. Food was a solid 2-3. My wife’s beef teriyaki was bland and chewy, the teriyaki sauce was most likely prepackaged. The eel was chewy and it wasn’t deboned well. I understand there are fine bones occasionally in a freshwater eel filet but this was excessive. The roll I had with scallops was buried in spicy mayo plops. We wouldn’t recommend anything we tried.

Worth every penny. The hostess could be kinder and more patient.

Great food and great service. This is one of those places where you always know you’re going to have a good meal. I highly recommend any of their rolls and cocktails. They also have a really good miso soup to get you started. A little pricey but it’s still a charming sushi spot nonetheless.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We liked the food, but some of the rolls had too much mayonnaise or mayonnaise mix. Service was amazing, and the price was fair for what you get. The atmosphere could be updated, but overall, we really enjoyed this restaurant

This place has really changed since I went a few years ago. The menu is huge, yet few options and no high quality options. I think they’re trying to do too many things into one place, when they used to have a focus on sushi well done. Would recommend going somewhere less expensive for better sushi, unfortunately.

Food was excellent. Miso soup arrived piping hot. Service was excellent. It has been many years since we visited Eugene and Sushi PURE. This restaurant is still top notch.

I am a bit of a Japanese food snob but all things considered, Sushi PURE is pretty good. Frederico did a fine job behind the sushi bar. You can tell he's been at this for many years. Sushi PURE is using a purple rice. That plus preparation technique of the rice results in a non-traditional product. That is important in that it helps set expectations. They are respecting tradition but also doing their own thing.

Was on a quest for a unique sushi experience in Eugene and landed here. Had a great experience! The food was amazing and the restaurant offers several atmosphere options: traditional dining in a larger room, private dining in small secluded rooms, and of course the countertop in-front-of-the-sushi-chef option. We will be back!

I've lived all over the country and this is genuinely one of, if not THE, best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. It's also my favorite restaurant in Eugene. I'm a regular here and always looking to come back. The fish is so fresh and their unique dishes are so delicious! I recommend the 5th Avenue.

It was such a cute place. I'd say hole-in- the-wall because if you're not looking for it, you'll miss it. Food was super good. Especially the Angel roll. I could eat so much of it. I gave a 4 star on food because there was a dish on the chef's choice (unfortunately I can't remember the name but it's in the round dish that doesn't have the orange on top) that I didn't care for because there was unexpected Wasabi between the rice and seafood. I found it to ruin that dish because I don't like wasabi, but that's a personal preference. I'm sure for people who like it, would very much enjoy it. Atmosphere was nice. The downstairs has a more intimate vibe for personal gatherings like birthdays or whatnot. Overall, I'll definitely be coming back.

Loved the vibe and everything about this restaurant. Quality seemed quite good and my mother enjoyed her food thoroughly. I, however was very thrown off by the taste of the purple rice and had to send my roll back. I could see how some people might really enjoy this flavor but it wasn't for me. It would have been nice to be warned about before ordering such an expensive roll. Fortunately, they were very accommodating and removed the roll from the bill without blinking an eye just felt bad wasting the food.

Sushi Pure has been my go to sushi place in Eugene for years. I think that they consistently have excellent fish which in very important to me since nigiri is my preferred style. Their rolls and other offerings are also quite good. The atmosphere is very nice. Service is generally very good, although they can at times be stretched a little thin. (these days that seems to a problem everywhere....)

This restaurant was everything I had been wanting when it comes to beautiful fresh fish prepared by a seasoned chef. The Marbled Tuna was absolutely incredible. It was reminiscent of butter and just melts in the mouth. The salmon nigiri had a very soft and fresh texture, and I even ordered Uni, which I don’t normally enjoy very much but it was also delicious. A wonderful experience!

This place resembles an old speak easy. The setup is absolutely gorgeous. The sushi here is amazing. This was our second time here and we will keep coming back. The staff is also very friendly.

Jumping between this place and Makoto both of these mentioned places are undeniably at the top of the sushi game when it comes to sushi it Eugene. The Dream roll wont lie to you here with real lobster its a memorizing melt in your mouth sushi, truly is a gift to this county.

The restaurant’s establishment was very well put together and had a nice calming aspect to it which set the tone. The food was served extremely quick while also good quality. Got the bento box with spicy chicken and I enjoyed it along with their staff that are friendly and on it if you need anything. Beautiful interior, and will be planning on going back again. Best sushi place in Eugene hands down, I highly suggest!!

Some of the best sushi and bento plates I've had, would absolutely cover back. Sake was also good!

The BEST sushi in Eugene! They have amazing vegetarian and vegan options which are all delicious. The rolls are delicious, the tempura is delicious, the yakisoba is delicious. My friends and I all love this place! And they use organic greens in their salad which is so awesome.

Great place for sushi and the portion sizes are great. Kids bento boxes were excellent. Their wasabi was good and not store bought horseradish. Their O-Toro sashimi was excellent and melt in your mouth. I didn’t expect much with takeout but we were pleasantly surprised…
