This is the first time I've been to a restaurant where every single bite was delicious with authentic, hand crafted flavor. The rice felt like a dish on its own with how flavorful it was, same with the beans, the salsa, the doughy house made tortillas. The chips came out hot. If you live in Eugene, you HAVE to give this place a try. It is "pricier" but you get what you pay for and we walked out happy and full. Some tips: Chips are an appetizer item, but once you order, chips are all you can eat. If you want extra rounds of salsa, you need to pay. Certain entree items come with the different salsas though! Restaurant is small, probably not ideal for large groups (there is a surcharge for parties 7 or greater I believe). We ended up waiting about an hour to be seated for a party of 3, but we felt it was worth the wait. Parking lot is small too. EDIT: We are still talking about last night's meal and discussing what other menu items (aguas frescas, the flan) we want to try next time. That's how good it was.

Phenomenal food and excellent service. Hands down best Mexican food in Eugene. I read some of the negative reviews on Google after eating there, I was surprised. I’d recommend those one start reviewers stick with tacos from Jack in the Box for their version of Mexican food. For those wanting authentic handmade cuisine in Eugene, this is your spot :)

Authentic! Cute and clean! You could close your eyes and randomly pick anything on the menu and it will exceed expectations. I wish they cooked with a bit more spice, but I understand not everyone likes their food spicy

While visiting Eugene, my husband and I chose 1960 Cocina. It was a great dinner. We both had the Pollo Asado. Grilled chicken served with a lime crema sauce, rice, beans, guacamole & corn tortillas. It was superb. Flavorful chicken, delicious sauce, tasty sides. Service was friendly and attentive. Lovely atmosphere and decor. We loved it. Food service was quick. Highly recommend.

In my opinion, this is by far the best Mexican restaurant in town. They are using meat from Long's, spices from Mountain Rose Herbs, fresh made tortillas, and just have very high quality throughout. This is upscale Mexican done right! Family owned and run, great people. Highly recommend!

1960 Cocina was a lovely restaurant that I can enthusiastically recommend. The food was fresh and beautifully prepared, including meat from Long's Market. The salsa verde was zesty and well-balanced, with the brightness you would expect from a salsa verde and a smooth, velvety texture. Both of us ordered tacos and gorditas, which clearly were made from scratch (our server/host confirmed that they were). Speaking of our server, he mentioned that he and his family own the restaurant, and that all the food is made according to their family recipes. Furthermore, our server was really kind and warm, and it was clear that he took quiet pride in being able to serve his family's beautiful food. All in all, it was a memorable meal, and we will definitely be back.

While in Eugene we found this cute, upscale Mexican restaurant. The menu is limited but every dish was authentic. I had the green chicken enchiladas. Baked in a small casserole the tomatilla green chili sauce was flavorful and paired perfectly with the shredded chicken rolled in a homemade tortilla. My partner ordered the beef tri-tips, the red sauce was spicy and he scooped every bit with side tortillas. The restaurant is 1 small room so it can get noisy. The room was decorated tastefully and we enjoyed ourselves.

A very cozy Mexican restaurant. The food was all great and the drinks were strong. We really liked the homemade salsas. I recommend trying the tacos my favorites were the shrimp and also the asada. For a starter the crunchy potato tacos are perfection.

I was very disappointed. I first ate here before the pandemic and service and food were wonderful. I returned a few days ago and should have suspected things were no longer as great. My first hint was the place was empty at dinner time and my second clue should have been that prices rose a lot. Probably because of the lack of customers. Their menu was changed, service was very slow and the food was not much better than a local and lousy taco stand. I will not come back. Amazing that they went from having the best and most authentic Mexican food in town to joining the bottom 5 places no one looks forward to sitting and eating dinner at.

We had a great meal here on a Friday. We didn't have a reservation and waited maybe 10 minutes for a table. This truly is a family restaurant, they do everything here! The pace of the service is perfectly slowish perhaps - but that seemed right on point with the time it must take to prepare these homemade dishes. If you are in a rush this place may not be the place for you, but if you would like to experience some Mexican food that is beyond authentic then you will not be disappointed. Dessert note: Probably the best Flan I ever had!

Hands down best Mexican food in town. My husband and I have been ordering take out from them for a long time, and finally decided to go eat at the restaurant. Felt like we were eating at someone’s home. So personal and such a homey feeling inside. They did a great job with the ambiance. Such a chill place to go eat at. Delicious food and drinks. The service was on point and very attentive. By far my fav spot. I crave their potato tacos called the Mini Crunch. And when the Elote is in season. Yummmmmm. Love 1960!

I absolutely LOVE this place. I've been many times in all the years they've been open and have never been disappointed pre or post pandemic. Yes, their prices went up but that's our economy. I don't know of any other Mexican restaurant in town using LOCAL SMALL FARM MEAT! That's what makes this place stand out. I have never felt that the meal wasn't worth the price and I've always left stuffed or with leftovers. And the flavors!! Their food is amazing. I never eat beans but theirs are so perfectly lightly smokey? I don't know, but I love them. They make their corn tortillas by hand to order?!? They smell like fresh ground corn on a masa stone. They're amazing. I've loved all the meat entrees and my girlfriend just had their shrimp and we both immediately commented on how untypically large the portion was. This place is a must visit for authentic and ethical Mexican food!

Ordered the chips and salsa, house margaritas, chicken enchiladas, and tacos. Everything was excellent. Service was great. Wife’s only complaint was that the place could have been darker for being a little on the fancy side.

Food was bland. Not sure how they have the highest rated Mexican restaurant in Eugene, because it was far from good. Portions were small too. I ordered the Chile relleno dish, and an extra taco and was still hungry. You have to pay $7 for a tiny bowl of salsa too if you want it, and they didn't even serve it with chips. I wouldn't go back.

Honest opinion is this; its better to have quality food than food that looks pretty, its clear they have spent the time to make food look good but the time should have been spent creating quality dishes. An interesting restaurant to walk into. Seems like an attempt at a new era look/vibe. The restaurant is clean though its attempt at being fancy is apparent. Music was loud and service was slow. Food proportions were great in my opinion its just too bad the food turned out to be a bummer. Chicken was very dry and bland leaving the flautas very undesirable. The cheese enchiladas again unfortunately very bland. Beans and rice are very good though.

We had dinner with our friends. The menu is simple but with great selections. From starters, tacos, entrees and desserts. Don’t forget to ask for the drink for today. We ordered two small starters and each of us got tacos. I particularly recommended the adobaba.
