The interior of the restaurant is creatively utilitarian with an eclectic mixture of Thai-themed artwork set against stark tile floors and easy-to-clean tabletops. The diverse menu however, is a thing of beauty. It boasts a large assortment of house specialties that I've never seen before, but can't wait to try. The food and appetizers we ordered were AMAZING! The authentic Thai flavors were complex, rich and decadent. The red and green curries were outstanding. Our server was friendly and attentive. Great experience. Can't wait to go back.

Wonderful food, nice when you don't have to cook. Interesting the consistency of the food is much better than the TaRaRin locations, even though owned by same family. I always get their Khao Soi noodles. We also got Larb and a Thai tea. Their portion sizes seem larger than the other Thai restaurants in town, I have enough food for lunch tomorrow. True medium spicy, their larb was sufficiently seasoned with the right amount of lime; bursting with flavor. The server was friendly, we got seated right away. Smaller parking lot, but definitely good parking considering the neighborhood. I was so full I did not get dessert. Sadly they were out of mango, but it's not really much in season right now anyway. And I was too full to eat it anyway. Happy dinner.

We stopped in at Chao Pra Ya today for the 1st time for a late lunch and had a very pleasant surprise! Even at 2:30, there were still 6 full tables and Eli who was the only server at the time did an amazing job in managing our expectations! He was friendly, very professional, attentive and inquired on our Thai selections and satisfaction. I had the Red curry with mango, squid & chicken in a coconut basil curry. The curry was fabulous, as it was deliciously aromatic, mangos ripe and sweet, which complimented the coconut red curry. The squid and chicken was subtle and not over cooked! My wife had a seafood combination with scallops, mussels, shrimp, chicken and a variety of fresh vegetables. And this too was a symphony for the senses! We finished off with the black chewy rice topped off with mango & coconut cream! We plan on going back to sample their other specialties, hopefully, soon. These delicious Thai dishes were made even more amazing with Eli's service! Kudos Eli! Highly recommended!

Best Thai food in Eugene. I ordered Thai noodle soup an wow this soup had a sweet spicy flavor to die for. There is one caveat. I like Spicy and usually ask for Thai-hot but I found this restaurant takes spicy to another higher level. Best to order mild with spicy on the side. Taste your dish first before adding anymore spice.

An excellent dining experience <3 the servers were attentive, positive and helpful, but not over-bearing; the food was delicious! I love peanut dishes and got the peanut lover dish - simply awesome. The peanut sauce was organic and very flavorful, the veggies fresh and crisp. My sweetie had panang curry and he loved it. He got heat level Very Hot, which is the 2nd hottest level they offer. He likes his curry very spicy and was not disappointed. This is a little hidden treasure in our neighborhood, and we're looking forward to returning soon :)

This. 👏Is. 👏The.👏 Best.👏 Everything was amazing. I came there craving Tum Kha, and I left so satisfied. I wanted to snuggle up in that soup it was so good. Amazing crispy golden fried tofu, Real Pot Stickers, & Spring Rolls. 100/10 best spot in town. This is now our #1 spot for Thai .

If you've had authentic Thai food before skip this place you're going to be disappointed. No chopsticks or traditional Thai condiments on the table should have been a red flag to leave. Masking lack of flavor with absurd heat and serving raw chicken with over cooked broken rice noodles sums this place up. Much better Thai food trucks and restaurants around town, spend your money there instead.

My boyfriend and I went here for a lunch date, and arrived about 2 minutes after they opened. Our waitress Casey was awesome and sat us as soon as possible. The food and drinks we got were wonderful and full of flavor, and we were well taken care of. I got a strawberry Boba mimosa and it was super fun to drink! We got a sampler plate of appetizers, and it had this coconut curry chicken skewers that were so good. We definitely plan to come back again.

Have had a fantastic dinner twice now. They were exceptional about helping me navigate the menu and find things I can eat with my Dairy Allergy. Conor was the best waiter we've ever had, even at super fancy places at the coast.

Lived in Eugene for 25 years. First time at this lovely place. Came at opening for lunch. Server was kind and attentive. Food was authentic and delicious. I have spent some time in Thailand and I think this is closest to Thailand-in-Eugene as you will find! Will definitely make it a regular restaurant! Thanks for a great experience!

I came here looking for good Thai food and I was not disappointed. I took a bite of all 6 plates at the table and when I thought the dishes couldn’t get better, they did. Our server Eli was very knowledgeable of the menu and patient while helping us decide on our orders. If you are contemplating coming here…contemplate no longer and go to Chao Pra Ya.

Great food. Although I didnt catch our servers name, she was awesome! Its been a long time since we've had such an attentive server. The cook took my husband seriously when he asked for his food to be Thai hot and he was not disappointed.

I ordered a stir fry to go order, they didn’t include any rice with my order. The chicken that is with the vegetables taste old. It taste like I made the chicken to meal prep & it had been left in the fridge for three days. I ordered almost an hour before closing, really disappointed at the lack of attention to the order.

Decent food, not the best service. Tried calling in a order twice this week and both times they didn't answer and after a few attempts of calling, I got a busy tone. As someone who lives outside the delivery area, its a bit upsetting. Been craving curry. Let me know if you have some recommendations on somewhere that actually answers their phones. 🙃

Wanted Thai Spicy Basil Rice with the Ground Chicken , but this is what they make , Kao Pad Ga Prau with Sliced Chicken . It was good for reasonable price , but not Archi's Thai Kitchen in Las Vegas ! Nice clean place . Mostly takeout in Eugene due to the Covid restrictions . I was in town visiting my son and this was walking distance from my hotel . Also the Apple Grocery store across the street , the cashier said a lot of people like it .

The place for Thai food in Eugene. And the Thai spicy is Thai spicy. All around good place to go. It gets very busy, so be prepared to search for parking and wait for a table, but it's worth it.

Local Thai restaurant with exceptional service. Since coming here to dine in, there has been one server working the entire front of house — and doing it well. My favorite dish is the Pad King with chicken - it’s loaded with fresh ginger and the spice levels here are for real. Extra hot is truly extra hot! I highly recommend checking this place out. Beer on tap, hot sake, etc.

I've been here several times and always had excellent service and food, but tonight when I was a bit down and out and showed up near close they took care of me. Food was perfect, hot, and service was professional. I really appreciated it.

Absolutely fabulous Eggplant Garden with Shrimp! Yummy!

  • 5/5 Dan 8 months ago on Google
Short version: Great service and food! We recommend the green curry and eggplant garden. We were traveling on a road trip and stopped by Eugene to eat before it got too late to eat at our destination. We made a reservation for our larger party and they were very responsive and communicative about the closing time and how they didn’t want us to have a rushed experience. They were still willing to take us and we were able to order ahead of time on the phone. We were able to get the food promptly when we arrived and our server was very attentive in making sure we got whatever we needed. Food was great and the portion sizes were plentiful. We especially loved the green curry and eggplant garden. I would have posted photos if I could but our group was quite hungry. Honestly the service and care here was much better than many many restaurants I have been throughout my travels and I have been traveling a lot! I hope Chao Pra Ya continues to thrive and we’ll be sure to visit again when we can when we are in the area!

Portions are very large. Food was spiced as ordered & tasty. Service was excellent. My overall rating is 3 stars because the Pad Thai was mostly noodles. They could add more tofu and a lot more vegetables - there was some broccoli. Doubtful I'll return - I'd rather pay half & get half the huge portion.

Their Pad Kea Mao is my absolute favorite, love their bubble tea but the bubbles get stuck in the straw lol. Appetizers are on point we had the Shrimp Rangoon and chicken potstickers. Their customer service was courteous and nice. Forgot to take pics of the main meal because I was so hungry lol.

Chao Pra Ya makes my favorite Pork Pad Thai, and you choose the heat level. I always order a side of Warm Peanut Sauce for the Pad Thai. The Chicken Wings are very juicy and perfectly spiced. The Beef Mussaman Curry has Potatoes, Carrots, Onions, and Peanuts and this dish is spectacular. The Crab Rangoon is a beautiful delicious bite that is a Fried Wonton stuffed with Imitation Crab Meat, Cream Cheese, Bell Pepper, Onions, Celery, and Water Chestnuts. The Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce makes it even better. The food is fantastic and the service is amazingly fast.

This is our favorite Thai restaurant and the service has always been excellent! But today was different. My mom had complained about how our soup was missing many ingredients and not tasting like the usual Tom Yum soup. That’s when we were made aware that they have new people being trained in the kitchen and that the manager was not the one who made our food today. Which is fine, we’re completely understanding that there are trainees in the kitchen. The problem was AFTER the waitress went back to the chef to report the feedback , all we could hear is loud obnoxious laughing and talking in their language. My mother said she saw the chef peek over the counter at us ( we were the last ones in the restaurant) and then go back to laughing out loud.. it was honestly really hurtful to see that behavior as we eat here often and we NEVER had any issues with the chefs and staffs like this before, As the staffs have always been so wonderful. But besides today, We’ve always loved eating here and the staff is so friendly and food was always so delicious. We are hoping that if we do come back next time, this won’t happen again all because we complained about the food not tasting the way it usually does.

Good help is hard to find during a pandemic and it shows at Chao Pra Ya. The server who helped us was sub par; lack of training maybe? Did not know the menu, forgot items on our order, towards the end of meal he whisked our drink away before it was even finished. Service was clumsy and inefficient. Not the best location, the restaurant is situated behind a gas station in close proximity to neighborhood homeless activity. Parking is very tight as well. During our meal a homeless woman wandered into the place, stood in the middle of the dining room rubbing her very pregnant belly while staring at the customers muttering unintelligibly. All the while, loud rap music blared overhead. I've been to this restaurant many times. I don't continue to visit for the service or the atmosphere. I keep coming back because the food is good and consistent. I will be back, likely soon. If you like Thai food, don't overlook this place, it's a gem despite it's shortcomings.
