The staff at this hostel went out of their way to be helpful. I can't say I made it easy for them - my plans changed a few times and I forgot to move rooms as agreed on last night of my stay because of the changes I had made! They supported me with re-booking and moved my stuff into the other room as I was out of town when I was supposed to be doing it, and were very kind and professional about it as well. The hostel itself is beautifully maintained, peaceful, affordable and in a great part of town with Amtrak and great eats at New Day Bakery and Morning Glory Cafe just up the road. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone visiting Eugene.

I visited my friend in Eugene and stayed at the hostel. Immediately when I arrived I felt comfortable. The way they set up the common room and outdoor area makes it a fun, relaxing place to hang out. There's also a free breakfast with nutella+toast and eggs, plus a kitchen stocked with tons of cast iron things and everything else you'd need to cook stuff. They also have washers and dryers... having travelled to many hostels around the world this was one of the most well-equipped ones I've been to. Plus the staff and guests were all fun to talk to. Definitely suggest if you're heading to Eugene.

A wonderful, welcoming, and connecting place. We were given a safe place to park our motorcycle and a clean, inviting, private room with bath and fresh towels. Staff and other residents were friendly and interesting. The vibrant decor, rich with colors and creativity was the perfect atmosphere to relax and connect. Off the generous kitchen area was the music room adorned with guitars, mandolin, banjo, bongos and bass for jamming and we did. morning and evening. there was a market close by for all our gastronomical needs and downtown was in walking distance. Wish we could have stayed for the potluck the following day. Mike and Harris and all the staff and fellow boarders were great! It was the highlight of our trip. Thanks to all!

Stayed 1 night while paasing through Eugene. First hostel experience. It was good! The ecclectic look and feel of the houses, the amazing book collection, the assortment of board and card games, and the large open areas and open seating on the deck... all good! Checkin/out were easy, and the room and space were clean enough. Location seemed a little sketch with the characters wandering the neighborhood, but not unsafe (I removed stuff from my car for overnight to be safe). Also, Google was a little misleading and I had to use the address instead of the name to get the correct driving directions. Trains run overnight nearby, and can be heard through windows so I was tossing and turning a bit (light sleeper) but not a dealbreaker. I will come back to stay again next time I'm passing through.

The location was great, close to the highway with a great Japanese fusion restaurant around the corner. Art and eclecticism all over the local neighborhood. The girl who checked us in was pleasant even though we arrived 10 minutes before closing exhausted from a long drive. Bed was comfortable and I loved the song of the train passing through the night.

I had a wonderful experience, the staff was great, rooms, bathrooms, and common areas all clean. It has an adorable charm to it and lots of cool areas to hang out or get some work done. It’s also walking distance to some cool bars and restaurants. I really enjoyed the lodge and the neighborhood. Thank you guys!!!

A great experience all around! A unique vibe of craft and local culture permeate the hostel to really give you a sense of the town your in. lots of shared spaces that are all very well stocked for their function as well as being clean an inviting to make yourself at home. Would most definitely recommend.

I booked the dorm rooms not knowing that this house was where most of the employees where housed. Fairly loud & no space in the fridge, etc. So it felt like, as a paying guest, that this was more of an inconvenience! But for the younger crowd it is a great social environment! Now, considering I work remotely, the house across the street that has more expensive rooms feels more like an Airbnb! And is much quieter and peaceful! I should have booked one of those! Next time! Funky, cool, good vibe place, overall! Blessings everyone!

Staff was friendly & knowledgeable, rooms were comfortable, clean, and wonderfully decorated. A breath of fresh air from the usual sterile hotels I’ve stayed at in the past. Reading room/library was very impressive with its selection, bathrooms were clean, breakfast options were mid, but plenty of great food and entertainment locations all around within walking distance. I’ll definitely be back!

This is the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in! My reservation was done quick and painless through the company's website. On arrival I was greeted by Emily and Vanessa, and they are both rockstars!

Lovely place! It was my first time at a hostel and reception made me feel super comfortable and welcome. The common areas felt cozy and like somewhere you could genuinely relax. No AC in the upstairs rooms but we had a fan that was more than enough for me, even in the middle of July. Only stayed one night but would stay more!

What a treat to stay at this hostel. I had a private room in the Tree House, which literally has a huge tree integrated into the front porch, providing a beautiful shady place to sit, write, reflect, play music, eat lunch, enjoy life. The Bloom Room has a small AC unit and the bed is super comfy. I had 2 trips to Eugene this summer and wouldn't stay anywhere else! So nice, I stayed there twice :) I tend to be a pretty shy person, but I had some really interesting and wonderful conversations here and loved meeting the people who work here and make it so special. Another great thing is the Red Barn grocery and cafe is within walking distance as are many other excellent restaurants and bars, it's close to the Eugene Amtrak station, and it's also within walking distance of a Eugene bike share docking station. One suggestion I would make is to think about facilities for people like myself who are coming through town by bike. Many people told me that bike theft is a huge problem in Eugene, so having a bike rack in the back yard is not sufficiently secure. Would it be possible to build or buy a small enclosed shed where someone could store a bike, or (even better) have a small section of the common room where someone could lock up their bike? Bicycling is earth friendly, I would strongly encourage thinking about ways to support travelers who want to have less of a negative impact on climate change. Hosteling and bike touring go great together :)

People working there: friendly, fast genuine and fun. Rooms: clean, cool, privacy curtains spacious Common area: a big big garden with different games to play and inside big and comfy as well. They even have a projector where you can watch movies together. This hostel is probably the most well decorated and furnished hostel ever. Maybe if they could add lockers it would be complete. But overall it felt very safe! Breakfast is also really good! Well equipped kitchen. Recommended

A lovely, friendly hostel in a tradition from another time. (Think 1980s Berkeley.) Great staff, amazing music room and a wine bar on the corner. This is the go-to place in Eugene. Beats an expensive hotel chain any day!

I absolutely loved this cozy space. Go! It feels just like home. Thank goodness you were there to be a safe place to land.

The Eugene Hostel is an eclectic, cozy and welcoming space in a great neighbourhood. If you are looking for hotel-like accommodations, look somewhere else. But if you want a laid-back and interesting place to stay in a central and fun area, this is the place. Its in an old house so it has its quirks but there's a kitchen, lounge, backyard, and DIY breakfast in the morning.

At first, check in was unsettling. I am not used to checking in to a hostel when no one is at the desk. Had to wait a while before someone showed up. But once he did, check in went well. It was nice to have a tour of the place. Lots of activities available and a great outdoor area. Beds were typical metal bunk beds, but the lower bunks had very little headroom, so there was no place to sit. Loved the cubby in the wall. Lots of room to store things. Liked having an en suite bath. Beware, this hostel does not take cash or AmEx. There are trains nearby, which you can hear all night... we were there on a weekend, so basically got free music from local bands there were playing nearby. Parking is very limited if you get in later in the day. The only complaint we had was with a worker who continually left our door open as she went through our room to get to hers, even after being asked to keep it closed and locked.

Nicely decorated private room with a comfortable enough bed, good lighting, sufficient heat. Fun decor. Clean bathroom. Lots of staff around, and able to make myself a great free breakfast (pancakes and omelette) and cook a dinner. Was able to get load of laundry washed dried and folded at a very reasonable price. The steps up and through the building are a little tricky but safe enough if you are alert. My one issue was noise in the middle of the, building doesn't have good sound insulation and there was a noisy "guest" next door at 3 in the morning, and sound came through from the hallway and outside.

The Eugene International Lodge and Hostel is one of my favorite places in Oregon. Wonderfully chill and calming with strong art scene vibes, I felt safe and inspired. I stayed in the dorms, they were both warm and clean. There were lockers so I could go out without worrying about my gear going missing. The bathrooms were cleaned daily. They clean on schedule here, 清楚 style. It is very clean. The staff are all friendly and professional, they have a little store where they sell essential things you need like toothbrushes and stuff. There are lots of books and games and a really nice kitchen/eating area with a good breakfast selection (like pancakes, yum). EMX stations not too far away so if you don’t have a car you can still get around Eugene/Springfield. I wish I could have stayed longer. Go check it out!

The bed was really comfortable! A rare find for a hostel. Was fairly empty when I visited, so I ended up in a room by myself. Bathroom was clean and there was laundry (free wash). Was fairly local and there was a few walkable places. Heads up: Near railroad tracks, so you actually hear the trains pass through.

I stayed at the Eugene Lodge and International Hostel for some time while I was exploring and then getting established here in town. My experience was outstanding. The space itself is lovely - warm and inviting. Walls are decorated floor to ceiling with interesting things to look at. There is a well equipped kitchen, one of the coziest living rooms I've had the pleasure of lounging in and ample space outside to roam and relax. What really makes this place shine is the staff. The people keeping Eugene Lodge and International Hostel running are truly stellar. Thank you all for being who you are. This is the first Google review I've written in my life. This place deserves it. With gratitude, Jesse

This is place has something magical going. It's a great place to stay and the location is convenient. You have bars and restaurants minutes away. The inside is amazing! Full of art and inspiration. Full of musical instruments you can play, games, huge movie setup, Full kitchen you can use to cook dinner or whatever you want. very knowledgeable and the friendliest staff I have ever met. These guys made me laugh and the conversations and memories are some to remember. Each and every one will greet you with a smile and make you feel at home but more importantly they make you feel like family. Thank you Eugene lodging and hostel. You guys rock!!! Sincerely, Salvador.

We loved the classy and chic updates Brenna has made recently! Definitely not your typical hotel and worth staying here at least once. Staff was extremely kind and helpful even going out of their way to offer some cool camping spots for while we were out here. 💜 Very grateful and will be back sometime!

So fun staying in my first hostel. I absolutely loved my stay and looking at all the memorabilia. The beds were more comfortable than most hotels! What a great option, hotels were difficult to find and pricey on this trip. I'll definitely be back.

As a work-trader who has been at this hostel since August, I can thoroughly say that this is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The rest of the staff and the owners are all incredible people who make me as a solo traveler feel safe and welcomed. I’m aware I could come off as being a bit biased, but if there’s one thing you should take from this review it’s this: if it’s a good place to work with incredibly nice and understanding owners, it’s a good place to stay. If you like hostels this is a gem, and if you’re looking for something friendlier and more inviting than a hotel, this is the place to be!

Best hostel I’ve stayed at in YEARS. Great location right in the Whit with a great atmosphere and people! I had the chance to meet the owners who were wonderful and very accommodating. Definitely give this place a stay over any other expensive experience-less hotel in Eugene.

This hostel is definitely not worth the price. Big disappointment. I stayed in a private room with a friend and the room was very small and had no charme. There was also hair in the bathroom sink. The breakfast was very very basic. Only toast bread and peanut butter. One toaster didn't work properly. There was a strange atmosphere in the hostel and some guests were coming back to the place drunk.

Had a great stay at this hostel. Mac was friendly and accommodating. The space was stylish and clean. The other guests were interesting to talk to and I was able to find quiet corners to get work done. This is an absolute gem lying in plain sight in Eugene. I’ll be staying here again when I pass through town

Howdy there, my name is Rex. It's nice to virtually meet you! 🤠 First let me say, that I am biased. I am one of the two owners of the Eugene Whitaker International Hostel (the second is my girlfriend). Instead of telling you about the amenities you we offer, I figure it would be more useful to you to use this review to tell you about the grand vision we have for this wonderful and wacky space. We do NOT want this to be a regular stay for you. NOT a place where you simply check in to rest your head and move on. We want you to have a grand EXPERIENCE that you remember for the rest of your life: one of making new friends from all around the world, sharing food around the fire, telling crazy stories, playing board games, watching scary movies on the projector, paddle boarding on the river, biking to the nearby arcade bars and getting a little too tipsy. Brenna and I invite you to join our diverse COMMUNITY for a night or two. Look up from your phone for a while and connect with your fellow man and woman. We believe that in this age of screens, that it is more important (and more fun) than ever to connect with the people around us. I hope to meet you in person at the hostel soon, Rex ☮️
