Had a great time, hopping around the river. Fly fishing only for those of you who wanna throw a line. Water was beautiful, over 30 waterfalls. Lots of interesting spots, but most of the secondary roads didn’t have parking. Be prepared to park when you find a spot and hike. Bring water and snacks.

We had an amazing camping experience at Glass Butte, a true natural treasure. The freedom to set up camp anywhere allowed us to find a remarkable spot under a beautiful tree. The breathtaking views, including a spectacular sunset and vibrant rainbows, left us in awe. Glass Butte is truly majestic. Its natural beauty is unparalleled, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable camping experience.

The terwilliger hot springs are the best go before 6 am to possibly have it to yourself like I did, it was so nice. But don't head out right away you never know who you'll meet there is always interesting people, I met this really nice couple we had a spiritual talk and next thing I kno I'm hanging out with them the rest of the day and went rafting together. I love when spontaneous things like that happen. It was so fun! Also the next time I went there was someone playing a Indian wooden flute it was so peaceful, he was excited to have me try too, it was cool to try. He also reminded me how sacred and healing the waters are

I've been to every corner of this Forest. It's my favorite place on the face of this planet. Rushing rivers, shady groves, and mushrooms, steamy hot spring adventures, and magical hikes. The Willamette national forest has it all. There's no place like home!

Go up past house rock campground a little ways and there is a perfect pull off for camping or a day trip right next to the river. It's free as far as I could tell and it's beautiful. Great find!

Willamette NF has left me speechless… I’ll have to let the pictures speak for themselves 😭🙌🏼 Probably my most favorite-ist hike ever. Loved walking through the huge lava rocks along the way, couldn’t believe each new sight was even more incredible than the last… a breathtaking experience to say the least! ⭐️✨🍃🌲🥾 (*pictures taken Sep 2021)

Found a spot..great sun by the river.a group of people in theyre 20's showed up. Beer in hand. Music blaring. No consideration that we were already there..no social distancing...physically stood in our space..too scary..we left....one female had a young baby.

Willamette national forest is, in my opinion, better than Mt. Hood area.. both equally beautiful but Willamette has much more interesting landscapes!!

Camp Hosting at Detroit Lake. It's cold but beautiful. They are filling the Detroit Lake very slowly, about a foot + per day. Very sweet to get to see the old streets and the foundations from the old Detroit town before they flooded it. The waters of the Santiam River are the most pristine waters of Oregon, in my opinion lol. The waters in the lake are a stunning turquoise in the sun. The burned areas are kinda sad to see, but Detroit Lake has lost none of her inner beauty. Everybody is very friendly.....so far! Lol

Beautiful forest! Extensive burn scarring makes me long for decades prior though when the forest was more vibrant. It’s still a great respite from urbanity.

I’ve been riding the trails around Oakridge for over ten years and think they are some of the best trails in Oregon. There are enough miles of trails to keep the average person entertained for a long time; maybe a lifetime. There’s a bike shop in town and at least two shuttle companies to take you around. Start with one of those and get a exploring.

It was so beautiful here.. We camped for two days, slept in the bed of the truck, under the stars.. Was such an amazing experience. Loved being right by the trails to the water. Short hike down to the water where I just sat and looked at the rocks and fallen trees. I can say that the only negative experience I had was I thought I was going to be eaten alive by the mosquitos on Saturday night. And when i woke up Sunday morning, they were already biting my face.. Yes, next time, I will have some type of repellant.

The Willamette national forest is not only home to a picturesque landscape, but a diverse range of magical creatures as well. With the natural wonders that are Oregon, the true mystery is why wouldn't Sasquatch claim this land for their own...

Great drive through the area, even with all the smoke from the recent fire.

Even though there are scars and vast scorched hillsides from the fire 2 years ago, it is still as beautiful as ever. Mossy, dark green trees, of countless varieties, are thriving here. The rebuilding in the small communities is apparent, and locals are holding their heads high. Its a natural wonder to see the stark transformation of the valley forest turn into the central Oregon forest, or vice versa

Clean, quiet, easy enough my 2 year old mashed through the trails and played in the side of the clean river. Will definitely be visiting Soda Creek Falls again!

Good views just make sure you hike during the summer. In June there was still snow six feet deep on the trail.

It was so beautiful up there, only this couple came along and wanted to borrow part of our site. We had a 27 ft travel trailer with us and not much room. I came out of the RV and she was squatting to pee right un the line of sight with the RV

The Rangers and Firefighters are great, most of the time it isn't full, sites are kept clean, I kind of wish it required an ODL to get in.

  • 5/5 Miche M. 3 years ago on Google
Gorgeous. Gravel roads in good condition. Magical spots with water rushing over boulders, sun through the trees and birds singing. Kick back and relax and breathe.

  • 5/5 Shelby O. 3 years ago on Google
Dispersal camping is awesome out here. Not everyone follows the rules in the no camping areas and occassionally the areas that do allow camping are not always left in the correct condition. Overall it is great and most people up in the dispersal camping areas are respectful.

  • 5/5 Rochelle S. 3 years ago on Google
Absolutely love our forest. Very beautiful and right in my backyard so to speak. Would like to see people clean up after themselves more, if you pack it in pack it out people!! As far as access to locations for people in wheelchairs I havent found many spots that accommodate, and bathroom availability for anyone seems scarce.
