Tried @cornbreadcafe.springfield for the first time and it did not disappoint. The Mushrooms and Grits were super tasty and I discovered I like tempeh (I've never had it before) It was was the "chicken" fried protein as well. The winner of the night was the kale greens (not pictured) which could easily compete with any of the greens that I've eaten in Atlanta. I will super be going back to have more tempeh, like the andouille mac and greens. No filter used in the photos.

It’s hours have just changed for summer to stay open into the night. Their menu has southern and down home classics and it’s vegan. For those meat lovers out there you’ll still love this place because the food is so flavorful and filling, and honestly I couldn’t really taste a difference in the “meat” they served in the gumbo I had. My dinner companion had the red beans and rice with homemade biscuits and strawberry jam. Everything here is made from scratch with organic ingredients, locally sourced where possible. I had the gumbo with cornbread and it was the most excellent cornbread I’ve ever had and my mom is from the south and makes killer cornbread. It was so fluffy and flavorful, served with some vegan butter on top it was perfect. For desert we had the bread pudding which is deep fried and drizzled with chocolate and vegan whipped cream and nuts. They serve hard liquor, beer and wine. Their dining area is spacious and has a vintage antique feel. The service was excellent with friendly, knowledgeable and skilled servers. It took hardly any time at all from when we ordered to when we got our food and even though we came in at 6 minutes til closing they were still friendly and eager to serve. I will definitely be coming back regularly for some delicious vegan home style cooking.

The Cornbread Cafe is the type of restaurant that is making downtown Springfield a much more desirable area. I like the antique feel of the decor. The servers are nice and attentive and the service was quick. I am not a vegan but I really enjoyed the gumbo. The menu options are an interesting and really tasty twist on some traditional dishes. It looks to be a good place to go for business lunches if you work in downtown Springfield.

Light-filled, spacious ambiance with vintage decor. Full bar. 100% vegan menu. My gumbo and cornbread were very tasty, and the portion was huge. Great acoustics for live music on Saturday nights. Friendly staff.

Love to have Cornbread Cafe added to the exciting nee developments in the Springfield downtown area! Patio seating so we could bring our dog and enjoy the food. We ordered Mushroom Po'Boy ($14) and Chick'n Fried Tempeh ($14) with a side of Mac Uncheese; both were delicious and absolutely comforting. Server was kind. The only area for improvement would be to increase service time, we had to wait more than 30minutes for our food. We hope this will get better as the team get into the flow of the business. We will surely be back to enjoy the eclectic vintage seatings indoors, check out the bar drinks and upcoming nightlife offerings. It's a much needed variety to the vegan food offerings in the area!

Went here for the grilled cheese experience. Oh my glob. This sammich was de-lish-ous. Definitely a great place to eat. Im not a vegan. But I didnt need to be to enjoy this place

ChickUn fried tempeh with mash n gravy Mac Uncheese and Hush Puppies and a cocktail. It was sooooo comforting and fresh. Better than the Eugene location, they mess it up.

The food and drinks were all amazing. My partner is allergic to dairy and eggs, so while we aren't vegan, it's just so much easier to navigate vegan menus safely. Also, my partner is from the Gulf Coast and enthusiastically endorses the menu. We had the mac and cheese with greens and the jambalaya along with a couple of lovely cocktails. Neither of us can believe it took us so long to get to the Springfield location. We love brunch at the original Eugene Cornbread, but just could never get into their dinner menu. This, however, was a whole different experience. We can't wait to go back! (Zero wait on a Thursday night. Staff was friendly and helpful.)
