Heceta Head lighthouse is beautiful and very much worth the stop. There is a $5 free which is paid through a credit card only kiosk. (Master card and Visa) You're given a ticket which must be displayed on your vehicle's dash. You then begin the very easy hike to the lighthouse with several information stands along the way. The lighthouse itself is very enchanting. We went on a cloudy day that allowed us to see the functioning light. They do not allow you to go up to the light; however, you can go inside. The employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. They told us about the lighthouse in such a way the kiddos listened happily. There is a gift shop with plenty of wonderful souvenirs to choose from as well as a beach that is absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend stopping by the lighthouse on your journey along the Oregon coast.

Fantastic experience. Highly recommend. And if you get lucky you'll get the nice lady that gave the tour of the old lighthouse keepers quarters. What an amazing history lesson! Lighthouse is large and great quality. I'm glad it was open on the bottom floor to see up. Be prepared for any kind of chilly wind or fog at any time. We were not prepared and had to improvise at the gift shop. Has portable restroom stalls at the top and full bathroom buildings at the bottom. Sometimes the main parking lot gets full. Worth the trip and time!

Heceta Head Lighthouse is a working lighthouse, perched atop 305 meters (1,000 feet) high Heceta Head, 21 kilometers (13 miles) north of Florence. The light atop the 17 meters (56 feet) tower was first illuminated in 1894 and now flashes a white beam for eight seconds every minute. Visible for 39 kilometers (21 nautical miles or 24 miles), it remains Oregon’s most powerful lighthouse beam. The Heceta Head Lighthouse and Light Keeper’s home were built around 1894. Both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is said Heceta Head Lighthouse is the most photographed ones in the United States. The Heceta Lighthouse B&B, in the Light Keeper’s home, is perched on a cliff with a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean and the beach below. Paths from the Light Keeper’s Home lead both to the beach and to the lighthouse. Visitors can book a room with ocean views and imagine the life of a lightkeeper. The inn is operated by a concessionaire of the U.S. Forest Service * Some photos courtesy of Internet. Thanks!

Love this location!!! Wish I could live here. Absolutely idyllic setting. What more could a nature lover yearn for... Ocean, Forest, Beach, Cliffs, Old Trees, Animal life, Rocks, and Expansive View. Did I mention I could live here. There is a nominal parking fee of $5 AND it's card only. The walk up to the lighthouse might offer slight challenge to folks out of shape or injuries but it very doable. It is a well maintained pathway. There is a cute souvenir store on the premises too. And if you want a Full immersion stay in the former lighthouse attendant home which is now an bed and breakfast. Also checkout the nearby sea lion grotto.

Haceta lighthouse is a worthy stop, for sure. The parking is right in front of a beach area where people enjoyed hanging out and walking with their shoes off. The walk up the light house is a nice easy walk. There is a cute gift shop on the way. At the top, the volunteers were so friendly and helpful! We asked them how to access the Hobbit Trail from there and they told us the 3 different options and pros and cons of each! It's beautiful up there, and if you go on the steeper trail behind light house you can get a closer view of the spinning glass above lighthouse, really cool. The only cost is parking., a few dollars

This place is beautiful! The walking trail alone is full of history! The lighthouse at the end of the trail opens to a gorgeous view of the ocean, and going inside is an experience itself. The park rangers there were very knowledgeable and you could tell they weren't there to collect a check. You can't go up the stairs, but it's still such a cool experience. You should definitely stop by if you're in the area or looking for vacation spots.

We spent one night here and it was absolutely perfect! The staff was so welcoming when we arrive. The wine and cheese the first night was so nice. The 7 course chef made breakfast was delicious and all fresh and the veggies and herbs are grown on site. The best part was the sound of the waves all night long. I totally recommend this place! I will definitely return.

Walked the trail up to the lighthouse with my partner and a couple friends. I was enchanted by the place and definitely would recommend. We got really lucky that the timing worked out for parking. The lot is small and the demand seemed pretty high. When we left, there was a huge line. It seems getting there before 11 AM helped us but even then we pulled into the last available spot. Parking was $5. The views were gorgeous with the trail itself rather easy to walk. It was a rewarding experience. They have a nice little gift shop as well.

This is a great place to go visit. If you like history in good views, that's on great little beach, find The Plan. The water go look at the caves on Maryland edges. You from tight polls at low tide. Nice little heights up to caretaker home and lighthouse. Great for taking pictures, we keep coming back. You can't go wrong

Loved this place. You have to hike a decent way to get to it, but well worth the effort. Beautiful views and the people that work there are very informative. The lighthouse is beautiful. A word of advice, if you by the Shirt and hat combination, $17.00, make sure you choose a shirt size 3 or 4 sizes bigger than you need, it shrunk so much I can't wear it but at least I have a new hat!!! 😉

Really worth the stop. A secluded beach surrounded by forest and a 19th century lighthouse overlooking the water. There is a path (about 1/2 mile) to get to both the gift shop and lighthouse itself, which may make it difficult for older folks and handicapped individuals as the path is uphill, however you can see the lighthouse and take some worthwhile photos at the base parking area. There is also a five dollar fee which I think is worth the time! Definitely a beautiful location!

Beautiful view of the Pacific ocean, where you can learn the history of light house. There is a bit of gradual switchback incline hike to get to the lighthouse, house where care takers lived, and gift shop. The lighthouse was basically closed to visitors the door was open by all you saw was the spiral staircase. However there were two volunteers outside that had a high powered scope that allowed you to see the Sealions and birds on the rocks, as well as knowing all about them. Below on the beach when tide is out you walk around or play in the sand.

The road shown in the maps is a private road leading to the light house. DO NOT take this road as it's clearly mentioned that you will be heavily fined and punished. You have two options. There is a secluded beach just a little away from this road all the way down. It's amazing but you don't get a view of the light house. Second, there is a short trail that takes you close to the light house with a view of the light house and the ocean. It Starts from the other side of the road so watch out for the signs. You also get a nice view of the light house from Sea lion caves.

Iconic lighthouse in a beautiful setting. We were fortunate enough to get to take a tour of the keepers house which was very informative. The lighthouse only the base is open to look inside and the lady in there was very informative as well.

This was a fun little adventure! We parked in the large parking lot and took the small hiking trail up to the lighthouse! Was a very easy hike (family friendly). We went a bit earlier in the day so there was no staff in the lighthouse but it was still pretty to look at!

Great stop on the Oregon coast! Small beach, a couple of picnic tables, restrooms, gift shop up the trail. There couple that gives this at the light house is delightful and knowledgeable. The husband was so kind to take a picture of each family/group visiting.

A beautiful lighthouse with a beautiful view. The volunteers over there were super helpful they put 2 telescopes one for bird watching and the other one to see sea lions. This is a great place you should visit.

Beautiful views! It is a nice wide path. It is a pretty good incline and may be difficult if you have health problems. I believe people were waiting for a tour they had arranged ahead of time. We just wandered around at our leisure. It didn't appear that you could go inside unless on a tour. There is a small gift shop.

Very cool lighthouse with a nice little hike up to it. Found out it’s the brightest light on the Oregon coast, which is a fun fact. They had some guides there to answer questions, and lots of plaques along the way to educate about the history.

Park in the overflow lot and walk. Nice big beach that seemed to be a popular locals / children's play spot. Long, easy walking trail to the lighthouse. Lots of flowers, blackberry bushes, and trees. Beautiful costal views.

Amazing spot, beautiful in every way. I say it's worth parking below at the beach and walking up, because the view up the trail is almost just as good as the view from the lighthouse.

From the parking lot to the lighthouse, go up along the Trail and there is another trail from the lighthouse to the top of the edinous. It was so good to go for a walk with my dog, and there was a beach right in front of the parking lot, so it was good to play ball. Fee area of $5.00 for parking. A good place to take a break on a winding drive. If you're in a hurry, you can finish the tour in 30 minutes and look around here and there in about an hour. The bridge from the beach was also very good to take pictures. It's a place worth more than $5.00 parking. fee ( annual pass $30.00 two year $50.00 for all of state park of Oregon )

Fairly long hike up hill but worth it. Friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. You can't go up in the tower but you can visit inside the base. Stunning views at ground level. You do have to pay $5 to park by using a kiosk. Gift shop was great and they also have snacks and drinks for purchase as well.

A five dollar parking fee gets you a beautiful beach, and a great walk to see the lighthouse and Bed & Breakfast. Gorgeous views for pictures. Don't miss this stop if you're traveling near Florence. There could be a shortage of parking. I would recommend going early or later in the day.

Heceta head lighthouse is always a great experience. I try to make it out once a month to let the ocean and the breezes calm me. Beautiful all year, during the summer weekends it can get crowded. Pit toilet on site open 9am-7pm. A lane county parks pass is recommended or $5 day pass is available on site.
