I'm really glad I discovered this place the other weekend with my family. It has so much to explore and enjoy, and the wildlife opportunities are amazing. There are a lot of wintering birds that frequent here at this time, and I've been grabbing my camera and heading out there almost every morning for a week. Eagles, herons, egrets, and of course ducks and geese are common. Love it.

Away from it all. The boardwalk feels otherworldly and emerging by the lake is as taking a deep breath. All trails here are easy and beautiful.

Nice drive around the loop and there are places to pull over. Road are a bit dusty as they are mostly gravel but well maintained. Lots of birds and a few mammals. Visitor center is currently closed but usually has bathrooms, nice talks and tiny gift shop. Trees around the building often have woodpeckers and phoebes in fall. We saw (April) quail, bluebirds, herons, egrets, Canada geese, osprey, green-wing teal, shovelers, pintails, mallards, ring necked ducks, coots and a nutria. Lots of trails and a couple areas for picnicking. Also saw pelicans in fall.

Really pretty place to visit. The driving path is long and takes you through many different areas to view and photograph if you wish. There is an old house called the Fiechter House you can view the outside of. I don't remember anything about the history of it unfortunately. The wildlife is diverse. If you are there to take photos I do recommend you bring a long lens. Plenty of places to pull over and view the wildlife. There are restrooms along the one way gravel road. At the end of the trail there is a gift shop with more restrooms and knowledgeable people to answer questions you may have.

No dogs allowed seeing as it is a wildlife refuge. Friendly reminder to be quiet and enjoy yourself immensely. Green herons and Egrets were in abundance on this fIne September afternoon

Beautiful place to explore! So many birds! And if you go at sunset, you may be able to catch a large elk herd as well.

It's a great place for long walk, flower, wildlife and bird watch! The trails are very well maintained. Clean bathroom and a small store in the visitor center area.

Great spot to walk with my toddlers. Plenty to see and very enchanting board walk through forested area.

This place is great. I've seen a bobcat, barn owls, rabbits everywhere, pelican's in the pond, & got to watch elk battle with their antlers while sitting in the woods and staying out of their way (I quietly walked into the trees and got between some brush and watched a huge group interact, make calls, clash antlers. They are huge awesome creatures. Definitely respect that. Try not to disturb them and just enjoy it if you get to witness them.)

I love going on walks here and it is a great place to see wildlife. I often see rabbits, quails, and geese. In the summer I sometimes see pelicans and in the winter elk.

If you enjoy nature, plants, trails and animals you must see this vastly beautiful Refuge. The nature center and store is open Fri-Sun, the roads/trails are well maintained. Every season is different at Finley, Fall is filled with migrating birds. Tundra and Trumpeter Swans, Duskies, Canadian Geese, Hawks, Herons, and more. Everyone is courteous while driving and just pulled over for a moment to enjoy the aroma, sounds and wonder. No fees, great parking, trails and so much more. a great staff of volunteers, stop over the weekend to say hello! ❤

Good area for a variety of wildlife but beware that there is a public elk hunt that starts in August and continues to the end of October. Not a good process as the hunters are going to kill the healthiest elk unlike natural predators.

It was a joy to go birding at the Finley NWR this Spring for the first time. There are several different habitats and we saw a variety of birds. The ranger was kind and helpful.

Absolutely stunning views and so much wildlife. I especially enjoyed seeing the egrets and wooly bears. I would definitely classify the paths as more of nature walks instead of hikes, and therefore very easy to navigate with little to no hills. ***If you're visiting the reserve in autumn, be sure to take extra caution and watch your step for uneven ground on the trails that might be covered by leaves.

This place is so cool! I came here to "watch" the eclipse; I caught a glimpse for about 2 seconds! Darn weather. But afterwards, I stayed in the refuge to check it out. I walked the Campell Marsh/Hoffman loop and enjoyed it! The boardwalks are in really good condition. I also visited the little store they've got and it was so cute! The whole area around it was recently renovated and is a great hub (with flush toilets!). Lastly, I did the Woodpecker Loop hike and was glad I did: short, simple, but quite the looker! I look forward to visiting here a lot more in the future.

Finley National Wildlife Refuge is beautiful. The trails are very easy to walk and the whole place is very clean. I have not seen litter once in the 10 or so times that I've been there. There is a very clean bathroom in the park office, and the staff is always incredibly friendly.
