For a first time visitor, it is actually quite hard to find the dunes. We happened across the visitor center in Reedsport, after driving many miles South from Florence. The center was closed, but lo and behold an angel appeared from within and gave us suggestions and directions to two locations that were awesome. One to the South of Windy Bay and the other on the John Dellenback dunes trail. They offered different perspectives but we're both amazing in their own right.

This great expanse of dunes and beach is a prestine wilderness. At least when we went in early autumn. Cold and windy. The scenery of these massive dunes (climbing some 60 feet) with the beach and sea below is a spectacle.

We visited two sections of the sand dunes from Florence OR, make sure you pick up a map upon entering. Great place to get some steps in and view these massive sand dunes. You can rent vehicles from an outside company to ride thru the dunes if desired. I just enjoyed the nature trails and flowers along the way! Bathrooms and steps are in good condition. Great parking, they do check your car for a paid pass. Dont be cheap and end up paying a fine. Its a park, do the right thing.. @glampedlife

Beautiful place to spend some time. The large loop trail 4.5 miles is quite strenuous since most of it is through soft sand. Near the sign in station a 1 mile gentle grade firm trail goes down to dune level. It has lovely picknic tables with amazing views.

I am speaking from the perspective of someone who has never been off road on dunes before, so take this as you will. This was truly an unforgettable experience. The terrain is great with a mix of challenging areas as well as easy rides. Having the beach so close was great too. Only a few minutes away. We came on a Saturday around noon and there weren't a lot of riders. Overall amazing experience and will come back again soon.

South Jetty - This was a fantastic area for me and my family in our Jeep to discover! Wide enough areas with many levels of dunes. I saw a lot of safe riding and it it was pretty empty for a summer Sunday. I recommend bringing a map if it's your first time out cuz there's a lot of fingers to the dunes here. There were even areas to do some mudding! Be aware of the tide tables if you venture over the last dune onto the beach. Don't forget to air down and bring/mount your flag!

There are so many activities that are offered here. One of my favorites is mushroom picking. You can pick up different types of permits to pick mushrooms or greens throughout the area. They offer maps and help you with locations as to where you might have the best luck to find what you are looking for. The staff is very knowledgeable of the area.

We rode our RZR here for four days. We never saw the same trail twice except for the trail down to the beach which we used often. Unspoiled views in every direction as far as the eyes can see. The terrain is varied. It consists of everything from towering dunes of perfectly fine sand that you can climb and explore for hours on end to woodsy trails through the forest breaks between the dunes and the ocean to riding uninterrupted for miles up and down the beautiful undeveloped beach with not another soul in sight. A true nature lovers dream and a dune riders dream as well. Definitely something for everyone. The wildlife is abundant. We spotted too many birds of varying species to keep track of them all. Please be wary of the Snowy Plover as they are on the endangered species list. Ride with caution when you see these beautiful birds as not to disturb their natural habitat.

Really hard to find the right place to see dunes. The largest dune near coast is umpqua dunes. Search ‘umpqua lighthouse’, then follow the salmon harbor dr to the end. You can see umpqua beach 3 with large dunes. Lighthouse is good to have a view of all those dunes nearby.

Such a beautiful area and something to do for everyone! Rent side by sides at Ridin Dirty Atv Rentals and explore the dunes, walk the beach, go crabbing and fishing, or hang out at the Blue Box and listen to some great music!

The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area extends for 40 miles along the Oregon Coast. They run from Florence to Coos Bay. Bordering the Pacific Ocean, you can drive a dune buggy or quad bike on the beach as well as the sand dunes. We had a blast riding up and down the dunes before heading to the beach to cool down. Woo hoo! A great day if you're looking for an adventure 😀

I can’t believe we have sand dunes here in North America, let alone the Pacific NW.

There is always an adventure to be had exploring the area. Observing wildlife, collecting seashells, hiking, cruising the beach or running the dunes...pack ot in pack it out. Make sure you've got a plan b and/or someone to call if you get stuck.

Great place to ride Razors, side-by-side, quads and dirt bikes. The dunes go on forever. Best time to ride is early morning and evening time to miss the crowds.

Always fun to ride. Just wish when it's busy that most people would realize it's better to ride to the right of the main road from bull run to spin reel and again on the road to the right of the main oe on the way back. There could be less head on collisions if people could ride this way more often. Lots of area to ride!

Had a great time ATVing at the dunes. So much fun and definitely a must do if you’re in the area. We went as a large group (30ish people) and had an absolute blast. The dunes are even fun if you’re not ATVing. Running around in the sand and enjoying this unique view is very fun. Highly recommend it.

Ya gotta like sand and a lot of it. Not a ocean beach scene but great dunes sweeping down to fresh water lakes. A unique region of the Oregon Coast to be sure.

Wicked awesome sand dunes right next to the ocean. Went to the beach. Brought the doggos, but should have brought a UTV. Definitely coming back with one and a cooler for a picnic on the dune. The locals say Just Dune It!

Dune buggy heaven. Take a ride to the top and come charging down. Kids love it. These are huge.

Best in the west coast. Leaves Océano and Yuma behind in dunes.

Drizzly mornings and slow going if you opt to hike, but gorgeous!
