One of the best views in Portland Oregon all for free. The views are treasures by many who live here for good reason, as the moment you see Mt. Hood and the rest of the city on a clear day your breath will be taken away and you'll gain an appreciation for the beauty of our city. One of my favorite spots to climb to by bike (very hard but fun!) and one of my favorite spots to enjoy thirty minutes of our beautiful city and nature.

I can't believe in over a decade living in Portland I've never visited the Pittock Mansion. What a spectacular glimpse of history. Loaded with beautiful architecture and fun facts about the family and home. We really enjoyed our visit. I'm glad it's ticketed so it didn't feel too crowded despite a beautiful, December weekend day. I can't wait to be back and stroll the property (on a less chilly day!).

Fantastic views over the city and excellent photo ops in the beautiful surrounds. A small expense on parking only, about 2 dollars an hour. Could be a great trek or hike down from here to Washington park but we drove to a from. A great first stop when visiting Portland to get your overall bearings. Possibly worth touring the mansion too but we didn't have time. Give yourself 30mins to an hour to explore the outside surrounds.

Beautiful house on top of the hill, love all the flowers along the way. On a sunny day, blue sky, green grass, colorful flowers - the view is just fabulous. Looking at the mountain and the city, probably one of the best places to visit in the area. The Christmas decorations are beautiful.

The start of the story of Portland. The home of the family that put Portland on the map. If you want to know the story of our city you must visit the Pittock Mansion at least once. The architecture is beautiful, the gardens are well maintained. The views are a must see wether on a rainy or a clear day. If you only have a few hours in our city go to the Pittock Mansion. There’s some wonderful trails on this side of the park too. Just don’t forget to pay for parking.

when you walk into this mansion you feel like you just traveled back in time. It does not disappoint for the price it has loads of rooms for you to explore and has some amazing views. It took me about 2 hours to go through the mansion. The parking is reasonable for 2 dollars and hour.

The self guided tour during Christmas is the best as the mansion is decorated for the season. I would plan for good weather to tour the grounds and view point, at the front of the property, as it is best on a clear day. We were lucky enough to see portland and down town. Allow about an hour to tour the mansion.

My friend took us here right before they were set to close to get a nice view of Portland at sunset. We arrived at the parking area at 8:50pm and the ranger told us that he closes the gate at 9pm. But he still let us go check out the view quickly and also look at the mansion. The mansion looks nice from the outside because we couldn't go inside. But the view from the backyard is priceless and was perfect at sunset. They have a decent amount of parking but I think it can get busy during the afternoon time.

We were on a hike and decided to stop by the mansion. The grounds are beautiful and the view is spectacular. We were there on a clear, sunny day when you could see Mt. Hood well. There are restrooms, too, so it’s a good pit stop.

Definitely go! Bring a picnic! There are picnic benches. The entry for adults to the mansion is $ 16.95. It goes down incrementally for seniors, students, and youth. You can hike up to the pittock mansion there is a lower parking lot you can park at. Or you can drive all the way up and park in the upper parking lot.. It's a beautiful walk through the trees and it's challenging so if you are down for beauty and challenge then put on those hiking shoes or comfortable grip sneakers . There are picnic benches that overlook the beautiful view of Portland Oregon. Go on a clear day and you can see all 5 mountains! Bring some nice binoculars. The Pittock mansion has an amazing display about black history that's very personal and has interpersonal histories of local black history. You will be moved and you will be schooled. It's a very moving installation. It is in the basement. I have mixed feelings about that but the installation itself is then itself is very moving and needs to be seen. Definitely don't forget to go to the basement and look at it.

An amazing example of forward thinking and innovation, hard to believe some features in this house were available 110 years ago. Well worth taking the self guided tour inside to experience the architecture and modern features. Views over Portland all the way to Mt Hood are excellent from inside the house and even better from the yard.

Amazing Views. You pay for Parking. Unless you park on the side road before arriving to Mansion. Entrance to walk trail and garden is Free but there's a fee of about $10-$15 per adult for Self Tour. Super nice, well organized. Picture/Video allowed. No touching! Beautiful architecture/story.

I highly recommend checking out Pittock Mansion. The exterior and interior are breathtaking. There is an amazing view of Portland , you can understand why the family chose to build there home at that spot . The staff was very informative, you can tell they love what they do . It’s fun to step back in time and see how people lived not to long ago . I also heard they do events there , so keep an eye out on their Facebook page .

This place is so beautiful in and out. If you come here and don’t do the inside tour you’ll enjoy the surroundings just the same. The exterior and the landscaping not to mention the viewpoint of down town Portland are just amazing. There’s a trail as well if you want to go on a hike. There’s a gift shop and public restrooms. You’ll have to lay for parking and for the inside tour of the mansion. We enjoyed the tour and recommend doing it if your ever up here.

So worth it. Even if you don't go inside ($20 admission fee). My friend says the tour is great. The views are amazing and the trails were great. A little muddy, but hey, it's Portland. Seriously great views, don't miss this.

Great place to visit. Very interesting mansion and had a great view of Portland. You have to pay to park and then another fee to pay to go inside. Probably spend a good hour here. I don't think you need to pay if you just want to look around outside.

06/10/23: this awesome mansion is near the Witch’s Castle and it definitely is worth a visit. It has an outstanding horizon view of the city of Portland. I did not buy a ticket to get inside the mansion but I heard so many great things inside. Please consider buying a ticket to have a full experience. The mansion is well-maintained, clean, and spacious. I enjoyed the beautiful view and historical meaning of this mansion. Worth a visit!!

I enjoyed the visit to Pittock Mansion. I was able to avail of the Cultural Passes through our local library and get two free adult tickets and one child ticket. I paid for one more adult ticket and it was an easy process on the website. The house is delightful and the views from there look to be beautiful. We visited on a very foggy/overcast day, so sadly did not have the greatest vista views, but I can see they would be great on a sunny day.

Ticket price is reasonable. Mansion is not as big as some I've been to in the US, and the interior is about average, not too many artifacts. The garden is also adequate for a mansion, not too impressive. The main attraction is the view and the cool breeze that you can feel in many rooms throughout the tour. Doesnt take too much time and effort to finish. It is elderly, children and pet friendly

I went here to watch the sunset and it was such an incredible view, something you can't pass up! Everything about this place is beautiful. The mansion is unfortunately still locked and not open for entry and the gates at night close at 9pm.

It was nice to see the property and learn a bit about the history. The Christmas decorations were fun for my wife and the views are great. During December they have live music which was nice. We got lucky with parking. Worth a visit or two. We would like to come back in the Spring / Summer to see the foliage and flowers in full bloom.

Really nice mansion with a lot of information on the origins of Portland and history of the city. The furniture is more representative of the period than actually from the mansion itself. Tickets can be purchased at the door, there was no wait on a Saturday. Museum is paid, although you can walk the grounds and go to the viewpoint for free.

It's hard to believe I've never been here in all the years I've lived here! So glad I came when it was all decked out for Christmas! Note: park in the pull outs up the driveway for free and hike up the road a tad to avoid the city's parking meter and minimal parking. You must use their parking kitty app or their meter, which was not working when we were there. Parking tickets are sky high if they issue you one for not paying so word to the wise! They do have an elevator, clean bathrooms, a gift shop, and a wonderful view of the city! The 16,000 Sq ft French Renaissance style home is characterized by its impressive architecture and 23 art- and antique-filled rooms, where you can learn about the fascinating success story of early Portland moguls Henry and Georgiana Pittock, instrumental in the city's development.

Beautiful place to visit. It’s fun to read about the history of the mansion. You do have a pay for parking and then tickets to the mansion were $14.50 a person. They also have a gift shop. The view that overlooks Portland was really nice. The rooms are set up and some of the pieces are originals but some are not.

A must see if you are visiting Portland, Oregon! I suggest hiking the Wildwood trail over to the Pittock mansion. It will give you a good sense of what the Oregon forests are like. And you only have to travel two miles to get there! Be sure to bring your camera, because the views from the Pittock mansion includes the beautiful city scape 1,000 feet up from the Portland skyline. It's the best view in town! And on clear days, you can marvel over the existential beauty of the Cascade Mountain! That's right folks! You get to see 5 different mountains from this view point! Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Rainier, and Mount Jefferson!

I didn’t do any touring of the mansion, I used the parking lot and went to get lost on some trails with my puppy. At the end of our adventures, we looked at the view of the city and mt. hood. It truly was a cool experience overall

We loved our time here. We did-not do the mansion tour as it was closed on Sundays, but it costs around 15$ per person. Parking is around 2$ per hour. We wandered around the mansion and then went to the viewpoint which was amazing. The best view of Portland in my opinion. There are a few benches bear the viewpoint to sut and have a meal while enjoying the view. The flowers around the mansion was pretty as well. There are trails in this area as well if youre into that.

The botanical grounds and views are arguably the best in Portland. Add in a hike on the Forest Park trail the intersects. Interior on the home is kept in period pieces and decor. Cared for by a non-profit, not the city. Consider donating! Parking: try parking on the city street outside the gate to avoid crowded parking, then walk up to the Mansion or find the trail offshoot just inside the gate and stay to the left to end up at near the Mansion after a short walk.

Views of downtown Portland are awesome from Pittock Mansion. There are no amenities here, so if you want a snack, bring your own. Found some of the staff pretty rude and clearly disinterested, not sure why they chose to work there. Not as large as I thought it would be. Not sure I would bother to make a return visit. Overall pretty blah despite all the hype.

This mansion is fabulous. It seems that it came straight out of a picture. It’s very well decorated and well preserved. The grounds are also a great experience with breathtaking views.

  • 5/5 Tanmay K. 10 months ago on Google
The mansion is really gorgeous to look at. There are multicolored flowers all across the property. There is also a view spot that overlooks the downtown area. We were not lucky enough to spot the mountain scenery due to fog and clouds. Overall worth a visit even if for a walk

This is an awesome place to visit. It’s a lovely property! We just toured the grounds instead of going inside the mansion. What a view of the city and Mount Hood out in the backyard!

I was passing through in 2017, and remember visiting here after going to Powell's Books. I don't know the history of the area, but enjoyed walking through the mansion, and imagining what it would have been like to live and work here back then. Needless to say, given the location, Pittock Mansion has a great view overlooking Portland below and there are trails nearby to enjoy as well.

  • 5/5 Philip H. 1 year ago on Google
The mansion is a work of art and luxury. The view of Portland from the Mansion is reason enough to visit. The family's story and lifestyle is interesting. Make sure to visit the basement billiards room and read about the journey I'm the Oregon Trail that many slaves endured for freedom. Note you have to pay for parking. You have to pay to tour the mansion, which is self guided. You may buy tickets at the door.

Large historic mansion overlooking Portland, featuring magnificent views of the city. Self guided tour is fun and very interesting. Furnishings, decor and architecture are all quite spectacular, and the signs posted throughout are very informative and interesting. A real treasure in Portland, and a must-see for any visitors to the city.

Astonishing view of the mountain Hood and the entire city of Prtland. The mansion is sitting on top of the hill. Even though it was built like more than 100 years ago, the building is still in a very nice shape. The interior is of the highest quality possible for wooden structure, paintings, flooring, and decorations. Very happy to visit there. The parking is a little tricky as there are so many visitors and the parking lot is relatively small. Consider to parking just before entering the premises, several car were parking there for free without the hassle to circling the parking lot multiple times to wait for spot.

Portland Life at the top circa 1912… worth the walk through a lifestyle of the past. Sweeping Views of Portland. Wedding photography going in there! Hiking trials too. $8 to park and don’t leave valuables in car…

  • 5/5 Charlene F. 1 year ago on Google
You can pay $2 an hour to just park and walk around the grounds. It is less than $15 to do the mansion tour. The mansion was beautiful and a great experience to learn about Portland. There are the most amazing views of the city skyline and Mt. Hood from the lookout on the grounds. There are picnic tables and benches to rest.

  • 4/5 Ashley K. 1 year ago on Google
We got there and walked around the grounds. The inside of the mansion was closed. The grounds and the view was amazing. Beautiful flowers, nice trees and a clear day to see all of Portland. Only thing I wish I would of been able to find is the hours for the museum so I can plan a trip to see the inside.

This place is absolutely amazing! If your in Portland or near the West Hills this place is a must on sunny day, great views and just a super cool vibe being here. I've never been and I lived in Portland all my life! 🤟🏼

I can’t believe it took me 3 years to do this short hike into some cool history. What a strong house with the best view of downtown from the west side of the Willamette. The trail had been closed but it’s open now. One can also drive to the mansion.

  • 5/5 pnw m. 1 year ago on Google
came here while in the area, ended up going in and didn’t disappoint. Easy to follow signage, informative information along the way and a lot of great Portland history and views of the city. The garden and viewpoint outside are great and worth a visit as well.

  • 1/5 James B. 4 months ago on Google • 2 reviews
It’s a cool place, and it would be an impressive restoration but the entire mansion is covered in tacky modern Christmas decorations, a lot of which block some of the coolest parts of the house. I don’t know what it’s like the rest of the year but definitely miss it during the Christmas season.
