I came in with an open mind and left feeling like it was a huge mistake. The food was good for what they ordered. I don’t know if the waitresses were having a bad day but we had only encountered them taking our order, giving us our meal, then our check. No service at all. Didn’t even offer cream for my coffee. And get this. How do you wrongly calculate the bill by $10?! It was not even busy when we were there. Plenty of open seats & they were more attentive to other patrons.

I had the Jerry's Special after asking what the waitress liked. This plate did not disappoint! The portions were very generous, in fact we're skipped lunch and ate left overs for dinner! The meal was just as good hours later as leftovers! The service was top notch, never saw the bottom of my coffee cup. I loved the retro feel of the restaurant, it was retro without feeling old, tired, and/or grimy. Thinking this might be our new go to restaurant when traveling through Nevada!

This place has American morning foods like pancakes, delicious fruits, and more. If you have a kid this place will be a great place for you, or if you are a Disney fan you will love it. The special food in The Cracker Box is that you can get Micky mouse or Minnie mouse pancake. It looked so cute and was tasty. There is so many great foods you can eat. When you don't want to cook breakfast, go to The Cracker Box, this will be a perfect place where you can enjoy your breakfast happily.👍🏻

Busy place Large salads and sandwiches. Good place to eat lunch or breakfast. We ate lunch but saw large over-full breakfast plates on many tables.

Came here 3 days in a row and breakfast was really good. Coffee was also pretty good. The staff was cool and just had a nice vibe in the place. Would recommend and would definitely come again next time I’m in town. :)

Great food. Moderate price. Be prepared to wait…but the wait is well worth it.

The Cracker Box, I would love to say I was happy with my food. Not only was it plain, and bland…..but the service was slow and not really friendly. And it was not busy at all. There were 2 people in this joint. The only reason I gave it too stars. The orange juice was fresh with lots of pulp. As chef of 10 years just wow…..disappointed overall

Our server was really nice. Didn’t seem super happy but who is in this town. Atmosphere is kinda dingy and probably hasn’t been updated since the 80s. Felt a little out of place since I was the only one there under 70 but that doesn’t reflect the restaurant… I think. As far as food, everything was pretty good. Eggs were actually cooked right which is rare around here. Chicken fried steak was really bland. Maybe they used the French toast batter instead of fried chicken batter. Wouldn’t have killed them to salt the meat before cooking it. But the gravy on top was not bad at all. The spuds are pretty good too. Nothing was crazy good but it was all alright. Prices are reasonable but could be a little better. I would go again maybe but I don’t feel I belong there given my age and I have a kid. By the way there is no kids menu but they will help you out with that. But it’s more of a place for seniors it seems.

I am a lifetime resident of Carson City. My friends and family agree, Cracker box sucks! Check out the health inspector reports for years. The owner knows the health inspector will visit every year, and still the cracker box has several failed attempts to pass this basic standard that the public requires and deserves. Boo on the cracker box! Can't believe there is a positive review of this place, I DO NOT BELEIVE IT! I will consider it my life's mission to shut the cracker box down. I feel that strongly about this terrible business, and an embarrassing Carson city dive, that remains open for business? Please Consider this health inspector. If there is a fail for restaurants, they should have one chance to fix the problem. Who's side are you on? Isn't there any integrity in that public office?

First and last time… listening as a server is a good skill to have. Apparently your cup needs to be empty and you need to ask for a refill not for them to take your empty. Then if you ask for said refill, listen to what the customer asked for and don’t bring them two separate drinks. Oh, and please explain $8.90 being added to the bill for those two wrong drinks… never again!

Great family owned breakfast/lunch spot. It’s relatively small and can get busy but they do the best they can and have great service. Great atmosphere with lots of nostalgia and old photos. It’s worth the time if you’re in the area.

Great friendly place, fast service. I ordered an omelet that came with home fried potatoes. I looked delicious on the plate. The potatoes were yummy, however the omelet had no flavor at all. The cheese never melted, I brought the leftovers home and reheated it, still cheese did not melt. I realized it was imitation cheese. That explains the no flavor. I would go again and try something different.

Love these old diners. Service was really good here. The waitress was quick with the coffee and took our order soon thereafter. The food arrived hot and quicker than we expected. I ordered ham steak and eggs. Everything was prepared well and tasty. We'll definitely visit here again.

My husband's food he said was great but the ranch was nasty. My food was ok the fruit cup was mushy and gross. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Our waitress was great at the beginning and then after our food and finishing eating we just sat there waiting to get a box and for her to grab our check for 15+ minutes to be told we had to use the atm. No big deal but she didn't even come back to get our cash or give us change. So she got a pretty good tip. Then the food has already upset both of our stomachs.

The Cracker Box is definitely my go to breakfast/brunch restaurant. I have never been disappointed in the food or service as the staff is incredibly welcoming and kind and whatever you order on the menu will be delicious. Definitely ask about their specials, they're always amazing. The prices are also very fair, but they only accept cash so plan ahead! I was surprised to see they updated their website to something more user friendly which is always appreciated as half the time I'm ordering over the phone from the website. Anyone who hasn't been here has to try it, you won't be disappointed!

Great clean location. Great if you want to relive a diner experience! HEALTHY AMERICAN FOOD! American food is always super greesy, spiced and salty, NOT at the Cracker Box! Food is almost greese free, seasoned with fresh ingredients and cooked with hardly any salt. Enjoy your breakfast or brunch at this beautiful, fresh, old fashioned location! Don't forget to get that freshly squeezed orange juice, naturally sweet, perfect compliment to your breakfast! I left the diner full but light, and I didn't need to eat all day long!

A very nice diner with excellent staff and good priced food. Only place I can go with my lady and not spend more than 30 dollars on lunch for the both of us. However, I'm gonna Flat out say it; diners need to sell pie again. The fact that I can't go in, enjoy a nice cup of coffee with a slice of pie or other desert, is criminal. It should be legally mandated that diners sell pie, or something like that, so I can go there with a cup of coffee and hang out. Other than the lack of pie, the place is tasty, cheap, and everyone is polite. Why go anywhere else?

The food was alright. I got a bacon Cheeseburger and the bacon was over cooked. Very crispy and borderline burnt. But the burger was pretty good and the fries were awesome. The service was a little slow but we had a very large group. Took up almost 1/3 of the total seats. Overall not bad but I think we caught them on a rough day

We stopped here on our way to Lake Tahoe and let me just say the food was amazing. It's a small mom and pop type place and everyone was very welcoming. We did have a bit of a wait but it was well worth it. Pancakes were fluffy and the breakfast potatoes a hit with the kids. Also any place that makes perfect over easy eggs gets 5 ⭐️.

This is such a wonderful little dinner. If I lived closer, I'm sure I'd be on a first name basis with everyone!!! We came at peak breakfast time and we're seated immediately, which is always appreciated. Our server was friendly and fast. Another huge plus!! We both ordered the chorizo scramble and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked, serves with crunchy and crispy potatoes, which were also really good. And the best part about it. It was reasonably priced. I'll be back for more.

Plan on waiting a bit because this place is very popular and for a good reason! Great quality diner food and we've never been disappointed. We thought we might need a magnifying glass to see our serving of potato salad, but with the way prices are it's understandable. I would highly recommend this place.

I would give four stars for the service but the food wasn't so good. Excellent service! People are checking on you every few minutes, ready to refill your coffee and bring you creamer. My family seemed happy with their pancakes and their French toast looked super big, puffy and delicious but my omelette had runny eggs on the inside. They were generous and packed my omelette with spinach and tomatoes. But I prefer the eggs to be cooked and not like jelly on the inside.

Yum! The food is delicious. The atmosphere is a little crowded. Hence, their name. Our server was the best! -Regina

If you read nothing else, just know the one thing that threw me for a loop with this place ONLY takes CASH or CHECK. NO credit cards or debit cards. That was a surprise. We just moved to the area and this place was recommended by a few people. My husband isn’t a fan of potatoes but he really liked theirs. The reviews said they had hash but it wasn’t on the menu so I ordered bacon and eggs. I got five pieces of bacon. It was great. Sourdough was great too! It was busy and we still got pretty good service. It’s a small, cozy place with an open kitchen concept. Just make sure you have cash on you when you go!
