Absolutely loved this park. At first I didn't want to stop due to other well-known stops along my route. I'M GLAD I DID. It's $8 for a day pass for the park. Money well spent. Lots of fun for families and great photo opps for the solo traveler. This is a must-stop.

Formerly known as Patrick’s Point State Park. Sue-Meg State Park is a lovely state park located on the coast of Humboldt County north of Trinidad. My friends wanted to visit Agate Beach so park by the trailhead. The hike down to beach wasn’t bad. The trail is fairly easy but remember that you do have to hike back up to the parking lot. The beach is vast. It was a nice place to walk around and look at the cliffs and look for pretty rocks. We eventually just laid down by the beach and listened to the large waves crash. There other places to visit in the park but we didn’t have enough time. I would definitely go back again and explore the other side of the park.

Great place to picnic and learn about the Yurok Native Traditions and Culture! Different trails throughout the park with great ocean and wildlife viewing. There are plenty of clean restrooms scattered around the park and several overnight campsites with easy online reservation instructions. $ 8-day use fee if you just want to hang out for the day. I stay or visit this park every time I'm on the Northern California Coast!

We stayed at Agate Campground and while it was fine. It wasn’t special. It had a great view of the forest behind it but the spots were small and the tree brush wasn’t very groomed in the sites themselves. The thing about this place however is the lookout and the private walk down to Agate beach!

*Patrick's Point - very pretty *Wedding Rock - pretty cliffs Both have short dirt paths with a little bit of climbing. Not everyone will find this comfortable or accessible. *Sue-Meg Village - The best. Just as I remember it as a kid. These homes and grounds are amazing and still maintained by the Yurok. You can go inside most of the homes through the hole. The interiors are amazing. That said, not everyone will be able to climb into the hole and therefore really miss out! Kids will fit for sure, and smaller, flexible adults who don't mind getting a bit dirty. If you can, go inside, you'll be amazed at how roomy it is inside. I could and would live there now. There are picnic tables and large areas for school or family groups. The place is well maintained, there are restrooms and plenty of parking. There are trails shooting off from the village. There are bears and mountain lions in the are, like every other part of the forests on the coast.

A large part of the park was closed for storm clean up and repairs however there were still more trails that we could manage in one day. We saw 2 whales close to shore from the rim trail as well as other amazing vistas. After a picnic lunch we hiked down to Agate Beach to collect rocks (no patience to ferret out agates). Some of the trails are steep and a little slippery. We utilized our walking sticks (we are seniors ;)). There was no attendant at the entrance booth and the info center does not have cash, so make sure that you have the appropriate money for the entrance fee.

Friends who live nearby treated us to a camping night while we were traveling and wow this park has it all. Wedding Rock and Agate beach are so close. The camping ground was quiet at night. The restrooms were adequate and we really loved hearing the waves as we slept. I'd love to go back asap and enjoy this park more. So much we didn't get to explore as we were only there one night.

Nice little park but for $8 not sure it is worth it. Save your money and go down to the national park that has used your federal dollars to enhance the park, maintain the trails, keep the restrooms in good repair, keep the roads in good or better repair and generally create a nice environment to recreate in. None of the campgrounds have water or electric or sewer but the sites are usually spacious and private. Restrooms were usually clean but we did find a few times that they were dirty and packed supplies that you might assume would be there. In Sept the park was never crowded and ready to find solitude of you wanted some.

Beautiful park, the Redwood trees are magical and extraordinary. The ocean view is magnificent. I couldn't believe the treasures I found, the banana slugs were everywhere and quite intriguing. The intensity of the ocean waves blew me away. The cliff line along the mountain side told a powerful story as well as the ocean. It's a wonderful and quiet get away in a foggy mysterious and powerful place. Camping is $35 a night, sights are clean. Each one unique and beautiful. I had a lovely and enlightening moment in time here. I hope to one day be back again.

We stayed at the campground and explored the park. It's quite large and very pretty. Our campsite was just ok. It was surrounded with blackberry bushes, no hook-ups but was level and quiet. We really enjoyed the Wedding Rock trail and look outs. Beautiful sunset and views. It's worth going down to and climbing Wedding Rock. It's so beautiful. We rode our bikes around the park, which is quite large. A beautiful and fun place to explore!

This is one of my favorite places I've ever been. Located in the beautiful small town of Trinidad, CA and conveniently located right off Hwy 101, this state park is a worthy addition to any itinerary. The park is small enough that you can easily walk to various points of interest, but it's expansive in what it offers. Great tidepools at Palmer's Point, cool rocks and agates at Agate Beach, amazing sunset views from Wedding Rock, informative and interesting insight into the local Yurok tribe with the reconstructed Yurok village, an awesome hike to the Ceremonial Rock, and much more. The trails run through forests, meadows, and the beach so you can truly fine-tune your experience. You can also camp at multiple camp sites. The entire park is easy to drive, with plenty of parking lots, but also nicely walkable. Entry is $8 and admission grants you free access to any other California state park within the same day. I highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area. If you can, time your visit with low tide for maximum tide pooling and agate hunting.

We just stopped for a quick view from Patrick’s Point. The view was fabulous. We parked and walked a very short distance (.2 mile?) to the viewpoint. You have a great view of Wedding rock from here. We didn’t have time to explore, but we think the trail to wedding rock was from the same parking lot.

Some of the facilities can definitely use maintenance, like the stairs. The showers could be updated, to have working lighting and more consistent hot water. The park is utterly beautiful though. It's fantastic that they went with a rename last year to respect the native people's indigenous to the area.

The costal walk has some really nice views of the ocean. It's not a place for checking out redwoods, like Redwood National Park (20 min north) and Jedediah Smith (60+ min north) but gives a nice view of some of the other flora and fauna in the area.

We love this park. We drive from Crescent City to have a picnic and use the multiple accessible trails. The bathrooms are always clean, the staff is friendly, and we always run into great tourists along the trail. There's a variety of wildlife and fauna here. It really is a beautiful park, and we ALWAYS appreciate an accessible trail.

This is an amazing state park with beautiful views of the pacific ocean and is along the redwood coast. It's a hidden gem that I always enjoy going to. This is a picture along taken if you go behind the wedding rock along the trail. There is so much to see here and if you go at sunset you get incredible views.

I always hate leaving reviews for places like this because I feel like they're a small hidden gem that should be kept secret. I don't want it to become next on the list of places that gets  "loved to death" and suddenly you need a reservation to get in. But if I dont share how cool they are then they can't stay open. This is a pretty tiny state park but it has some spectacular views of the coast. If I were local to the area I could see coming here to watch the sunset or take a quiet stroll through the trails. It was quiet when we went, not crowded and very lovely. It was the perfect end to a longer day of hiking in other nearby parks.

Lots of fun, enjoying the beach was phenomenal. Plenty of small drift wood for crafts. The trip down was workable and tougher going back up; but benches and stairs help 70 year old knees. Gift shop had good stickers, kids' stuffies, shorts and post cards, plus great info able whale migration through the area. Will get 5 stars when they let dogs in.

This is a treasure of a park. Absolutely worth the stop. We spent two days there and did not get to do everything. We will definitely be back. You can camp in the redwoods, and walk miles of trail by the coast. Every view is breathtaking.

The park is absolutely beautiful. This hike is along the Rim Trail. I was able to take most off-shoot trails to make my hike one end and back more then 7 miles. Lots of beautiful photos Opps. The trails are wide and pretty clear, easy to navigate for the most part. Be careful going off-trail of course. Take your time and enjoy!

A stunning gem on the California coast. Magnificent in every facet. The views are incredible. The campgrounds are immaculate, well maintained, quiet and clean. Showers are nice. Staff is very friendly, Hannah was very kind and helpful. Thank you! A must visit stop if you’re in the area.

Agate camp ground is amazing! Looking for the agates is so much fun! I wish we could have went to clam beach and wedding rock but didn’t have time… in august the beach is foggy and about 65 degrees but not cold. It’s close to the redwood forest so you have even more to explore! This place is so amazing and peaceful. The people are so nice to! Heads up though this isn’t Florida. This water is COLD and even the waves are bigger than floridas! If you pay the entrance fee it also gets you into surrounding state parks so don’t forget to check them out!

Absolutely loved this place. Trinidad, California. We loved eating at Seascape Restaurant. And we loved eating at Trinidad Eatery also. Close enough for a 3 day weekend. Beautiful enough to stay for a week. Plenty of places to go and things to do.

👍👍 There's a long stairwell down to this beach. The waves can be big and unpredictable and very dangerous, especially in the winter. There is a creek that flows out here and you can get caught in between the ocean and the Creek and washed out. The water can often cover the entire beach. That said, this...

👍 There's a nice little beach with barely any waves for the kids. There's sand dunes and obstacle course for those who like four wheeling. The sand can get a little hot when it's not foggy and the sun is out. We only spent time at the beach, in which case you'll be better with an umbrella or beach ten...

😠 I agree with another reviewer who used the word "catfished" to describe their experience at this hotel.
