Expected great things after fantastic local community reviews, visited and got really poor service, the items I wanted were in stock and sold individually. (I did ask if they had it in stock, he said yes... Long pause between us and I said, could I buy some then?, he replied well you havnt told me the size... 🙄) the fella then told me he wasn't going to count them out (held behind the counter and priced individually) and seeing as the items weren't available to buy in a pre packaged box I was left to work out how I was to buy the product individually but not make the fella behind the counter count out the items. I was expecting great things but I was left to feel like I've put the fella out, definitely not what I was expecting from a shop the is held In high regard in the community, hoping it was a one off

I've been using Melvyns for 30+ years. I honestly don't think you will find a shop so useful, so well stocked and staffed by people who actually know what they are talking about. It is always my first port of call.

Fantastic shop. A local shop which supplies the area with DIY products & more. Workers can guide you to exact shelf where the requested product is. Fabulous shop.

This place seems to stock the obscure item that you would spend a lot longer scouring an online shop for, and without having to buy more than you need in a pre packed bag. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly, probably had a good laugh afterwards about how I'll prepared I was to describe what I wanted, but they they sorted me out and I left happy. Hopefully this shop won't be squeezed out of business, as it's certainly needed.

I entered the shop just as the staff were preparing to close. I was so impressed that the guy who I asked did they have a product I wanted spent time looking for it. I did say i would come back tomorrow, but he said no problem & proceeded to locate what I required. It's not often you get this service, I have used Melvyn Clerk on a few occasions & the staff are always so helpful, I'm an senior female & it's so nice to get this sort of service.

I was recommended this shop by a friend to fix my pushchair which had come apart and needed replacement screws and bolts. He was on it straight away, knew exactly what to do and fixed it for me! What an incredible service!

Good old fashioned hardware shop. Too few about these days. They stock the things that B&Q, Wickes etc don't stock.

Staff were really helpful by offering advice on my DIY repairs

I got a hose and some bits on card here costing me £27 I forgot I needed a connector part which cost £1.99. They refused service because there’s a spend limit of £3.99 on card. I HAD JUST SPENT 27 QUID! Very frustrating and annoying as I know these limits set by business owner’s aren’t mandatary.

Driven past many times and had to pop in this time for a couple of items. Was surprised how much bigger it was than I'd thought, big range, reasonable prices and people who know what they are talking about. Sure beat having to drive an extra few miles to Band Q and suffer the pain of queuing to pay there! Have popped into MC a few more times now

It's got everything! And no need to buy 500 nails when you just need one, or even meters of heat shrink when just 10 cm will do! Staff are polite and helpful too. All your hardware needs solved!

Customer service levels are just exceptional. Priceless going here. They always have what I need and they know exactly what I’m looking for when I’m waving an odd nut or bolt around! No messing about in the big high street stores. These people have retail for this type nailed! Pun intended lol
