Not sure what criteria you should use for grading a pond – four stars for good use of water, variety of plant life and lots of cute baby geese to visit, with occasional early morning exotica such as swans, Egyptian geese and a giant lumbering heron. Minus one star for not as many islands as advertised.

Seven Islands pond in Mitcham Common hosts many different birds from geese to ducks etc... We often go there during our walks. During our recent visit some kids were throwing pebbles at the birds, but the parents stood there watching them. It scared the geese and gulls...

Hard to believe you are still in London when you visit this park. Its a very big park with not too many people visiting so you can enjoy some peace and quiet, watch the birds and have a picnic.

a nice place for a walk/trail... it doesn't have a structure to walk with prams or wheelchairs, no bathrooms, no cafe, it's more for those who live nearby and want to spend time in nature... it's very good! you can do a lot of walking, children venture into the trees, and pic ninc near the lake is cool too! Go there and enjoy the Sun!

Better than most London parks for me. Not just flat ground. Hills, water, wetlands, birds. If it weren't for the road noise, you could forget you're in London.

So beautiful and relaxing, you just hear birds, ducks, and smell of nature! I would just recommend keep the pond a little bit cleaner from human rubbish!

Reasonably large pond on Mitcham Common with a variety of ducks and geese.

My favourite place growing up as a kid in the area in the 70's.....during the hot summer of 1976 the lake dried up completely and you could walk between the islands. Can remember me and my mates helping the Environment Agency rescue the fish that were trapped in the small pools of water that were left. Great to see it still exists and hasn't been built on!

Have been going here all my life. Great area for a picnic (no BBQ allowed and best to take food waste home due to local foxes). Great for kids with ducks & life on pond, great end of May / June when young hatch.
