The small Piazza Savonarola is located between the Estense Castle and the ancient Palazzo Ducale. At the center of the square stands the monument to Fra 'Girolamo Savonarola "scourge of vice and tyrants." The monument, designed by Stefano Galletti, was inaugurated in 1875

Molto bene...Ferrera has to be seen if you visit bologna. Its not far from bologna (only 50 minutes with train-trenitalia) this place can also be visited in ferrara. There are too many things to see. I strongly recommend all points in ferrera..

Monumento a Girolamo Savonarola politico, religioso e predicatore posizionato in centro della piazza tipicamente medievale che porta il suo nome, accanto al bellissimo castello Estense a Ferrara. Egli è in posizione di accusa, con le mani in atteggiamento oratorio sopra alla legna, che allude al rogo su cui fu fatto morire. Predicatore e fustigatore, egli predicava la penitenza come sola via di salvezza. Contrario al lusso che considerava fonte di depravazione, faceva giustiziare chi riteneva dissoluto, organizzando dei " roghi delle vanità". Il frate domenicano, originario di Ferrara, fu arso sul rogo a Firenze accusato di eresia nel 1498.
