I love this Basilica, so much art all around it, the ceiling, the altar, the sides of the building, the outside... it was all just amazing. I liked how easy it was to buy the ticket and also how one ticket would allow us to get into the main attractions at a very affordable price as well(€9.50). The town is small enough for you to just walk to the main sites. Food can be a bit pricey.

Great for mosaics of martyrs. Women in one line on a side, men on the other. Most interesting mosaic is of the house. It has floating hands and an arm on the pillars. Obviously, they didn't like the original artwork. Worth the time and euros.

Stunning place, with amazing mosaics. Particular loved the representation of women. Handy toilet near the gardens at back too! Highly recommend this site, was a beautiful space and incredible to see such detailed work on such a scale.

The artistry of these mosaics is incredible. The history is fascinating. Stories of the very early christian church from our guide, Sylvia, will make you think! Great.

Worth of seeing. Beautiful masterpiece on walls. Mosaics from 5th century showing the procession of people, man and virgins, toward the Christ and Saint Mary. I've spent there one hour just look at the details of each mosaic. Outside there is a garden surrounded by arcades (toilet at the end of corridor). Very nice place to take a rest before continuing the visiting of Ravenna.

We had a guided tour with very great guide. She was covering details of the history making it not boating. Funny facts about the happening.

The Basilica di Sant'Apollinare is one of the amazing historical monuments in Ravenna. It is one of the locations where they have a ticket office where you can buy a combined ticket for the 5 mosaic filled landmarks in Ravenna. It is a large cathedral and the mosaics in this chapel are beautiful. There are also multiple alters within this site as well. There is also a gift shop onsite. Definitely worthwhile seeing this church.

Exquisite! The mosaics are impressive, as anywhere else in Ravenna and the place has a phantastic energy, beyond its ravishing history. A must see in Ravenna! A hint: buy a composite access ticket (includes 2 or 4 additional historical attractions in Ravens) - we bought those that includes the Archbishop's Palace and Basilica St. Vitale and we had a great experience.

Early Christian and Byzantine style basilica, one of the reasons to see Ravenna.

This is a place in which people have worshipped for many centuries. Its intricate mosaics convey the devotions of early Christians. Visiting this astonishing interior is very moving. Spare a thought for those who created this basilica long ago, and for the people of Ravena today.

A marvel of Byzantine art to visit! The frescoes are extraordinary and in a fantastic state of preservation. Ravenna abounds in fabulous places

Unique and has to be seen to enjoy the historical background and artistic value of the architecture and mosaic art. most of the buildings are built over Roman shrines to pagan gods and hide superb Roma's mosaics to name some of the hidden treasures. Not to be missed and is part of a walk to 3 or 4 other places like this which you can buy a pass here for all locations.

Stunning, a beautifully historic basilica dedicated to the Christian Arian way of observance by King Theodric the Great in the first decade of 6th Century CE. Rededicated by Emperor Justinian to Catholic faith 50 years later. Some of the best devotional art ever produced.

Terrible experience. I would have loved to visit Sant' Apollinare nuovo but...surprise...I can only buy a ticket for Sant'Apollinare & other churches. Unfortunately, my day in Ravenna was over and there was no time to visit the other monuments. Well, I had to renounce! Also, the staff was really really rude almost accusing me of trying to cheat and being mean beacause I did not wanted to pay for all the monuments I could not visit. I am an archaeologist so imagine what the mosaics of Ravenna mean for someone like me but the experience was so so poor I am not looking forward to go back!

the mosaics depicting the birth of Christ with the three kings and all the apostles but also the death and the angels is mind-blowing. the sheer intricacies of the artwork is just amazing

This is yet another stunning mosaic filled church. This is a more traditional shaped church and the walls are filled on both sides with stunning art. It was insanely peaceful, no pews in the church so you can wonder through easily.
