One of the few places in Portugal that have these "contraptions" to preserve the cereals from rodents, floods and other animals, throughout the seasons. They also have a dig breed typical of this region. Beautiful place

Romantic looking piece of history. Granaries are everywhere in this area, but here, on this place not only few, but dozen or two :) Just amazing view! One piece of rural architecture what is typical for North Portugal only.

This group of 24 granaries consisting of a central common threshing ground and the peripheral granaries made of granite and on top of a mother rock outcrop. the oldest granary is from the 1782. They are still in use, mostly as corn storages.

I loved this area. It's a lovely area for some serious hiking. These tomb like grain storage units are very interesting

Absolutely fantastic, check the video on 'Milda goes wild', a must see site, really unique and you'll see more of these granaries is you drive around the area too. Free entry and parking.

A bit of trekking and climbing to get there but the stone granaries are great. You can take cool pics!

Soajo is a pretty, little village, located in Arcos de Valdevez, well-known for its unique “Espigueiros”. It's a beautiful place to admire the traditional architecture.

Quiet place, walking through the the quaint village streets was interesting. You could do the whole place in an hour so don't plan for it to be a whole day trip, good to stop if you are passing through.

Very interesting nice stone granaries. Great for a quick stop in the area. We didn't spend more than 20 minutes here but it was well worth it!
