Lovely zoo with a great variety of animals, fantastic playground and plenty of open space.

We went to Boo at the Zoo and they did a great job helping everyone stay distant and safe. Everyone was wearing a mask and doing their best to keep 6 ft apart. I love that the park was 1 way. We went earlier in the morning so it wasn't as crowded as afternoon/evening. The animals were up and eating. One thing that could change was the food counter. The order station and pick up station was at the same window. People were huddled around it trying to order and pay while also getting their food. Wish there was a pick up station that one of the employees could set up a table and run the food to that table and call the name on the pick up slip. Other than that it was a great alternative to trick or treating.

I absolutely love this Park! There's the Zoo which isn't expensive at all but if you're not looking to spend money there's also a great playground the kids will love. There's free parking, basketball courts, lots of picnic tables, a pond with a lot of geese and ducks. The entire Park is pretty big so it's a great place to go for a walk. Either by yourself, with friends or your dog. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive way to have fun with the kids or looking to have a great time without spending any money.

This zoo was small but so enjoyable. Can see it all in about 2 hours but very clean and animals well provided for. The gift shop had so many reasonably priced items to purchase and the Cafe had great tasting food that was priced fairly. The cost to get in was so affordable. The train ride was short but fun and informative. We enjoyed this zoo very much.

I came for the farmers market. So happy to find the same farmer who was selling the best Corn on the in New Bedford! I could kick myself for only buying 5 ears of it but I have the farmers market schedule and I know where to find him lol.. I'm sharing some photo's with you all..

It's ok. The animals are well kept after, and there are ample shaded areas. They had a day camp going on that seemed a little out of control so that alone took a star away.

Nice walking path. Playground for the children's imagined friends, potential real friends and the actual children themselves. These a duck pond utilized by geese, I've also seen a swan. Little bit of wooded area you sometimes see strange people in, hence 4 stars.

Not to be confused with the adjacent zoo, this park still has a great playground set for the little ones to play with. The close proximity to the zoo does allow you to see some exhibits, like the elephant for example. There's also a nearby lake where you can feed ducks, so have some food ready.

The animals are so adorable and always interesting to watch. I can't wait for the mare to give birth to her foal. I would really like for the zoo to keep it as horses prefer interacting with more than one horse. They are more social than humans and always travel in big herds.

Nice little zoo. Really nice exhibits as easy to see the animals no matter where they are. You must stop by if in the area. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Grew up coming here as a kid. Lots of space to walk your dog or play some basketball. If your in the area you might as well see the zoo as well.

We let or kids run around before we went into the zoo and it was very clean. They have baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts, a huge field you could play football or soccer in if you wanted to. These okay areas are far enough from the street so you feel secluded from traffic

Some of the animals have quite small enclosures, but for small children it's a nice hour walk to pass through. We do miss the bear though

I love this park. I love a lot of New Bedford's parks, and the city ought to be proud of most of them, but this park in particular is special. Between the sports fields, the zoo, the gardens, the memorials, the library, the duck pond, and all the festivals hosted there, it's a real gem.

Nice little park. Walk to the playground is completely shaded which was nice. Paved paths around the playground if you wanted to walk with a stroller !!

The zoo is very small and has animals that you could see at farms and in the wild all over New England, but it provided a few hours of fun for my young kids on a rainy day during our vacation. They did have an Asian elephant, which is something even the Philadelphia Zoo does not have. If you are a member of another zoo, see if you get a discount (Philadelphia Zoo members get 50% off entry, so for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids (7 yo, 4 yo, and 8 mo) it cost $16 to get in and parking is free. Hard to beat that!

Great park to bring kids to and spend the day at. Also has great paths for walks and let the kids play on the playground. There's a farmers market that's located there as well. Handicapp accessible. Duck/geese pond.

Fun place to go with our toddlers. They had a blast during their trick or treating zoo day. The playground was fun too, but a little old. There are picnic tables there for packed lunches, which we took advantage of. The animals are a bit spread out so be prepared to walk a lot :)

I love walking through the park. It's well lit and the walkways are well maintained. The little gift shop has some really cute items.

Plenty of parking nature at its best also well-kept and everyone is very friendly. A lot to do for the place is very big. And obviously the Price is Right. Also not to mention that they share their building once in awhile to contribute for Red Cross. This is a home for many animals inside the zoo and outside as well.

It is a fascinating place. Unfortunately some of the exhibits appeared a little tired and others were unkepted. Their last bear in residence also recently died from old age. They do provide a lot for what they have to work with!

One of the most interesting facts about this park is Frederick Law Olmsted designed it.(He was the landscape architecture who designed central park in NYC and is also known as the father of American landscape architecture.) This is one of my favourite jogging & biking places around the area. You should check it out. 😃

Our favorite local zoo. Great size for day trips. Membership well worth the price

My family and I had the most amazing day! It was absolutely perfect! Weather was great! Zoo was amazing and beautiful! Very clean! Beautiful, exotic and wide variety on animals! Lots of parking! Handicap accessible! Great prices! Awesome gift shop! And can bring a backpack with your own drinks, snacks and what not! What more can I say?? We had a blast! Can't wait to go back again!👍😁❤

Great zoo! Lots to see but not overwhelming. Perfect place for a leisurely day, or even half day. There's a public park with swings and climbing equipment nearby, tennis courts, long walking path, and a large duck pond. Zoo staff frown on people bringing lunch inside as they want you to buy at the on site restaurant, but I've brought PB&J for the kids and ate it anyway, though they claimed we couldn't. You can take a break outside the gates and avoid the issue, but ask about re-entry before you leave. Pick up discount passes at many MA libraries, but only New Bedford residents can get them in the City library. All in all, a wonderful way to pass the time and enjoy some air, exercise and the variety of animals at an economical price.

This zoo made me sad. The enclosures were fairly small and had limited and mostly worn signage. The water for the otters was completely opaque. The place clearly needs some financial help.

So, the playground is great. Nice open area, plenty to do. Those black topped things you hop from one to another were loose and wobbly. There were also plenty of mice running around. My daughter loved chasing them, as they ran to hide under the bench. As I am trying to get far far away one ran between my feet. So, yeah good times.

It's not bad, pretty clean. The community really prides themselves because it's probably the most beautiful part of the town/city.

What a fun park! This is located right next to Buttonwood Zoo, so after spending an hour or two in there, we headed outside to let our 4yo run around. The playground was a very large and had plenty for him to check out. My only complaint would be that there wasn't a bathroom facility, but we had purchased tickets to the zoo, so we headed back inside. I do think there was a single port-a-potty onsite though.

I've seen petting zoo's and farms better than this zoo... wow.. very disappointing, but, we definitely made the best of it...
