A great spot, however the coffee can be inconsistent sometimes. Sometimes my latte prices are different even though I order the same thing. I suggest being specific about the amount of syrup you want to prevent overly sweet drinks also, I tend to get 2 flavors and if I don't specify the coffee is grossly sweet. I enjoy the location and the interior. Be prepared to spend money, two items can reach 20 dollars by adding substitutes like almond milk. The staff is great and friendly and will help you with any questions you have.

Very comfortable place to sit for a coffee. Some unique flavor shots for your latte. There are ample plugs if you come to do work on your laptop.

I enjoy the location and the interior. Hip atmosphere commands hip prices, two items can reach 20 dollars by adding substitutes like almond milk. Did not feel pressured or guilted to tip like in other coffee shops. Still did though because the staff is phenomenal and friendly and will help you with any questions you have. Skilled and knowledgeable. Thanks for the afternoon pick me up!

One of the best coffee shops in downtown Syracuse. You can even enjoy the spring breeze with delicious coffee at an outdoor table. The only sad thing is closing at 3 pm during the beautiful weekend.

Great bagel sandwich, delicious iced mocha on a hot day—the perfect blend of coffee and chocolate. Nice clean tables in the shade outside, friendly/helpful service, great location! Could be cuter/more comfortable inside.

A nice locally owned coffee shop located in a historic building in the heart of the city and state government centers in downtown Syracuse. It is breath of fresh air amongst the coffee corporate giants that have invaded our cities and undermined local shops and the uniqueness that they offer. I would recommend that if are in this part of downtown Syracuse and are looking for a cup of coffee, past by the Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts and walk here for true local cup of coffee. It is right next to City Hall.

Cozy little cafe. I got a latte and my girlfriend got a cafe au lait with their light roast of the day. Both were delicious, pleasant is probably the best word I can think of to describe the coffees. The roasts they have all sounded very good and their website says they're ethically sourced. Every baked good in their case was vegan, we didn't get any but they looked great.

In the season of the pumpkin spice latte, this recess wins for best one for all the coffee shops downtown. The pumpkin queen latte was super good. Staff was very pleasant. Only slight complaint is that there is very little space for more than a few people to order/wait. But not like anything can really be done with that lol. Definitely will be back!

Has become my go to spot for a breakfast sandwich. Food is fresh and my sandwich is always prepared nicely. Online ordering is smooth and it’s always ready on time.

What can I say? A Syracuse staple ^^^^^ was my previous 5 star review. Great coffee, but they banned me 🤷‍♂️

The coffee was most beautifully crafted to perfection. I'll be back for another cup when I'm in the area.

Nice little local coffee shop with their own roasted coffees. Very well crafted espresso drinks. Its location inside a larger building on a narrow one way street makes it feel like you are discovering a local secret, and you are. The location is pretty convenient to I-81 too making it a great stop for a well balanced brew and locally crafted bakery treats when traveling through Syracuse.

This is my favorite coffee shop downtown. I always use their beans when making coffee at home as well. Great place!

I visited for an afternoon "pick me up" and really loved the turmeric honey latte and peanut butter bar, it looks like they have so many other options so I'll be sure to try something new next time I'm in Syracuse!

A hip space (albeit with a weak use of wall space) that’s simultaneously nice for meeting with friends and working. The coffee tends to be slightly burnt.

First time trying recess coffee and our drinks were amazing! We both ordered our go to coffees - mocha lattes. Honestly I think it was one of the best mochas I’ve ever had. Coffee was smooth, strong and packed a lot of flavor without being overbearing. Perfect amount of mocha and whole milk. Interior was very clean and stylish with plenty of seating. And last, the staff were very polite. Will definitely come back!
