Where do I begin?? Well my husband had been experiencing nausea & vomiting since Monday July 3rd. Tried to deal with it at home but nothing we did worked. It got to the point today where my husband just wanted to feel better like any other human being, especially because he hadn’t ate or slept since Monday. So we decided it was time to go to the hospital to see if there was something more serious wrong. Now we had all 3 of our daughters at Henry Ford West Bloomfield, myself & one of my daughter’s had a procedure done at this hospital & all of those experiences were amazing to the point I recommend this hospital to literally everyone. However the experience my husband & I had today in the emergency in room 13 was terrible. We were at the hospital from 11:30am-5:15pm & not once did a doctor come in to introduce their self, say hi, ask what’s going on, we never saw a doctor. My husband was in extreme pain. I had to go in the hallway 3 times, be ignored, to ask for help. Under staff or not 6 hours of no doctor is unprofessional. The doctor is G. Orthmeyer & none of my husband’s issues was resolved or answered. Super disappointed 👎🏽

My daughter had the worst experience of an E.R. visit in her entire life last night. Not only was she in the E.R for 10 hrs., but the unprofessionalism of some of the staff was unbelievable! She overheard a conversation by a staff member, saying, quote" She's not dead is she? I hope that she's not dead because I can't deal with that tonight!",Who works in Healthcare would say such a thing? Unacceptable!!!

Terrible service, lazy trifling staff, poor quality of care, zero patient follow up, when you use your call light no one comes the staff lies and tell you they will be back and never comes back. The med Surg/ Stroke unit is horrible. I wouldn’t send my dog to this facility.

I was in for surgery this morning and my pre-op nurse Kellie was amazing!! She was dutiful and made sure all my needs were met and made me super comfortable. My post-op nurse Emma was also amazing and made me feel super safe after surgery and got me what I needed!! I would definitely recommend this hospital for the care that they put into their patients.

My disabled son came to this facility for a Endoscopy and Colonoscopy test, that was supposed to be done stat. He is non- verbal and has lost 30 pounds over a two year period! This was of course after numerous other test, including being told he could possibly have lymphoma. Which turned out to be negative. My son is not mentally or physically able to drink all of the “prep” they recommend. But, he was able to manage about 25% of the solution. Plus upon arrival the doctor who ordered the test knew all of this information. And again! This was a STAT ordered test. Meaning NOW! The doctor who was suppose to perform the test which was a different doctor than who ordered the procedure. Decided to send out his resident to inform me- they weren’t going to be able to see anything in the test since my son didn’t drink all the bowel prep. And advised me to just go sit at the ER with him. This advice made zero sense and what would that actually do for my son? This facility has some of the worst bed side manners I’ve ever experienced. If you have a disabled child or adult you are caring for ! Do NOT bring them here !!!! Then the nurse lied in the after visit summary notes. Never included what they told me only what I said to them! Literally took me back to high school ! Which I hope anyone can imagine it was obviously not nice! My son can’t speak! But I can! And this is discrimination and disrespectful to the special needs community! Disqualified individuals with zero empathy and education!

I brought my wife here with abdominal pains .She could barely walk I have been sitting here for close to 3hrs and she haven't been seen yet . At 9am in the morning! I watched as there was more attention paid to the redecorating of the ER waiting room than the patients. At least 8 people came to look at that. I was told that there is only one nurse available at this time in the ER. On the morning shift!!. We are still waiting to be seen . There are so many people who are coming in after us who seems to be in just as much pain. This is unacceptable for this hospital. The average wait time including being seen is 2hr and 40mins. I had time to look it up.

I came into the hospital in an ambulance through emergency. I was given a room within the hospital in a relatively short time. The treatment I received within the hospital was incredible. It was efficient, caring, and very respectful! I had never been to this hospital before, but was, I think, fortunate to have been taken there this time. I was in the hospital for 5 days and as that time went on, I began to understand how bad my situation had been. The efforts the doctors, nurses, and other personnel made to care for me and to help me understand what was happening had a big impact on my recovery. Having been to emergency services in other hospitals in the last year or so, I do know that what has been described by others as the emergency service at this facility is not uncommon at other hospitals in the area. I can’t help but think that difficulty getting staff must be part of the problem. Patients in beds lined up along the walls seems not to be a good or even workable solution. I did not experience this during my admission at this time, but have no difficulty believing what I’ve read and understanding what a big problem it is.

Got into the ER after nearly 9 hours on waiting room with no water or vending machine and then got allocated a bed no room no monitor, no IV just bed - I am sure they will charge the insurance the full amount. Also I and my wife happened to notice few vacant ER rooms on the way in. Pathetic experience at the waiting room. When after 6 hrs went to ask the nursing station about any status update the security guy almost came in to push me back to my waiting room seat adding to the pain and agony. All in all very inhumane and hope I never have to come here ever again

Best hospital in the area!! Weather its for giving birth or a visit to the er for an incision and drainage of an abscess. For the i and d 1st i went to st joes and sat there for 3 days with no relief, took a cab to henry ford and within 3 hrs i was walking out the door, cut, drained and much better. Personally i will never vo to another hospital if im in the tri county area.

Try getting ahold of your doctor after discharge lol. On hold 40 minutes to reach a person that sends then an email which then doesn't get responded to. My wife needs pain meds she should suffer waiting on this piss poor policy. Her BP IS 201/99 if she has a stroke I will be sueing as your policy allows patients to suffer needlessly!

Absolutely worst ER hospital experience in my 53 years. My son sat for 6 hours on pain and not one doctor came in to assess his pain or even asked what was wrong. Finally decided to leave. Doctor walks in says labs are good and heres a prescription. No water no food for 6 hours. Just absolutely ridiculous. Only gave one star so I could post! Doesn’t even deserve one

This is my second time visiting this hospital and waited > 5 hours in the ER waiting room. For such a beautiful hospital they have terrible throughput for patients. I want to be anywhere else right now, but instead I’m sitting in this ER waiting room because my primary said go to the ER.

My mom was admitted through the ER she was left alone and fell resulting in several stitches in her forehead. When she was admitted took 3 days before a doctor made contact after 2 request for a call. Nursing staff assumes that the family will do their job as in feeding your loved one just because you are there. They set my mom’s dinner appropriately 5’ from her and when questioned, the nursing staff indicated they do not know when food is brought onto their unit again expecting family to feed and if I was not there would my mom have been fed? Not sure she would have. Staff could never tell me if my mom was up in the reclining chair in her room. Nursing staff will continue to argue with family member and then hide behind security. When you contact the Care Experience Department of course they will side with their nursing staff; however, if someone needs to say to themselves that they are a good nurse (twice) in my experience they probably are not. The staff, including the nurse supervisor could have handled my concerns that night differently. I was driving over an hour one way for a week and a half to see my mom plus working and was extremely exhausted. I hope to never send my mom there AGAIN. If I could have given zero stars I would have.

This hospital used to be the absolute best around. Excellent care, attentive caregivers, amazing doctors, great food. But not anymore!! Going to the ER here now is taking your life into your own hands. More than once I’ve been sent home and told to follow up with my doctor only to have my doctor send me back because I had a dangerous infection. This has happened twice this year!! Each time I have tried to convince the ER nurse practitioners (very rarely do you get to see an actual doctor) that I was not well enough to leave, but they still just send the uncaring nursing staff to discharge me. Then I come back a few days later to go through the several hours long waiting process again and try to convince them again and because I’m sicker this time they finally start treating me. Find some doctors and staff for the ER that actually care about patients. On several occasions I have listened to conversations (because I’m in the hallway beds!!!) between staff members complaining about having to treat patients and respond to patient needs. That’s supposed to the your job!!! I have a complicated medical history and unfortunately I have been to this hospital many times over the past 10 years. The care in the ER has progressively gotten worse each time over the past couple years. The hall beds are the absolute worst idea ever. Whoever came up with this idea should be fired!!! Imagine being very sick, feeling your absolute worst, and you have to sit in the hall around a bunch of strangers and employees coming and going for their shifts while you explain to the nurse each detail about why you feel terrible. I hope the person who came up with this idea has to sit in one of these beds when they get very sick. I don’t know why this hospital that was built to be the gold standard of care from door to door has been allowed to become this horrible experience. Something needs to be done!! Bring back the care that this hospital was known for. Henry Ford Health should be ashamed of what this hospital has become.

I'm surprised by the low reviews here but they seem to be focused on the ER. I did not go to the ER in West Bloomfield I was transferred to WB for a 6 day stay and surgery. Every single staff member I met (and there were many) was friendly, helpful and generally seemed to actually care. What food I had was fine, which is a compliment for hospital food but the kitchen was really slow. Hospital itself was nice and clean. Again can't speak for the ER but if you're admitted it's a nice place to get better.
