Always friendly volunteers. A nice, quiet place to rest before your flight with snacks, beverages, and comfortable chairs. If you're a veteran or on active duty, I recommend stopping by to get free (donated) water, coffee, or snacks rather than paying exorbitant prices elsewhere in the airport. Highly Recommended.

This is a small but nice lounge for service members in the Detroit airport. Simply show your military ID for access. The two folks working the day I used the Freedom Center were very kind.

It's not a USO, but a privately funded organization that supports Military, Veterans and others. Small but comfortable area with snacks, coffee and Wi-Fi. The staff are super friendly and I found out they accommodate stranded travelers even after they close. Super awesome place, I was able to grab a massage chair and relax while I waited for my flight. Lights are dim to create a mellow atmosphere. Stop in here if you have the time, it beats Starbucks!

Wonderful little getaway from the hustle and bustle of the airport. I had two 4 hour layovers and spent both in the freedom center. Lots of commodities, great snacks, and fantastic volunteers. I'm so appreciative of their time.

They definitely need to change the hours to accommodate the volunteers. They shouldn't advertise, especially over the intercom, to visit the freedom center and its not even open. I was stuck in Detroit due to bad weather and camped out across the way so I could visit before I got on the plane the next morning and they said it was opening at 0600 but it is 35 minutes past now and still no sign of anyone and at least 10 people have came and left by now. This is a huge airport, who knows how far they had to walk to get here just to find the place closed. I understand it's run by volunteers and I'm sure they are a great help to people when they are there but if the hours say 0600, you should be on time, or at least close.

Totally ran on volunteers and donations. For my visit snacks were available but limited. Quiet place for vets to relax or congregate. There’s a freedom center in both terminals but only the McNamara terminal I believe has beds. The Evans terminal has reclining chairs that I enjoyed a nap on. This provides an overlap for veterans not allowed to use the USO anymore.

Nice relaxing space away from crowds in main concourse. Light snacks and non alcoholic beverages provided free of charge. Comfortable recliners and couches. Thank you for providing this to service members and vets 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Closed when I got here, thankful for the service the volunteers put in but they shouldn’t be advertising over the intercom it’s open as multiple people traveled a distance only to find out it’s closed during their business hours.
