Black Tie is an incredible gym! Brett is a great instructor with attention to detail and patience. Brett and the team welcome everyone from the day-one beginner to the seasoned expert. Beginning jiu jitsu or switching gyms can be a difficult step to take, but the Black Tie crew will make you feel at home the moment you walk into the gym. This Jiu-jitsu gym is an amazing place and highly organized. The more experienced grapplers as well as the instructor are extremely helpful at all times! Every time I come into the gym I always come out with a smile, and wanting to come back again! Safe and friendly gym!

This might not be the biggest school in Michigan but it’s definitely the best and I can say that with 100% confidence. The attention to detail Coach Brett applies to the Jiu Jitsu game has earned Black Tie Clare and Black Tie Kalamazoo countless gold medals and title belts from BJJ tournaments here in Michigan and across the country. Went to a gym before this one. Had a bad experience. Both the atmosphere and level of training at Black Tie are leaps and bounds above what I had before and what I could have ever expected. Very skilled and knowledgeable coaches and some very tough athletes training here. Great 10/10 recommend if you are wanting to get into combat sports.

Black Tie Jiu Jitsu in Clare is some of, if not, the best martial arts training around. The facility is kept very clean, the environment is always welcoming, and the training is always designed to better your grappling game. I have trained and competed in Martial Arts for most of my life and was still apprehensive to train in a new gym in an art that was outside of my comfort zone. I quickly realized that the apprehension I had was completely unwarranted at Black Tie. I was welcomed with open arms immediately by every member of the team. In the few years since my initial visit, not only have I improved, the team has grown immensely, both in size and dedication of students. I attribute this to Brett's own dedication to the sport and his students, his eagerness to learn and improve himself, and his openness to all students. It is not a "group of guys" at Black Tie Jiu Jitsu Clare, it is Team.
