A gem in the area, it's located in the internal roads but has plenty of parking and has amazing views. More importantly the pub is dog friendly indoors and outdoors, they even gave our dog plenty of treats (gravy bones). There is an outdoor area for drinks and food but they only have limited food options there, I've posted a picture of the board with this review. Inside the pub there are plenty of food and drink options available. Great option for a family lunch or a date.

The old orchard was quite a scenic and beautiful pub! We went with a few friends for a late lunch and below was the view. Location (5/5): Not far from where we all live in North West London, the location is stunning with options to walk down by the river and lake. There is also free parking throughout the day so can always go for a mini hike after a meal. We were surprised to have visited such a place In London and not far from where we all live! Loads of outdoor sitting with the view of the lake. The food (4/5): The food was decent, most of the starters were quite nice such as the halloumi fries, garlic breads, chips and Mac and cheese. The burrata, hummus were below average! For mains we kept it to a minimum, went for the teriyaki tofu which was great but the thai green curry was a let down. Options were all vegetarian so the experience for a meat eater may be different. There were 3 menus and 1 was for the BBQ that is for the people sitting outside. Price (3/5): Central London prices is all I can say. Thai green curry for example was almost £17. Service (5/5): The waiting staff were very attentive and ensured all dietary requirements were catered for. They were friendly and also engaged us with a smile and jokes which is always nice! I would definitely visit again when the weather is nice and sunny again!

Whilst the pub food and general ambience of the restaurant was very good and a beer garden with a view to rival the best in the land 🇬🇧, the service speed was extremely slow considering the amount of staff they have working. One glance on trip advisor and you can see this place is living off it's reputation of 5 years ago. It's certainly a shadow of it's former self since I visited 6 years ago. 👎🏼Some of the staff were just chatting and laughing at the bar whilst we were waiting 20 minutes for drinks in the restaurant area next to the bar so I just ended up going to the bar and ordering myself because it was quicker. The waiters were extremely friendly so it may be that they are poorly organised that is the issue or maybe just lazy and whoever is managing them is just not picking them up on it. It's a shame that the chef's good food and the kitchen is let down by seemingly badly managed staff because they all seem competent and friendly. All our food was served at different times with my son waiting in between which meant our friends started their meal first which, again, I think is poor for the relatively higher than usual price you are paying.🤦🏼‍♂️ Toilets 🚻 (male) were awful upstairs with urine and toilet paper all over the floor. Not sure how often they check these. Conclusion: Good pub, good food but should be excellent if it was run efficiently. It takes years to build a good reputation and this place is going down the drain quickly. I hope they invite the owners over soon to actually experience what it's really like.

A traditional pub overlooking amazing views of the Broadwater Lake Nature Reserve. It is a hidden gem of a place, you wouldn't know it is there as it's set back from the main road. We have been here many times as staff and menu never disappoint. The menu has a range of choices, including gluten-free and vegan options too. I had the gluten free chicken pie and my friend had the vegan Shepard's pie.... delicious! 😋 We went for a pleasant walk afterwards, along the Harefield Locks.

Managed to go to this elegant country gastro-pub over the weekend. Upon arriving at our table, we were lucky to be enjoying the lovely weather with lovely views and terrace seating. Whilst the food was good, unfortunately the service was not. They did have a lot of waiters and waitresses, but the attention to detail was lacking and the time to get your food was far too long. From ordering our meal to actually getting our main course was a wait of 1 hour 5 minutes, which is totally unacceptable. My pudding was the waffle with banana toffee sauce and ice cream; there were three chunks of banana on the plate (not even half a normal sized banana) it was another portion control issue in my opinion. Other friends had been to the Old Orchard many times in the past and always raves about it! but based on the service and the fact you have to queue up at the bar and order yourselves; we will not be going back any time soon or recommending it to family or friends. On a bright note, the views are spectacular as you can see from the photos and ample parking for over 100 cars! If you’d like to go yourself i would strong recommend to go visit on a weekday.

Lunch for 4 at The Old Orchard in Harefield. Our order- starters of the squid and Pigs in Blankets, mains of a fish & chips, the steak burger, the pork belly, sausage & mash and we shared a dessert of the sticky toffee pudding. Always impressed by the quality of the food and lovely customer service. Our guests always are impressed and we’re pleased it’s just a 15mins drive for us. Highly recommended.

A very old historical pub with an amazing view! This pub is just so beautiful, I wasn't expecting it. I would recommend to book in advance if you want food we didn't manage to find a table even showing up early in the evening. If you come walking or cycling you should definitely check the canal walk just under the road it's stunning! There is a huge parking space so you will find a spot if you come by car.

We loved being at the Old Orchard. We visited on a week day so things were really quite. We walked in without a reservation and the staff did their best to make us comfortable. Food was well made and was surprisingly well priced. The clincher is the decor inside and the views outside. It is wonderful to have a place like this at such a short drive away from London! Parking is free and ample.

The food was delicious but I think some attention to detail on requests would be appreciated since my friend asked for no pickle on her burger but it came out with a pickle. No big issue but would be nice to have the order correct. Atmosphere was lovely. The scenery is excellent.

This place is really beautiful to visit one of the best places to sit outside. The food was lovely I had The pie and chips And it was really good. It might be a bit too expensive for some people you're looking at. £30 just for your meal, I had an IPA lager for £6 but it's £15 for a spirit. Hope that helps some people in making a decision but the place is really beautiful to visit.

Amazing Pub with a view; As they advertise ‘the best views in Christendom’ ! It was a hot summer day on Sunday and the place was heaving but to be fair the venue coped with it all; The weather, the huge number of customers and despite the rush there was just about enough parking ! And the wide array of drinks on the tap as well as in the bottle and then the bites offered would any good Tapas Bar and even the mains were hearty and delicious! Well Done ‘The Old Orchard’; Way To Go !!!

Lovely afternoon here with beautiful views. Tasty food, would love to try the Sunday roast. It does get rather busy, especially on a lovely day when everyone wants to sit outside. Dog friendly.

Had a birthday celebration here with 12 family members and of course the dog too! Waitress was exceptional and accommodating to everyone. Food was absolutely amazing and every dish was brought out at the same time. Lovely setting and open fires burning throughout the pub. Will definitely go again. Highly recommend the steak which was cooked to perfection and steak burgers good too 🙏

A hidden gem, tucked along the edges of Harefield. It has spectacular views of the Northmoor Hills Nature reserve with the canal skirting at its foothills. The ambience is classy and the food is great, though not many options for vegetarians. The staff is very friendly.

Amazing place great view, would be 5 star but price vs portion size is a bit high. Update we went again, this time the food was good (still not huge potions) but the roast beef was undercooked and chewy.

Gorgeous outside under cover seating with stunning view of the lake. Beautiful in the summer and cosy in the winter. Service is great and prices are reasonable. This is a hidden gem and by far the most stunning location.

December 2021: Glad to be able to visit The Old Orchard at Christmas. They always have a real fire going and mulled wine. Unfortunately, they hadn't started the mulled cider yet but, had a hot toddy; both were wonderful. Well done guy's for offering these. The food , for starters we shared prawn salad, very refreshing. My partner had the chicken and leek pie which was yummy. I had the salmon, which was disappointing, dry and bland, the veggie accomplishment were tasty. January 2020: I really like this place and come here regularly. Looking forward to coming in summer. Having been here many times over the last 4 months, I have to say the menu is limited and boring. Very surprised they haven't thought of changing it or varying it a bit. Also wish they had a few more cosy tables and chairs. Apart from the 1st time we came always get put on a small table for 2 despite asking for a square 4 table and plenty being available. The service could be better, waiters don't write the order down and then forget to bring you drinks. Despite the above I still like this place but, it's these things that is the difference between nice and amazing. December 2019: Came here on Christmas Eve and had a lovely evening. September 2019:Went to The Old Orchard for drinks and dinner on a Friday night. I hadn't booked a table so we had to wait an hour and a half. Which was fine as it was a nice evening we sat outside then had to move in due to it getting a bit chilly. Would have been nice if they had patio heaters, I would have liked to sit outside. Blankets would also be a nice touch. The views are amazing. Food was very good, facilities were clean and the staff were friendly and provided a great service. I will definitely be coming back.

ABSOLUTELY SUPERB !!! Came here last night for a family celebration, and was blown away by the atmosphere , quality of food and service !!! Hadn’t been here for over 40 years ( which was a works do , when the entertainment was an unknown Harry Hill !! ), but our family were meeting my cousin and his wife before they went abroad for a few months ! From walking in the door , the atmosphere was brilliant , beautifully decorated, with a roaring log fire, lovely bar , and lovely relaxed layout . The restaurant is also dog friendly, with treats and water bowls made available if required There was plenty of choice on the menu for all of us, which included 3 vegetarians. The Prawn Pil Pil starter was gorgeous ! I then had the pork belly with fresh vegetables and black garlic dressing, which was outstanding, my Cousin had the braised shoulder of lamb, and vegetarians a couple of dishes including the tortellini, which were all excellent !! The vegetables were as fresh as they possibly could be, with decent portions , and beautifully presented ! For pudding the choice was just as good, with the waffles, panettone bread and butter pudding and ice cream ( never seen so many options in a restaurant ! ) all absolutely brilliant ! To top everything off, the level of service from everyone was outstanding !!! The staff (special mention for Michaela) were all excellent ! Every care was taken to ensure we were satisfied with everything throughout the evening, their knowledge of the food and ales was brilliant, and when I mentioned it was my cousin’s birthday, the opportunity to decorate his panettone with a candle and sing happy birthday was not missed, but Michaela made certain we were all happy with this beforehand , just exemplified the quality of the staffing !! I can honestly say, it is without doubt one of the best restaurant experiences we have had in years , and it certainly will not be another 40 years before we return !!! Simply Brilliant !!!

Lovely - as always. The outdoor sharing under the new tent is lovely too, with heaters on each table for warmth! The food and drinks, (plus incredible view) make this place an absolute must visit. 👌

First time here and restaurant/pub is lovely, great setting and staff were very good, in fact excellent. The food unfortunately was hit and miss. Partridge was overcooked so very tough & very little celeriac puree. There was a large blackberry coulis smear on the plate under my chocolate tart (not mentioned on the menu), I do not like blackberry so it ruined part of it for me and also there was next to no salted caramel in there. The chicken pie and the roulade were great though.

  • 5/5 Harry D. 2 years ago on Google
Great food and drink selection, friendly staff and good service, the lamb roast was a 10/10. It is a shame the staff were all wearing masks which I assume is pub policy (not legally required in hospitality settings in England at time of writing) - I find it depersonalises everything and makes communication more difficult.

We headed to the old orchard and did not book in advance as we usually never have had to and headed to the bar. We asked a bar staff if we could be seated and he told us that they were extremely busy and had no availability.. I mentioned thr seats outdoors under the marquee and he stated that he was going to "speak to a manager". The young lad had come back within 15 seconds to say yeah my manager states theres nothing we can do. To be honest I was a bit annoyed as there were plenty of seats outdoors with heaters. So i decided to get a drink anyways and book a table on my phone whilst sipping my wine. Within 10 mins we were booked and ready!!! At this point im feeling irritable and paranoid thinking why did this staff lie? I questioned another staff why we were turned away and I actually felt a bit outcasted and then started to think perhaps we didn't fit the criteria to eat in this pub. I calmly told the staff the issue and her response was oh he must have been so stressed out because its busy.. No apologies nothing about the lie we were told, just a blank expression , she must have not known what to say tbh but this upset me even more. My friend was extremley upset and stated it didn't matter fighting back her tears. At this point i felt racially attacked like it wasn't even busy outdoors there were 5 groups of people and no polite staff. The young lad lied to us and the staff were brushing my words under the rug. I have never had any issues in the old orchard before and this time round i really felt extremley unwelcomed and paranoid! I will say though the food is always exceptional at the old orchard. I opted for a great superfood vegan salad.

Had dinner at Orchard this week. Lovely decor and friendly service. I ordered their prawn salad and deep fried cod. Both were delicious. Bravo to the young female server, who was helpful and always smiling. (Sorry I didn't catch your name.) Good dining experience.

Great location but poor staffing - this was our second time here, this time around was less busy, but unfortunately the food took a very long time to reach us, our waiter was nice enough though the food timing didn't help, the food was nice enough when it arrived, has dampened our original view on it. You can never be let down by the view, this is always a nice touch.

Spectacular views and very tasty grub, not quite 5 stars if you want to nitpick on service. Simple things to make the experience top notch were forgotten, no salt and pepper on the table, no steak knife offered, chips forgotten from the order. Staff were apologetic but its the little things if they want to really impress. They are dog friendly which is always a plus, but when I asked if they could bring a water bowl for the dog the waitress was bemused, and I decided not to insist. All in all definitely a visit for a tasty spot of lunch.

  • 4/5 Ilona M. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing views, plenty of space, very cosy pub, but could improve their menu and introduce a few more exciting dishes. Very typical pub food with no variations. If it wasn't for the cosiness and the views, we probably wouldn't visit that much (rather rarely).

  • 4/5 Harms 1 year ago on Google
The first time we have been to this venue, amazing outside garden location overlooking the hillside green landscape. Very friendly feel the place and didn't feel too busy, the service itself was good and the food was an excellent nice hot and a very good portions. What was a slight letdown was all the food did not come at the same time and I had to wait for my main dish. Definitely will come back again.

  • 4/5 Max 1 year ago on Google
Great lacation, great outdoor seats if you can grab a table. Food is good, menu could be better. One thing really puzzled us: we booked a table in advance, when we arrived we had to join a long queue starting at the outdoor patio to the bar. 40 min queue, same queue with all those ordering a drink, at some point I asked a waitress thinking I might be staying on the queue for nothing, but she confirmed that the tables were dealt by the bar, so I had to stay on the queue. Very strange arrangement since I noticed there are 2 doors after all, they could just use one for the bar and one for the restaurant. It was quite busy, and service was consequently affected. Overal I would recommend this gastro pub.

Great really lovely. The building is very well done and clean and tidy there is plenty of space inside and a fantastic cover over the outside looks like a Arabic tent and with heating, we sat inside as celebrated my 81 year old fathers birthday nice and warm, real fires and friendly staff the food looks and tastes great 👍 I would recommend highly a must try, I have not talked about the view, but go see for yourself,,,,

Unfortunately not brilliant at The Old Orchard. We were there as a family because our daughter was home from Australia. The menu wasn't great. Our order was taken about 15 minutes after we sat down. 45 minutes later, we were still waiting! A table of lads, that were sat down about 20 minutes after our order was taken, got their order before us. I wanted to say something but my daughter didn't want a fuss. The food came eventually. Me and two others had beefburger and chips. The meals weren't that hot and the small dish of dip had a film across, as if they had been standing for a length of time. The Old Orchard is not a cheap restaurant and we expected better. The food tasted good but it wasn't acceptable to wait so long without someone giving an explanation and/or apology.
